@jean-luc, it's true. None of my real life friends are going to play archeage so I don't care about that. I will meet new people in game. But to be honest if my real life friends did play mmos I am sure that they will all roll on a new server so that we can play together and we can all get land. If your friends don't want to reroll their several hours of playtime so that you can play together., well that's tough dude. When I am playing with real life friends we would go to great lengths to play together.

Don't forget, many mmorpg players form friendship through guilds over the years and go from game to game. There is more to just your real life friendship when bouncing to different servers. It's good to hear that you have friends that are that close to you that would do that though. /salute

You don't have to justify why you want a refund to anyone if others don't like it tough, I mean just look at the slogan for AA. Whats left to claim?????????????

They screwed the pooch and others can continue to bury there heads in the sand all they want but it's not gonna change a thing Trion messed up simple as that........

Actually he does have to justify it . He didn't choose to keep it to himself he chose to come on here and make a forum thread about it on the day the game is released .

If he didn't want to justify it he should have kept the matter between him an Trion .

well as you can see here, several people have gotten refunds, while I wait for mine, all I did was post a reddit link I found about it. I figure if someone is unhappy about the game like I and obviously several others were, theyd read my post and see theres a chance they could get their money back if they wanted. I had no intention of running the gauntlet of internet rage.

People say that they get refunds at the start of every game . Its a common practice on this website as I proved with that link earlier .  Actually no rage was intended against you but you can see my point .

Why would you spend 45 dollars on a game you were unsure of just to play it 4 days earlier . I don't know many people who would do that with a single player game without researching it a bit at first and if they did they certainly wouldn't take it back to the shop or contact steam because they didn't like the game .

Why should it be any different for an mmo . You brought the game you took your chances and you only had to wait 4 days to play for free first before you spent any money .

I doubt you or any other people who have done that will get your money back from Trion I'm sure plenty will come on here and say they have though .

I thought it was to somewhat guarantee they would get a decent place to put a house. A single player game you don't have to worry about that to much! :)

What this poster fails to mention, is that if you get disconnected at any point during the rush, you will have to requeue, and you will not get land by the time you get back in. This is exactly what happened to me in prelaunch, and I guarantee it will be worse today.

Sucks to be you but no, not anymore. As of last night there is a new disconnect grace period - you have about 5 minutes after any type of disconnect - even one you did on purpose to reboot Windows or whatever - to re-log without a queue. Would have been nice if it had been that way right from head-start but at least it's there now.

Nice of them to do that after hundreds and hundreds of people got screwed. Still does me no good, my guild is firmly entrenched on Kyrios, Im not lookin to play this game solo on another server where my friends arent. Hurray.

Well, speaking from what my guild is planning. We won't be keeping every farm plot we have once the north continent is opened. More than likely, you will see more land become available once that happens as larger guilds proceed to the north continent to claim a castle and land up there. Something others probably didn't realize during alpha and beta is that each of the 2 starting continents have borders of land around them that are still under construction which will more than likely offer more farm land or even perhaps better land like the north continent offers with dual climates.

Perhaps, but in order to be competitive and to keep up with the pack so to say, you had to get land at the start. There is no arguing that. You could immediately tell by day 3 just by looking at how nice their gear was who did and didnt own farms.

Just give it up, you've lost already... you've stated as much again and again... you will never be one of them... it's too late.  Game over.

Agreed, you make an excellent point sir, and I appreciate your eloquent and creative response as such. Ill be sure to mull over your words of wisdom as I go about my day, and again, I thank you for your time and your candor.

lmao, perfect. I wish we could have discussions like this in all the forums.

This poll should have been asked a couple weeks down the road. No one has the experience to answer the question, considering it is a f2p game and no one has gotten much if any play time.

After i read this, i checked my battle.net account for when my WoW sub expired and found that i could activate a 10 day MoP trial.

Clicked the button, logged into the game which was still installed on my pc, logged out after checking my old chars and running some circles in Dalaran and Orgrimmar.

No matter how hard all mmorpgs in the last ten years failed, i guess there is just no way back to WoW for me.

So, basically, you just screwed new/existing players out of potentially getting those names that you will never, ever use again?

Classy move, champ.

You are kidding right?

Funniest part about this thread is all the people saying, "the launch was so terrible, DC's and endless loops".  This happened Saturday because DDOS attacks which also happened quite a lot in GW2, Wildstar, etc.  This was not Trions fault.  Other than that the game has been 100% playable!

The queue times suck but the game itself is fine and the fact that there are such long queues means that people are playing the game.  Other than the DDOS on Saturday I crashed out once and had to go back into an hour queue.

day 1 I locked up in the rush trying to get a wind talisman, requeue for 2 hours, lose out on house, get back in 2 hours later, "the gods have disconnected you" after 10 minues , soanother 2 hour queue. 30 minutes later game locks up while fighting a mist fiend. hour and a half queue. Got back in actually got to play for a few hours when the graphics start I dunno mutliplying themselves over and over for lack of a better description, cant see a thing, have to control alt delete out, after another hour on the queue, I decide its time for bed. Thats 5 and a half hours in the queue on day one.

day 2 get up early cant log in, takes trion several hours to update status, waited patiently for 4 hours. Game comes up, but I cant log in and the game keeps sticking on the green splash screen, I spend 2 hours trying 15 different "fixes" from the forum. Finally after I just say screw it and come back a few hours later where "magically" I log right in right back in to a 2 and half hour queue. Finally I get in, and at the boat loading screen, it freezes  again. So, task manager out, restart, nother 2 hour queue. Finally I get some time in, grind a bunch of quests up to 15, spend the rest of the night trying to find somewhere to plant a farm and build a house. I was unsuccessful, after some odd hours, I decide to call it a night after not finding a single plot. 4 hours of downtime, 2 hours trying to fix what is supposedly a common problem, and another 4 and a half hours in the queue.

day 3 I go to log in, and again, it freezes on the screen with the boat on, and I have to restart my computer. I log in and realize all my guildmates are 10+ levels ahead of me now, most have farms, and all Ive got is more than 10 hours of queue time this weekend, and not so much as a 8x8 farm to show for it. So I go to the Trion website, where it keeps telling me "OOPS, try back later". So Im unable to even get anything done there, so I find a phone number for trion, and I called it. Well the recording says "we dont have phone customer service anymore, use the online method" Great the online method that isnt working right now. So after repeatedly trying to navigate their website for about another hour, I finally get somewhere, That somewhere was nearly a 3 hour wait to talk to a customer service rep. She basically said all she can do is send up a ticket to the higher ups.

So yeah, I spent most of my weekend staring at queues NOT playing, and NOT getting the farm and levels that I paid for.

Thats horrible. I'm sorry to see things like this happen. That is like $50 a day if you think about it. You could have gone out and bought TSW, GW2, and a sub based game like FFXIV:ARR. Hang in there, it will get better!

It's rinse and repeat time by opening too many servers and then having to shut them down. Really cannot blame them also since if you do not allow more servers people just leave out of frustration.

People will leave if they have to merge back too. I think they should have held their cards and just let it ride. Oh well, almost everything is a gamble I guess.  Probably in the long run it's all about revenue and from where I'm sitting it really doesn't effect me! /shrug

Adding more servers is a double edged sword. Sure, they can use them now, what about a month or two after launch, server merge.

Ya, this is a huge problem with this game. When other games lose enough players the devs can merge them onto servers and delete unnecessary ones. I think the problem with this game is you can't merge housing which is a huge portion of the title. And you also have that pesky problem with guilds being disrupted with a merge. They should have weathered the storm and held off, or found an alternate method for additional housing.

Don't hold Wildstar and SWTOR as examples.

ArcheAge is a free to play game from the start. I'm not so sure that they'll need to merge servers somewhere down the line.

I would love to see a game that doesn't lose any players, but it has been a long, long time.

meh, this is like any other new release in NA/EU or wherever. The release's have all sucked except for a few, the bugs are worked out, people leave withing 3 months, and a niche of hard core followers enjoy the game.

It's great to live in the moment, but look ahead a little and things will be better. Heck, look at SWToR if you need any kind of positive motivation for a game.

I have played all of about 7 hours of SWOTOR, no interest in it.

I wouldnt give AA nearly the grief if it wasnt for them cash grabbing the 150 up front on a product that doesnt even resemble what they released, either in content or performance.

Its a free to play game obviously it isnt going to be top notch. But it was surely better on all fronts 4 months ago than it is today.

So while you can claim look to the future, when a game was better on 99% of everything it offered in the past than it is today then how can the future be bright? Any changes they make will probably not get it to where it was 4 or 5 months ago and those changes will undoubtedly bring more problems with them as well.

The game in alpha was fine, just a few tweaks on some numbers was all they needed, yet they made whole sale changes to just about everything. THATS why it was rushed out the door because people pissed and moaned on the last set of big changes they made they wanted to make sure people didnt have time to freak out over these.

Thats is one of the saving graces of the performance issues it hasnt given people time to complain about the changes. Its akin to complaining about the color of your house while its burning to the ground.

Well my point about SWToR was that it was a dismal failure to most people for quite some time, it is now a highly successful game. If that game can make it just about any of them can.

As far as the $150 goes, that was up to those folks with the money to have decided, not Trion. People that play games have the brains enough to make their own decisions. IMHO if any of them saw previous releases of other titles they understood the risk of this happening. Its not a good thing, but its the normal thing now.

I can't comment on the performance issues because I have only played about an hour in beta. However, like most companies, when there is a problem it gets fixed asap. Everyone loves money and they know they won't get it if their product isn't running at peak performance. All these things will take time, but will be fixed.

It's kind of funny, I haven't had any of the issues describe beyond the DDOS attacks Saturday evening. I suppose I can say I'm extremely lucky.

Because this is what folks who actualy play the game experience.

The posters that are spreading misinformation don't even play - their agenda is a baseles smear campaign.

I mean having valid complaints - hell yes - I'm 100% behind this.

But making crap up because of some personal beef with Trion - and not having anything to back it up - weak sauce :)

But how does that work? the video clearly shows a person who plays the game and also has a founders pack. How can it be misinformation or someone who doesn't play? Also the Archage official forums are talking about the same thing.

Don't get my intentions wrong, just find it weird your saying they're spreading misinformation when most of the information being released is by players who have paid and played the game :/

I found some good information from the video, but as you can see it is a couple days old now. If you go to the official forums most of the posts that were revolving around login problems and queue times are dwindling. There are smaller problems cropping up in the discussions but they are "normal" release problems. A lot of the newer discussions are starting to become common posts you would see on any other official forum like what race to play, and I saw one on how to avoid the queue.

Hardly a "catastrophe" . Just the kind of thing I expect to see on any launch day of any mmo . Some people really do like to make something out of nothing .

I know the OP for whatever reason would love to see this game fail but its just not going to happen because its a quality mmo .

I'm not sure why you would think the OP would want the game to fail just for posting a link to a pretty good video. I learned a lot from what she had to say. I quickly scanned the OPs history and it seems that he is fairly supportive of the game. You have to agree that most everyone that is hating on the game right now are those that paid $150 for it, and they would hardly want it to fail. The rest like me are waiting until tomorrow and information like what he posted is very helpful.

Without threads like this I wouldn't have known that since sometime yesterday after the DDoS things are running much better.

I agree with the OP, they got in over their heads with this launch. And it's not hard to see, their forums are FULL of complaints, the reddit thread as well.

I'm not defending AA, I have just been following the forums here, reddit, FB, and the official forums. Most of the complaints are of course not being able to login and the land problem. If we can take in account the DDoS attack (if it was real), then the rest of the problems are just your normal launch problems every new release has. The land problem is just something that was bound to happen with the design of the game.

edit: hmm, I guess I was defending AA. I think I meant I'm not a fanboi. :)

It was real - all games went down - Rift/Defiance/Archeage in US and EU.

Also a hacktivist group claimed responsibility

Also it was captured on global DDOS tracking sites.

Don't buy into the tinfoil hat "DDOS was fake" propaganda

I agree, but you have to throw that in as kind of a disclaimer or people just bring it up anyway. /shrug The more forum discussions I read the more I gather this launch hasn't been as bad as I first thought it was going to be. yay

Trion had one of the most successful launches of all mmorpgs with Rift.

To counter OP you give examlple of Rift bu t when mentioned Blizzard you go with Diablo 3? are you being ironic on purpose?

huh? re-read things again. Someone mentioned that Blizzard hadn't had problems with launches and I mentioned Diablo 3.

Edit: Diablo 3 had a disastrous launch. Oh sorry Thestrain, I had to re-read it myself. I was being ironic. :)

While AA's headstart is normal as far as MMO launches, the real test begins Tuesday. This is quite the venture releasing such a hyped MMO F2P on it's first official release. I don't think that has ever happened.

What may help on Tuesday, if you can call it help, is that there isn't much land left for other players. That may turn a good number of players away from the game.

Obviously Blizzard since no one really comes close to them.

The same guys that launched Diablo 3?
