Problem with Games in general: Lack of Intelligent A.I and Animation?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/13/13 8:10:22 PM
First of all i wanna connect on a previous post and say its not OCD when u can willingly stop it. There's a difference between involuntary doing something, and just actually focusing really hard and long, take for instance meditation in buddhism. If ur'e only OCD-ing for painting, or only OCD-ing once a week, that's not really OCD then, is it ?
Secondly locking in place usually goes by following this route : Engine limitation - programmer intelligence limitation - speeding up production and sacking full movement - animator incompetence - balancing and only after all of this can u even consider that it was really intended like that.
Not to mention programming a complex A.I. and in large quantities without using 99% of the cpu cores, requires mad math skills. |

I wasn't gonna intially gonna play CU, but now i just have to, after reading this post, i will have to play just to Troll, and don't worry i'll bring over Some Dota and LoL community they're the most fun ones(Toxic), considering how younger and younger, and more and more ignorant are the players in video games, due to games going mainstream, i cannot accept that here exists a game with a "Healthy Community" Maybe i should also ask Athenewins to play CU, that should bring out the worst 12 years old kiddos out to CU :P Don't worry im a Professional Troll, i've been doing this for 11 years now ! U can only except high quality, sophisticated trolling, with so much sarcasm, satire, and "Ad Hominem", that u wouldn't be able to fill the Earth full of it, if it was hollow on the inside xD :P

For Quake Live or any other extreme speed shooter, u would feel game smoothness with higher FPS, but for slow games, and movies and tv shows that difference would be greatly reduced, The test for if the human eye can notice up to 1000 Hz difference was done in a specific way. White and Black backgrounds interchange at fix Hz intervals, 60,120,240,480,960Hz, and within those intervals a specific picture is placed on one of the frames, for instance an picture of an airplane. So they mesaured how fast must the picture oscillate(change) for a subject to not see the airplane(a different preditermined picture for repetitions of the test). Test Subjects were able to notice the hidden picture, and notice the fluidity of change between white and black up to 960 Hz tested, over that value, the number of subjects seeing difference dropped explonentionally. http://www.overclock.net/t/904426/60fps-vs-120fps-who-will-see-who-first Also there's another test i'd like to find and link, black and white numbers counting on the screen, white for 1st frame, black for second and so on, and then comparision of 60 frames per second and, and 120 frames per second, with 60 numbers are blurry, they interchange, appear to jiggle, and are unstable, and very hard to clearly see, while on 120 frames per second, they are as clear as air. |

It has been scientifically proven that most humans can see up to 1000 Hz(FPS) the real cap is more around 960Hz/FPS. But u dont notice this directly u notice it with your peripheral vision, and in changes of really dark to really light colors. Also most people can notice the horrifying motion blur of LCD screens, and lightboost thankfully removes it completely. When i play a game at 60 fps, and i go watch a movie or tv show at 24 fps, it hurts my eyes for a few minutes because everything seems slow and choppy, and i keep stopping the video and trying to figure out if maybe my codecs are screwed up, yes i re-live the old bad/no codec slow downs from 7 years ago everytime i watch something on 24 fps, ... |

There's no need to worry about file transfer from the HDD to the SSD once u get it, if u prepare beforehand, like Quizzical said just partition the hard drive at the start of installation and prepare for the file transfer. The way i do it is, i make a partition for the Windows, and then a partition for everything else(a storage partition of sorts). Best option for you would be to make a 50-60GB partition for windows and only install basic programs there, and make sure u dont install any large programs or games, and then make second partition for most important games and programs u would want to move or reinstall to the SSD, and a 3rd storage partition for random stuff like e-books movies, game installation files, etc, ... This way u are sure that when u do get the SSD u can just format the partition on which your windows is located, so that u dont have any conflicts and problems with the old installation, and just keep all the other data because it is on seperate partitions. I can vouch for this because, i've been using this method for about 5 years now, and i am still running games and programs on windows 7 x64 installation from an windows XP installation from 7 years ago, for instance I've kept the same installation of warcraft 3:frozen throne and diablo II for 7 years and i've run it in 3 windows xp installations, 2 windows vista installations, and 3 windows 7 installations without a problem. |

Originally posted by Nitth They didnt do nothing, he's probably thinking of Dust 514, however Eve Online has never been put on consoles, and never will on any current console, its just impossible, console are too closed off and dumbed down system to even run games at 60 fps, you have to do 30 fps for most games, ... and the joysticks are the worst controllers for FPS games in the existance. |

The industry is expanding the definition of MMO
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/16/12 2:48:25 PM
How many times am i gonna have to correct everyone on mmo vs mmorpg discussion :( First of all mmo and mmorpg are coined terms for games(coined by 1 person), before any discussion, you need to decide do you accept what that person's definition of mmorpg and mmo is or not ? because if you disagree with it, and hate it then you're only arguying semantics when you try to prove a certain game is or is not mmo and mmorpg. Ok lets use some logic now :) MMO-Massively Multiplayer Online (which means its a broad designation for a myriad of sub-genre games, MMO-RPG\FPS\RTS\Racing\Social\etc ... MMO-Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game ( and here's the catch, with the merging of rpg into the fps genre with CoD 4, and merging of rpg in almost any and all genres of game, there is confusion now, almost every game has rpg elements regardless of its base type.) Do you see a pattern here ? a sub-genre definition of MMORPG has gain the same value as the main genre definition of MMO and the two are being used like they mean the same thing, like they are the same thing, people inter-change them all the time. That's main discussion problem( you're arguying freaking semantics, ...)
What's the original definion of MMORPG It must be: a) a game that's hosted on dedicated servers(Peer 2 Peer, and hybrid hosting methods were not taken into account when the term was coined so there is a big discrepancy between the original meaning and today's implied meaning. b) a game that has persistance(so any change to the game that any player does within the avaiable parameters of the given game must persist upon that player's quitting of the game.) c)virtual world(no distinction between instanced or seamless, so a virtual world enabling interaction between multiple people(no definition of whether the interaction is 1D,2D,3D,etc, ...) d)Massive(no default values so everybody can interpret this as they want, let's use logic: 1 person-single player 2 people-? co-op (with what 2-4 being co-op ? 2-6 ? 2-7 players ? real value uknown) between 2 to whatever a co-op limit is. Llets say 64 people lobby-based game ?(what if the game does not have a lobby ?, guild wars 1 style, vindictus style ? WRONG WRONG WRONG, you use all the players connected to the game servers(backend hardware, not WoW-style servers) as a measure of massive, so not the players within a single area/instance/shard. Ok 64 a common max number of players for multiplayer games in the past decade and a half, let's take Battlefield 3 for instance, not a mmorpg, not even an mmo, 64 players max per map, but then again more players connected to a server, see the connection here, it's hard to discern what you should use to test for massive ammounts of players. And here's the second confusion which produces argument, people confusing servers from a hardware point of view with servers from a consumer's point of view. Let's use logic again, The definition MMORPG, would take into account the amount of people connected to a backend server as a hardware component, and conclude that if there is a "massive ammount" of people connected to it that game is then a MMO(Its massive, it's multiplayer and it requires online connection to access the server, This would mean any game that has more than 64 people connected to a dedicated hardware server station is an MMO(regardless of if those even 3 of those 64 players can actually interact with each other on a specific shard). A server station can service multiple "wow-style servers a consumer sees on 1 "server"(shard), hence more confusion entails. But then again today, because of changes that happened, we might have to consider a instance of the map or game world as 1 server, as you would consider a WoW/GW2/anything server/shard and just forget the mumbo-jumbo happenning on the other side. if games with up to 64 people are still not considered mmos, let's take 64 as a value so with co-op ending somewhere between 2 and 64 people, and multiplayer games ending with 64 people, any game with more than 64 people connected at the same time, in a persistant world with the capabality of interaction with each-other in a visual or otherwise different manner is an MMO. 64 players- infnite ammount of players - Massive Multiplayer Online So does the game have Role-Playing Features ?, do you control a distinct avatar of some sort, is a fantasy or a sci-fi, or some other distinct setting ?, are combat and other systems reminiscent of Dungeons&Dragons or similar things, are the dice rolling the background(does it matter if there is dice rolling or not ?) Now wouldn't all of this cement a game into a being an RPG ?, a now broad definion for pretty much everything that's allows any sort of customization or item randomization.
Then in conclusion what i consider an MMORPG, is a slight addition to the original mmorpg definion and that is a : Game that has more than 64 people connected together in a virtual world, Interacting with each other in any dimensional manner, While having the power to influence that world, and for the changes to persist through logging out and logging back into the game. In addition the previous, players must connect to a big server in a manner, and have data on the company servers that is not present on a personal computer, online access of course mandatory, and i take any system from any RPG game ever made as proof that the game qualifies as RPG itself.

Ten days till end of the world..
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/10/12 9:58:44 PM
Ever since i started actually using me brain, and thinking logically, my IQ has miraculously doubled. Oh and btw don't spread this prophetic words of wisdom, MENSA will go bankrupt.
Exactly :), So many revolutionary ideas from genius people, and they all somehow dissapear into thin air, never to see the light of day for wide-spread public use. In the rare case they don't, it takes ages for them to be integrated into the society. I mean come on, mainstream 3D-printers already, just stop making Big Brother, and other reality shows, and u can basically use that money to give away 3D printers and wireless chargers to people for free !. ( not to mention thatprobably less then 1% of a yearly income of all money from the "developed world" would probably fix all third world country food, water, shelter and hygiene problems for a decade or two, ...) I mean just look at graphic cards and processors, every new manufacturing process is less of a upgrade than a previous one, why not just skip a year or two ahead, heck skip silicon all together and go straight for carbon nanotubes, why advance from 32nm to 5nm in a span of 10 years, that's just dumb. Graphics have been on hold basically from 2007 thx to consoles, so if they can skip 5 freaking years, why can't Intel and AMD skip a few years and not release stuff, and just go straight to picometers :( |

Ten days till end of the world..

Best example of this is Timeline Zero, which predicted the "Event" a few days before the 21st December, but it's maker pushed it to coincide with the 21st December, for exposure(educated guess from meself). I don't "believe" in any of the predictions, nor do I have faith that anything will happen, however i do HOPE we get some Alienz finally (public world-wide exposure) xD Technology is progressing too slowly, need to speed things up :( Some people say technology is evolving too fast and presenting problems, i say it's not evolving fast enough. Don't forget walking around your ship in-flight, going from helm to guns to cargo, to possibly armory, and also walking on the outer hull of ships with magnetic boots. Maybe you can get a spec opcs group on the outside of a cargo carrier, and jack it in flight :) |
