I thought the whole point of "APEX" or any other such "video game currency" was to get around certain laws when it comes to RMT as it is considered not to have any value?

Edit: And if you go the Skyforge site... there is no mention of dual wielding. They do mention Two-Handed ... which is not the same.

Aye lol.

THF or two handed fighting means using one weapon held with both hand.

TWF or two weapon fighting mean dual wielding which means using two weapons, one held in each hand.

Crazy lol plus ships over 1k$ have LTI lmao
It can stay dead for all  I care as I do not feel they stayed true to the core of wizardry games.  They took a good IP and tried to turn it into a FFA, full loot pvp game with bad gameplay and tried to peddle it as hardcore.

In case you were not aware this site now covers single player games.     It is not about being mislead so much as they new about having to cut offline mode BUT not saying anything and letting people buy into the beta and then 1 month from "release" cutting out anyone that helped them test the game from a refund.  Stuff happens and they made a decision to cut out offline that is fine what is not so fine is cutting out those that had planned to play this game as a single player game. I have been visiting their forums for a good long time now and it is quite surprising how many of their backers in that time mentioned not playing the game as a mmo but rather as a single player game so the decision to cut those that "helped test the game", cause you know alpha/beta, IMHO is more about not wanting to give the money back and shite move.
Hmm is that because we talk about single player games on occasion?  Because I don't really see a long list of single player  games on this site.    And the name of the site is a bit misleading.  But I will accept what you say.   I don't entirely disagree.   But the real issue here is do they have to give the money back?  Pretty much the answer to that is no.   Is it a shite move?    Probably in a way yes.   But they did try.   And that I think is worth something here.   Remember you are donating money in hope that a game will be made.   It is not guaranteed that a game will be made.    That is the fact that many of you are overlooking here.   If you look at that Seldon Crisis kickstarter, many people called BS on that one.  And that was the choice you had here too.  People wanted to believe it could be done.   In Seldon they said forget it.   Nowhere does it say that if you donate money, we have to give it back if you are unhappy with what we create.  You donate money and hope the end result is to your satisfaction.  If not well, sorry.   If you can't accept the risk then why are you donating?  Bottom line.
I would like to clear up a few things, you seem to be under the impression that "I want a refund". That is not the case I bought into beta just a couple weeks ago.

The refund problem is that the game being sold (when I bought the game a couple weeks ago)  was in beta, not kickstarter, and  was suppose to be having an offline mode. Now this changes not much for me as I planned on playing it "online" BUT I had been frequenting the forum for a long time before this and even David Braben was assuring people on redit the game would be playable with no internet connection and there was a surprising amount of people wanting this.

I found this kind of strange but realize many people want this and they were assured this would be possible past kick starter, throughout alpha and all the way through beta up until this announcement.

Dunno but this just seems wrong to me and seems contrary to what was "advertised". I have no problem with them saying yada yada we tried and decided to focus on online only but then they could have in good faith said bah we will allow refunds cause we also assured people offline would happen.

Hell if you read newsletter #50 they even admit to have been "struggling" with offline and that they should have been more open about it or "shared" is the word they use, yet they kept on saying OH yes we will have an don't be afraid to give me your money and come help test the game.

Why wait so long to announce this?
In retrospect we should have shared the fact that we were struggling with this aspect with the community, but we were still trying to find a solution. As features were implemented, for the best results we chose to prioritise delivery of the online single and multiplayer experiences, with a view to providing the offline version later in development. We had to make a decision for the good of the game, and that is what we did.

Bottom line the only people that were donating was those that did so during the kickstarter the rest simple bought into alpha or beta.

Originally posted by Boneserino Why are people who wanted a single player game coming to an MMO site to complain?   Thats like me going to Rockstar forums and complaining GTA is not an MMO.   And do you people honestly think they tried to mislead you?   I find that rather naive and basically ignorant.   Why would they intentionally want to alienate fans of their game??  Just for shits and giggles?  Really?   They had to swallow a good bit of pride just in admitting they were unable to do what they intended.   It just wasn't going to work, and since this is an indie game, wasting resources trying to make it work, would only frustrate more people who are waiting to play this game.   Now I can agree that if you paid money, expecting a single player experience you should be compensated.    But the absolute paranoia of some people towards game developers, that they are the spawn of  satan or something,  is frankly alarming to me.

Sooo glad I held off on backing this... the offline single player option was one of the MAIN reasons i was eager to buy it. My worry seems to be rewarded... if I wanted a forced online only learn as you go and be shot by others experience, I'd go back to EO. Surely one to still watch but certainly one I won't be dropping coin on any time soon.

The single player mode is still there... You just have to connect online to access it..

Indeed but some people do not want to play online or can not and were meaning to play the offline mode only, w/e reason they had for this is irrelevant as the game was suppose to offer this mode until this very recent announcement.

If they simply let people get refunds for those wanting to play offline things wouldn't be such a mess right now.

Indeed, in that very thread there was mention of Limit Theory along with a really nice video showing its potential. I think some may move on over.

Because everything you read on the Internet is true, right?

IF you recognized that site you might not be so skeptical.

What A slap in the face to all those that wanted offline more than online and from my visit to their forums there were MANY. David Braben should be ashamed of the way this is being handled.

He pulled a classic bait and switch and there is no arguing it.

So back in the day I used to do radio/tv and vcr repairs and back then we used simple weller stations with temp control. Worked great and never had much trouble tinning the tips or having tips go to crap on us.

I haven't worked electronics for a long time and haven't really done any soldering in a long while but have been doing some hobbyist projects lately that need me to do some soldering and while I have my old desoldering pump and a few other knick knacks my soldering station is nowhere to be found.

That said I have been looking into buying a new one but though I might ask for some advice since things can change in 10 or 15 years.

Was looking at this weller wes51 analog but I am seeing some really bad reviews both on the amazon site and elsewhere with claims that they are made in mexico now and quality has gone down the drain.

I am also seeing lots of peeps suggesting to check out the hakko FX 888 which apparently has been replaced by the fx 888d which is a digital version.

Is hakko any good and any reason to go digital?

Lots of these new model stations seem gimmicky with auto shut off and temp locks which seem to me mean more chance of these station having problems down the line.

Ideally I would like an analog station with temp control knob that uses good tips that wont corrode after low usage and will not have any tinning issues.

Any advice from peeps still using these on a day to day basis?

CEO Scott Hartsman should learn that if he wants to fool most gamers he needs to sprinkle in some truth  with his BS.

Wife and I played on Calliel and while we had fun we stopped playing before we it 50.  Labor points usage was just too restrictive but mostly we could see there was no point to keep on playing and deal with the frustration of trying to compete against bots, cheaters and the like.

We stopped playing before the auroria fiasco and that fudge up just seems to indicate to us we made the right call.

Dare I say it.....will BD allow such rampant botting , hacking, duping and exploiting of game mechanics?

If not I would guess BD will beat AA by far.

BD will be hard pressed to have a worse launch than AA.

The issue here is that a fair number of current E:D supporters are people who played the original Elite 30 years ago (quite incredible really). Some of them still play the original on emulated systems. That's only possible because the original game is a fully offline SPG.

The expectation was created that there would be an offline mode for E:D. Now, ONE MONTH before launch, there's an off-handed announcement in the latest newsletter simply stating that there are no longer any plans for an offline mode.

People are upset at the tone of delivery and timing of the news. It has tarnished FD's reputation somewhat, because it appears to be less than honest communication. Nobody will believe that they suddenly discovered last week that they can't have an offline version.

So much for transparency. Let's hope the next surprise announcement is more pleasant...

Agree with this but anyway you look at it FD is going to take lots of flak for it.  Bad move on their part.

Will exploration just be a thing in the single player version of the game (Squadron 42 right?) or in the MMO version too?

Not sure how it will go but think it will be a mmo thing too.  TBH right now I am not interested in SC even though I have bought a couple ships, btw I am waiting to see how the anvil carrack turns out, as there is nothing for explorers to do........ for my exploration needs I am playing ED atm.

I would wait to at least see what to see what the carrack concept will offer as it seem to be a explorer ship. TBH as an explorer enthusiast I feel we don't have a great choice especially if you do not want to pledge 300$+

Also all concept sales come with LTI.

Do you know any bar that offer for free coffee? If yes, then I'm wondering how they pay bills, salaries, ... or all (owner and employees) for free to make you and like you happy to enjoy every day and not spend a cent?

Apples and oranges.

I have a monopoly board game I paid quite well for and it has brought me over 30 years of fun and I only paid for it once.
