Some are saying the bans are ongoing so those not banned yet may still be but yea smells like rug sweeping to me too.

Would just like to inject that this bug was bug reported in alpha by some reports and in CB, the latter of  which I am sure.

The same bug also hit STO previously so this very common bug/problem with coding should  have been on their check list.

Usaully I would say "lesson learned now move on" but with one of the founder packs being 200$ this is kind of hard to do for some people and I can't blame them.  I CAN blame Cryptic for an epic fail though especially since this bug WAS KNOWN to them.

1. Agreed there is too many currencies and not enough being done with gold/silver/copper.

2.  AD is hard to get unless you exploit like many have done.  It's sad some people that havent put a penny in the game are fully geared and have over 4mill AD to play with though some are enjoying a ban now. also AD and all currency should be tradable between your alts or even with other people excepting maybe glory points.

3. The cash shop is over priced on some items, make the mount cost 50% less but be per character rather than account wide. AT end game the enchantment runes will screw you over, they go to rank 10 yet no rank 10 drops you have to make em so get out your wallet, you will need the cash shop to do it. You can see this in the game files yourself  or look here .  AYe respec should not be in the cash shop.

3. PvP truth is this game should have neverhad pvp. Btw you CAN avoid rogue attacks rather easily and GF is not OP lol.  Plain facts is TR is the ONLY striker class in the game and as such SHOULD rule in one vs one pvp.  Also the scaling doesn't work well at all.

PvP is going to screw over pve in this game with all the "balance" issues it entails. DnD pve is about imbalance.

4. You mention chat but can only say its annoying in PVP ? lol How about general zone chat? They need to add a premade trade tab and maybe even fix the dang grouping system because as it is now it sucks badly.  DDO's grouping system far outshines this buggy crap we have in Neverwinter.

Most gamers get a 60 Hz TN monitor just because it's cheapest.  120 Hz will take several milliseconds off of the average display latency just because it's 120 Hz rather than 60 Hz, but they tend to have rather poor image quality.

Most types IPS monitors have awful display latency, often in the ballpark of 30 ms or so.  They may look beautiful, but an extra 30 ms display latency is roughly the difference between a high end and a low end gaming rig.

The compromise in the middle is eIPS, which has display latency a little worse than TN, but still usually under 10 ms.  eIPS also offers better image quality than TN, and isn't as expensive as most other types of IPS.  That might be what you're looking for.

Are you saying the 120hz moniters but have a lesser image quality than a 60hz ?

A 120 Hz TN monitor isn't necessarily any worse in any way than a 60 Hz TN monitor.  But the image quality is going to be much worse than you'd expect to get from any sort of IPS monitor because you're stuck with TN.

120 Hz is approximately one frame per 8.3 ms, while 60 Hz is one per 16.7 ms.  An average moment in time is halfway between two frames, so if we assume for the sake of simplicity that a monitor instantly warps from one frame to the next (even though it's false, but that's okay because it doesn't bias the computations), then on average, when you look at a 120 Hz monitor, the frame has been up for 4.2 ms, as compared to 8.3 ms for a 60 Hz monitor.  So on average, the 120 Hz monitor only takes about 4.2 ms off of your display latency.  And even that assumes that you've got hardware that can deliver 120 Hz frame rates to the 120 Hz monitor, which is much harder to do than 60 frames per second to the 60 Hz monitor; if your video card can only do 60 frames per second either way, it cuts down on the advantage of 120 Hz somewhat.

The difference between TN and eIPS can also be about that.  If you're comparing 120 Hz TN versus 60 Hz eIPS, then you get an average display latency difference in the ballpark of 10 ms.  That's enough that if you used one for a while and then used the other for a while, you could likely tell the difference.  But it's not enough to be a huge problem.

Obviously, you'd rather have that 10 ms faster display latency.  But you'd also rather have the higher image quality of any sort of IPS rather than a TN monitor.  Alas, the current state of technology is that you can't have both at once, so it's a question of trade-offs.

Ah ya, you were comparing 120hz to 60 hz and then stated lack of image quality so it read like you meant between the the 60 and 120 hz tn rather than the tn and ips and that just didn't seem to make sense to me lol.

What the differenct between eIPS, IPS  and sIPS, just price and quality or is there more to it regarding response times etc.

That Dell one Ridelynn mentioned seems kind of interesting especially since I don't play many fps games and my wife was never a fan of those ones to start with.

@badspock Like I said in my OP I don't want anything over 24".

@Ridelynn Thats what I usaully do for my tv and the like but I live far far far far out in the boonies and and the places around here have the same 2 or 3 models.

@eyelolled Thanx for the link, btw I watch my porn on my 47" sony bravia hdtv which is also what my pc is hooked up too and I enjoy it greatly, except when playing games that don't let you adjust font size. AH lol that thread you link me too is like 7 years old - 03-08-2006, 08:07 PM so not very relevant.

Ridelynn Do you game very much and if so hows those eIPS do with the bleeding, tearing and input lag etc?

hey I am going to be setting up a pc for my son and he will inherit my wifes monitor, an acer x213hq.  Want to get something nicer for my wife.

Will be used primarily for gaming and web surfing, some videos etc, looking for something like 24" in size. Can't have bigger it wouldn't fit on the desk properly. Would like nice colors as well as a low response time.

I am really not up to date on monitors and what to avoid etc.  From what I have read I think most gamers go for a tn 120hz type monitor as the IPS monitors seem to be plagued with ghosting  and a high response time. I have also read that the LED backlit monitors have some bleeding issues so not sure I would want that.

Any advice peeps to get me started?  Oh the monitor currently in use has 5ms response time so anything like that or lower would be fine I am guessing.

There is... and there isn't. To my understanding the rules of the game is based on  the DnD NEXT if that is something you are familuar with. Obviously the lore and setting are DnD associated as are the classes etc.

Of course, if you are an avid DM or Player then you might be a 'little' put off as you need to understand the basis of an MMO is present. Especially the kind you might find associated with Perfect World. However, the game is fun and their are lots of nods to the world and setting you might be familuar with.

Plus, with the foundry you can actually make your own content. So, if you like to be a DM you can make your own scenario for others to enjoy and to enjoy yourself.

It's based on 4E not DnD next.  It's more MMO than DnD when it comes to the game mechanics. It has a DND background and lore though.

Some of the poeple in the ddo forums are at minus 900 pounds in their bank accounts, have no money for food, gas, etc etc. One of them even has a young child and has had to ask friends and family to help with money and food.

We warned them not to do the changes they wanted to implement and they didn't listen. This has to be the biggest fuk up from Turbine I have ever seen.  It's not just not recieving a store purchase or problem with a game or bug within the game but with real people with real families.

Whom ever was in charge of this fuk up needs to be fired, nothing less.  Unbelievable!

[QUOTE]Hi everyone.

Firstley thank you for the thread hirosue. I am one of the unfortunate ppl to have been hit by this. And yes ive submitted a ticket and awaiting turbines response.

This is unacceptable I am £900 down. it has cleared my account, my card has been frozen. I have a 2 year old girl who I cannot provide for and have had to BEG family and friends for money for food.

This post is not an attack on any players on here, im just hoping tht turbine will read this and understand the position they have put me in.
After this is sorted I will never ever give turbine my bank details again. I will never play DDO again which is a damn shame as its such a good game. A lot of my friends tht play are also cancelling there subs.

Turbine please contact me asap so we can get this sorted and I hope anybody else that is suffering gets sorted soon.
Thanks

what you think how much ppls will play this game , will be  successful game , and will be  worth play this game?

and will be game p2w?

If you love Tera, maybe. If you love D&D, Neverwinter Nights or anything unique, not a chance.

Not sure what Tera has to do with his post or D&D for that matter.

The combat is very Tera like.

Depends on what you enjoy . IF you want deep charater customization you will be disappoionted.

If you want easy jump in and play arcade type gameplay you will like it.

Why would I play this game knowing that when it first becomes available to play I am months behind all you kids who don't work?

I was looking to buy the Founders Pack, but what is the point?  I can't get in early to get name I want or be "special" in any way right?

Am I being a lil bitch?  F2P has to "earn my money" and this is not the way to do it.  I work for a living and am willing to pay for fun when I'm not working, but if F2P caters to the unemployed, then more power to them if they can make $ doing it.

Eh founder that got the 200$ pack get a whopping 5 days headstart and guardians that paid 60 geta 3 day head start. lol

No wipes after april 25.

It's not the first time they do this, they messed around with the HoTN pack and drows too. Sad to see it's becoming a habit. Hopefully they will fix this for those that did purchase the starter kits.

IF I may suggest peeps that bought the Guardian pack need to check first thing that they are getting the right horse. It's suppose to be a level 3 horse that doesn't need to be leveled or upgraded.

Yeah it's that oldschool dungeoneering feel that DDO accomplished, and that NWO is accomplishing as well. No other mmo has ever managed it in my opinion.

Not to argue or belittle anyones opinion but I would like to inject my opinion.   The dungeons in Neverwinter are NOTHING at all like dungeons in DDO.

They are straightforward and boring. Traps can seriously wipe a party in DDO where as in Neverwinter you can waltz in and out traps or not and you can even buy items that let you "use" other classes skills.

I do however beleive some of the foundry authors are doing better jobs than the actual devs from Cryptic.

I never voice up in general in this forum but ill have a go and take a few shots. I think the character creation is horrible. I just cant pin point though what i really dont like. I find them bland very bland. I also am really unsure how to play this game.

Do you treat it like diablo or a traditional mmo like wow?

Is it a mixture of both?

Just generally not sure how to tak it.

p.s i have no exp with D & D

I treat it as a random mmo like Vindictus (but with the knowledge vindictus does rooting much much better) with a little DnD flavoring in the background.

If you are new to DnD and want a feel for what it really is try another game stay away from this one.

Well, this is the first big title since the release of GW2 I was interested in checking out.

Rooted combat? Are they daft?

Scrath this game from the list. I can never, ever go back to rooted combat. In fact, that there are still a fee GW2 skills that root you has recently started to drive me nuts.

Neverwinter devs, time to join the 21st century. Rooted skill use in an MMO is now completely unacceptable. Completely. You are literally throwing all your development time and money out the window with one dumb decision.

Unreal.

Unacceptable? I don't think all casting skills should root, but many should depending on range and power of attack. Giving too much range and too much power allows for an easy combat system, kiting mobs or players can be far too easy, rooting is a fix for such problems.

I think you're sensationalizing this a bit too much, they've thrown all of their money and development away because a segment of players dislike something about the game?

I think it's more a question of what you like and maybe the fear of change.

Some people, like myself, feel that rooting is an old tired method that needs to evovle or die off. Some people are afraid of change and would rather that the old 1980 arcade style of play remain popular and even go so far as to claim its a step forward and requires more "strategy".

Some will agree some will not.

It feels more like a Diablo clone, or GW1 and DDO, its instanced, its online, but not an MMO since there are no real open zones.

There are many games like this, it does not necessarily make them bad games, but it does not make them MMOs either, can we have a sepperate name for these online rpgs or action rpgs.

You do realize the name of the game is Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter. I guess I just don't understand why people keep complaining that this game feels like DDO. Of course it does, it's a followup of that game. It's not WoW 2.0, it's DDO 2.0 with action combat.

Hell no, this is not in any shape or form DDO2.

It has nothing what so ever in commun with DDO except the DND logo and even then Neverwinter doesn't deserve to have that IMO.

If you want to play A DND game you play DDO, if you want a boring rooting arcade style game with some DnD flavoring in the background (names and lore) you play Neverwinter.

I am happy it is not NWN3 becuase it is Cryptic making it.
Maybe offer them a virtual cookie after telling them how much the game sucks ?
