That feeling when you accomplished being the second jedi on a server, only to realize that you were to be hunted by every damn bounty hunter for not being first.

I was in that boat, too. I had an extremely early unlock on Eclipse server (probably in first 5 after completing my 27th profession ;/). I was being hunted like a dog. So fun.

It was even dirtier when both of us had bounty hunters with triple sliced scatter pistols. We were frenemies, we would assist each other with other bounty hunters, but if we were ever caught idle, it was fair game.

Want a real WoW comparison?

The jump from Exotic to Ascended is the exact same jump from Tier 1 to Tier 2. Hop on the treadmill and enjoy your shallow dungeons.

Really? There was only 3% difference between T1 and T2 in WoW?

And since when is WoW mostly skill based game?

Tab targetting and auto attacking 3skilled5me.

Anyways, 14% difference in stats from t1-t2, mostly due to some areas of double resists. (Not counting set bonuses, too many variables and inconsistencies.)

So let's take the worst case scenario, the ring difference. 92str to 81str, this is a 12% difference in strength, and that's uninfused. Do you not see a problem here?(Actually I believe earrings can create a bigger stat difference via infusion)

Now consider the player and dev relationship right now. Their current most popular dungeon is a shallow repetitive dungeon that has gear checks due to a gimmicky unavoidable application on Jade Maw.(Confirm/Deny ?)

Now take a wild gander at what a developer would conclude based off of their dungeon data?

It absolutely amazes me how people can discard any form of cognition the moment their favorite company does anything. It's as if 75% of the player base immediately started to gaily clap their wrists together at the thought of a new dungeon, without any attention to the fact that they pulled a MASSIVE PAUL BARNETT on each and every one of you. . . AGAIN!

So where does that leave you?

Either someone that enjoys the current direction of the game and loves officially being lied to, or somone that hates the direction of the game and also hates being lied to. Not really sure if the former constitutes as battered housewife syndrome or not, maybe someone with some superior backround knowledge of psychology could help with this one?

Someone going from 1281 Str to 1292 Str, for example... no, don't see a big deal with that at all. You try an compare the items to each other, but without scale those numbers are meaningless when they're that small. You're talking closer to a 0.8% increase.

There's a reason they hard-locked level 50 Fractal.

10 points if you can guess why!

Anyways like I said before, cognitive thought seems to escape those that keep their head in the sand.

if you are expecting to get some return from gaming other than the enjoyment of those hours i'd either go pro gamer or stick with another hobby :)

Or profit off of regional restrictions like any entrepreneur would. People will often pay more than quadruple the price for something if they can't get access to it themselves. Such as playing on the Master Race(most up to date) version of a localized game that often times will fall behind in updates.

Oh lord here we go...

How dare A-net toss the hardcore a bone and give them something to work for.

Look... you don't have to bother with fractals. You could hit max level, level alts, craft nice gear, run normal dungeons, do map completion, run dailies, complete achievements, run lower level zones with guildies for fun, WvW, sPVP...

This game offers so much yet people seem to focus on this tiny bit of content designed for the players that want to get insanely far into fractals.

This isnt World of Warcraft where there's 20+ tiers of raid gear and raiding is the only viable content at max level.

The majority of the stuff you gain at max level in GW2 are cosmetic...

You wont be considered a second class citizen in GW2 for not having Ascended gear, like you would in WoW for wearing blues and crafted epics.

This.  But moreso than the WoW comparison, my point was that people who don't get "insanely far" into fractals aren't missing anything because the visuals and mechanics (apart from agony) are exactly the same.  The people who would miss that extra difficulty that the few high level fractals provides are the only ones who are going to care.  Everything else is the same.

Want a real WoW comparison?

Catering to the WoW crowd, been muling over the idea of going back to GW1. If you think it's going to stop here you're extremely naive.

If there’s one thing that Cryptic Studios has always done well, it’s combat. Go as far back as City of Heroes or even as recently as Star Trek Online. Cryptic Studios knows how to do active combat with fun, flashy visual effects and Neverwinter is no different in this regard.

You have now entered the realm of WHAT, tread lightly, or forever lose your mind.

Seriously, what? Explain this shit, explain it like a mathematician!

Some may be programmers for NASA, some may have dropped out of high-school and can barely hold down a job, some can be youtube celebrities who do video tutorials on Origami.

The truth is if you walked into one on the street, you would never know it.

I'll weigh in for a better tomorrow. Yes.

Every game that enters the industry no matter how big or small, will forever affect and shape the industry forever. The game's success speaks volumes towards investors as do their failures.

For instance, I was paying out massive amounts of money when playing vindictus, up until episode 10. Ludicrous drop rates, weekly lockout timers, and the removal of the ability to solo some of the new content by introducing player requirement checks. Yeah, a kick in the teeth to any of the old players still hanging onto the game. So I decided that this game was no longer worth my money and told Daniel S. Kim to sod off. All because I don't want to see Linear progression, content lock-outs, and drop rates so low that you're forced to depend on the market place rather than diligently farming the mats yourself.

A different scenario would be SWTOR, I don't want to see stagnation and I loathe their wasteful budget management as well as the thought of funding the profligate EA.

Essentially the reason I complain is to that of why I cannot give money towards a game or what it stands for.

The greater challenge was not dozing off during the story mission, especially after level 50. Everything after level 50 seemed so tripe, like it was rushed to make the launch window. Not even going to speak about how insulting it was to do the last few missions. The thing I can do at the moment is compare which was worse. Alien: Colonial Marines, or the whole Zhaitan shit?

...because I'm not seeing it.  Open to all arguments but please try to stay logical and back them up.

Looking to see if this is more a personal choice (opinion) or actually a bonafide benefit (or constraint) to the player.

Whats your view?

Go!

Balancing the game around the Cash Shop.

Interesting.  Can you expand on your point so I get a better idea of what you mean?

Making assumptions, if we agree that F2P are not really free and that games need to be subsidized for cost isnt balance around the cash shop the core of the model?

Second, is your argument that cash shops are inbalanced?  And if so what would be your recommendation to balance?

Definitely the sensitive area of F2P where developers need to tread lightly.

Fiesta a free to play mmo from Outspark sold percent increases to stat boost. Around level 60 content not only demanded a player to have maxed out weapons, but also needed be using these boosts in hopes of being successful.

Another more modern game would be Warframe, a game where you can level you gear as well as your "rank". All equipment is stat locked at level 15, and a player can only gain access to level 30 with the use of Catalysts/Reactors. These Reactors can be obtained through "special" Alerts, which only occur about 3 times each day, the chance that a catalyst will be rewarded is about once a week. Reactors however are about once a month, and they are used for your Warframe, which is arguably the most important piece of your gear. The other option is daily log-in reward, upon receiving 7 daily log in rewards you can have a chance to get Reactors/Catalyst. Getting a reactor/catalyst from these daily log ins are near impossible. So essentially the item that you need to progress within Warframe cannot be farmed, but only awarded through RNG events. However you could always spend cash to progress.

Go!

Lack of Content and Balance were the main issues many had.

Quite the fancy ornate sword, wouldn't you agree? The question is what are the stats on it?

Well they're absolutely stupid in my opinion, but hey if you're going to buy $1400 USD worth of gold it better be worth it right?

313 Attack
88 Defence Penetration
207 Crit
Chance to regen 10 Chi
Chance to get "Enlightenment" stack (30% chance)

4 Hexa gem slots

Bind on equip (can be traded)

Nothing too over the top right? But what is the "Enlightenment " you might ask. Well it's the stupid part.

* Enlightment - on 10 stacks, you get a buff with the name of the weapon. Effects are...
Health and Defence +10000 (yes 10k)
Block and Evasion +1500
Health regen in battle +2500
Buff last 30 seconds. When the buff ends, all cooldowns are refreshed.

Who in their right mind would do this to their own game?

Just to infuriate you more, have a video of what it's like to hit god status in a game that was once considered a big deal in Korea.(A somewhat familiar tune for Korean games. . . VINDICTUS)

This is like making a "I like DmC" thread on 4chan.

There is no best, there is only how a game is designed. For instance, would you say that TF2 would be better if everyone was homogenized? How about Forge(lulshamannerfs)?

At the same time, how would you feel if Marauders from Path of Exile could only tank, and Witches could only fill dps roles?

But what I am more curious about, is the fact that people actually think that there are not tanks nor healers in Guild Wars 2. I can safely say that if you've played Guild Wars 2 up to this day, and still don't understand the aggro mechanic intricacies, then you definitely did not make it passed FL50, and probably never will seeing as FL51 is walled off.

Suckle on the Homogenization!

Tastes good, does it not?

A bigger question is what is NCsoft's cut out of Guild Wars 2? Without this being known, no useful conclusion can be drawn, other than what is plainly presented by the graph. I am curious to see how the region graph changes with the release of Blade and Soul over in North America. From what I hear about KR and Korean culture, Blade and Soul is the best thing since sliced bread.

The UI changes destroyed my game, every time a player runs into and out of my minimap radius my hud goes into epileptic shock. From what I hear this has to do with the map still wanting to add little green dorito's marking players.

On the other hand I love the nerf to "Call outs".

However they still didn't fix playing on low graphics giving the advantage of seeing stealth unit perfectly.
