Get a trial key and check it out. The starting areas for most race/class combos are pretty fun, but imo after you get to about lvl 20 and get your mount the game starts to not have any real point. I mean money no longer matters as you cannot really do anything with it worth while, crafting is a joke, and the ORvR really serves no purpose either.

The game was fun for me for awhile, but burned our on it very fast...sad it had alot of promise imo.

My sentiments exactly, I will wait for release and then wait for a couple of months before spending my money and hopping on board only to cancel before the 1st month sub is complete.

The reason you dont see so much advertising is the fact you wont HAVE to buy the game so there is no need for that,I am sure the will show the game a bit more come release time but for this game you wont have to pre-order etc.

As a self professed MMO Junkie I must have more than WAR, and I have tried most every other one...TCoS just looks so fun

 

Just trying to put to bed about the pre-orders etc,the game will be free to d/l and the trial area so no need to go surfing the net for game stores that sell it,you wont find them unless you want the CE copy of the game,trust me mate as maybe a few posters will tell you I am looking forward to this game also :)

As always daylight01, thanks for the information, that's why I pm'ed you about the game, always intelligent well thought out and positive posts from what I have seen.

But, I am still a mmo junkie and am now getting the shakes

I'm not a Closed Beta tester and I am excited about it too.

While I personally do not like the closed mouth style of  TCoS or Darkfall, from a business standpoint I really like it. Having been in BETA for AoC and WAR, I think they ar playing it smart; both AoC and WAR made huge promises about what they would have in game and to some extent they did not deliver. Look at the player base for both of these games and I believe they are both substantially lower than anticipated due to the way they ran BETA. So while I wish they were more open, think about the buzz that we all have when discussing these 2 games. Heck, even the trolls can't stop talking about them

Will start with my history, I played EQ1, EQ2, WoW, CoH/CoV, Vanguard, LoTRO, PotBS, AoC, and now WAR. I am somewhat of a MMO junkie, but when I finmd one that I like, I play it for a few years usually like EQ1, WoW, and LoTRO.

I played CE BETA in WAR and was really thinking that this was going to be the game to fill my addictive self for a few years, but like the OP I am now feeling like it is very repetetive no matter what class or race I play. Crafting is not very polished and very easy, as is levelling and PvE. I am currently thinking of returning to games I tried in the past, but not sure for how long I will stick with WAR, at this point if I finish the month I will be shocked.

I know how you feel, I am concerned that ORvR does not seem to have taken off, I think they should remove T3/T4 scnearios and force ORvR. You can do Bastion Stair raids for boss encounters, but seems most people are stuck in scenario mode and imo that is killing the experience

Not sure, I am currently playing WAR, but there is no end game. I think ORvR is not as big a hit as they thought it would be. TCoS, looks ok and Darkfall might launch before 2010

So I am not sure, I am thinking of dropping WAR, but since I am a MMO junkie I will probably try TCoS and Darkfall, also thinking of playing Vanguard again.

Have played LoTRO since release, but now find myself looking for a new adventure as I have become bored. After the starting zone for each race, all quests lead to the same area, Bree, so even if you make an alt, you end up doing all the same quests you did with your other toons (50LM, 45 burg, 33Capt + other deleted alts). Once you reach max level there is little to do as rep rewards are not very good and little raid content. Also, PvMP is a novel idea, but it is very much grind like no matter the side you are on. If you are a creep, you are very underpowered and can be owned by any half decent level 45+ freep. The big part about PvMP is it is never ending, there is no point where you win anything, you grind till you get tired of it and move on and the rewards for it are not very good either.

Immersion, is good as the story flows thru the entire game, but and I know it is still relativelly new, it loses it's luster once you hit 50...sad cuz I liked it till I hit 50. Anyway, just my opinion fwiw
