News, no English speaking servers based in Europe. SOE have advertised for a significant period of time that there will be English speaking servers based in Europe. Now, just a few days before launch and after many Europeans have pre-ordered the game, we are now informed on the official forums that English speaking servers are based in USA only! This means for Europeans: 1. We will now be subjected to high pings - not the 30 to 40ms we might have been expecting but try 250 to 600ms, plus more spikes 2 Most other players will be 5-8 hours behind you. So you can now look forward to running through underpopulated zones; struggling to find other people to group with; guilds raiding at 3-6 AM your time; all GM events happening when you're snuggly tucked up in bed etc. 3. Maintenance taking place during USA off-peak time, which means Euro peak time. Expect to find yourself not able to log in during evenings due to down-time. If the server breaks during the day, don't expect it to get fixed until hours later after the North American techs get out of their beds. ie You will not get the quality gaming experience you have been expecting for the last months - and they announce this just days before launch. I have been looking forward to playing this game for a long while - not anymore. A Stupid decision - the Euro's are going nuts about this on the official boards - SOE will lose many customers to WOW because of this. Their loss. |
