TLDR: This game is okay. It's not the best themepark to face WoW over the last 10 years. I encourage everyone to try it because it's worth trying. Personally, it didn't grab me the way I thought it would.

I participated in Wildstar CB since last December and tried to fix and like the game. In the end, I was left with disappointment. The game simply didn't meet the expectations I had.

In my opinion Rift and FFXIV, did the whole WoW-copy better. I only played Rift for 2 months, but I couldn't imagine myself playing Wildstar longer than that and decided not to purchase. FFXIV which I played for 4 months was the better WoW-copy. Again, this is my opinion and you shouldn't be hurt by it.

It's not a copy.

People underrate how much combat systems totally change the game. They spend too much time analysing quest patterns and graphics.

This is the first "clone" of WoW in the sense they got it right, but this is not WoW 2.0. The telegraph combat system is completely different from WoW's tab target system. It makes the game play totally different.

That's what many said about rift as well as FFXIV..

The combat system makes the game, it is way different than Rift and FFXIV

Doesn't have half the charm of WoW, nor the scope.

Charm is subjective. In what way does it not have the scope? The world is huge and the game feels like feature complete and mature as if it were a year or two old.

For me it offers a similar but better experience. I like the combat better, the crafting, the character skill development, class structure, achievements, and quests. Pretty much everything about the game is more interesting to me than WoW, but it's not so radically different that it feels strange.

Charm is subjective. I always thought I would love WoW in space, sci fi has wallowed in the indy and half assed big budget for far too long. Finally a true sci-fi themepark.

What makes this game special to me is the combat. It is intriguing because it is new for me in an mmo. It really changes everything, this is coming from an "action mmo" hater. Wildstar does non-tab target right. I seriously think this will be the first theme-park mmo since wow to gain customers after the first month. Good thing for Blizzard they delayed Titan, they will need to take lessons from this game.

Also, housing is fun.

Sorry I am lazy. Here are my passes. Enjoy!

The last time I was subbed to SWTOR was when Sim City launched. Once I realized how ripped off I was for that purchase I unsubbed SWTOR and have not purchased a single game with the EA lable attached to it since.

SWTOR was/is better than most on this website will give it credit for, they actually made questing fun, but EA will not get another penny from me for a long, long time.

Fun game so far! Pvp is chaotic and sometimes I rock and sometimes I suck, but it has been fun.

The thing that gets me with mmos is that when they have betas you don't want to play too much because sometimes it will wipe and it will also make launch less appealing going through the stuff you did in beta over again.

Then if you don't play enough in beta you don't really know what the game is like so you buy it off a good first impression only to find out that the game really is not that fun when you get deeper into the game. If you had only played more during beta you would have seen what the game really was. So what do you do?

I have the same problem. I don't wan to spoil the fun of launch and I don't want to get burnt out playing a toon that will be wiped. So I play for a few levels, and if everything seems to work I decide to buy or not.

This has backed fired on me twice with Sim City and ESO. I'm hoping it will not be the same with Wildstar.

I haven't had this much fun playing an MMO in a long time. Finally something I could see myself playing for longer than three weeks.

This game has great balance imo, which is something that has been lacking in recent MMOs. Rift had a fun class system, but was too generic of fantasy story for my taste. SWTOR had a great story, but the PVP was a disappointment. GW2 had nice easy grouping, but the lack of set roles ruined it for me. I don't even want to talk about ESO, what a waste of $80. Everything I did in Wildstar was fun, quirky, and was mixed in with a bit of light humor. I enjoyed the setting and the gameplay.

Only 10 more days!

I am going to hold my official review until 1.1

They obviously pushed the game to release WAY too early. But I think 1.1 will bring the changes most people are looking for, or at least will be a move in the right direction. I am trying not to see the game as it is now (a fun 1-50 experience) and instead will wait to see what changes 1.1 brings which will hopefully allow people to see Craglorn without taking up ESO as a second career.

MMO developers need to stop this. Release a complete game or postpone launch. At least ESO realized this for the console launch, but it is too late for the PC launch. I might come back, but I doubt it, they should have given me a better first impression.

Proclaiming it  PVP game then forcing PVPers to grind out VR levels PVEing was retarded too.

WS PvP is a 2-button spam-fest, while running around in circles smashing the Tab button to locate the next target.

Nothing new or innovative here.

How does smashing Tab help locate next target?  I thought there was no Tab targeting or am I wrong?

Pressing Tab actually does highlight your target. You still have to manually aim your spell in order to hit it.

And this is why Wildstar combat is bad.  Same reason with ESO.  You do not ever create hybrids of the 2 core combat systems.  It ruins the visuals of the game.  You go PURE action or PURE Tab.  Not BOTH!

It is obvious you never tried PVP in Wildstar.

I enjoyed the PVP in Wildstar. I liked the frantic pace, but I'm sure as muscle memory starts to take hold the PVP will become more structured and less random.

I see Wildstar being a 6 month MMO for me, which would be longer than any MMO since WoW. The PVP being a large part of that. I always thought I would like massive open world type of PVP, but since experiencing that very same thing in WAR, GW2, and ESO I am beginning to think that I actually like smaller scale 10v10 type of PVP where individual actions and skill matter a whole lot more than just having numbers. Those numbers end up screwing it up when one side starts losing and people reroll to the winning sides.

Less than two weeks! I can't wait!

Money is involved lots of it.  Sure there are people who just don't like the game, but there are also paid posters to fan and amplify those flames.  This is the internet, 2014 with billions of dollars at stake.

Here you go.

"What is negative marketing?"

"Negative marketing involves making other companies who are your competition look bad. This is a ploy used in order to make your product look better than theirs in the eyes of the consumer. While some people may find this to be unfair or unethical it is a marketing strategy used all the time. Why? Because it gets attention and it really seems to work."

I have many complaints about ESO and posted about them. I wonder if there is a check in the mail.

Canceled and don't see myself ever returning to this game even if it goes F2P. Just not a interesting game. The solo grindy-ness of this game is terrible. They should have seriously considered a co-op game instead because they will not retain enough subs anyway, and a least a well made co-op would have been popular enough to live on with purchased expansions and maybe some DLC. This game will crash hard in a couple of months, if it hasn't already.

This game is done unless it goes f2p.

That is the only way I ever revisit it again.

Anyone reading this thread and still on the fence, go try the beta. This is a fun game.

It will not please everyone, but it will please the "need something different yet as fun as wow" crowd. Plus, sci-fi.

I am still surprised there are so many against it. After all of the crap we have had to deal with over the last few years, this game is a nice change of pace.

isnt it always the same? mmos just seem to have a very steep hype/motivation curve that drops down immensly about 1 month after release...

I think this will be the first theme-park to buck that trend since wow. This game will cater to the masses, as long as they find out about it. And in this modern internet age I have no doubt they will.

This will end up the most successful mmo since WoW, I'm sure of it. There is a market for a sci-fi wow 2.0. The pvp is fun too, directional combat changes more than people are willing to admit.

I've tried the open beta and I must say, I haven't been this excited about an MMO for a long time (ESO was more fake excitement, where I just really wanted to be excited, but wasn't really). I have found myself logging in and playing just for the fun of it, even though I don't want to play the beta anymore (want to save it all for release!). I haven't felt like that in a beta since the WoW beta.

I played every class to about lvl 4-6 and I must say, this game is really awesome.

I have not played an MMO with such smooth gameplay since WoW, no ability lag, everything happens just as you expect it.

At first I was a bit sceptical about the telegraph system, but it really grows on you fast and is actually really fresh and fun!

Some classes were a bit boring but when I tried Spellslinger, I was sold, it felt like a more agile version of the WoW mage (which I loved). It just played so well, teleports, dodge, sprint, double jump, everything was so smooth, you had complete control of your character at all times, and I loved it.

To me this is WoW 2 (and I have never heard or thought they were delivering anything else), and I'm really happy about that, cause I love WoW, and have played it for many many months over the years since its release, and I think Wildstar with it's unique combat system and excellent gameplay can really offer something unique while still being a new WoW.

This is a great game. I think it will sway the masses who are looking for a new game. THIS is WOW 2.0, which is a good thing. All of the other supposed "WoW clones" fell drastically sort in one or more areas. This is the perfect wow clone because it takes what WoW does good and changes it just a bit. Plus Sci-Fi, which should not be underestimated. Not everyone likes Medieval fantasy, we just put up with it because that is what is available. A TON of sci-fi fans will flock to this game. It does not take itself too seriously and who doesn't love "double kill".

Very impressed with this game, already purchased it for my sister to force her to pocket heal me.

This is WoW with a NGE, which is weird because I like it.

This is WoW with a fun directional combat system, in space. And it is fun. After buying and canceling ESO. I am happy that something came along to erase that memory. I am actually surprised how much I like Wildstar, I have been an mmo skeptic for far too long. I think this game will be a hit, maybe not on this website, but once people play it they will like it.

wow is unpopular on this website, yet somehow it is still the top mmo. I think this game will be a huge hit.

This is my sleeper hit as well. Great game so far. I actually had to make myself stop playing since I found my class. I don't want to spoil the story.

I might be in the minority on this website, but I can follow Sci-fi stories way easier than medieval fantasy. This game is the best game I have played in a long time. This game is a breath of fresh air. The combat is fun, the pvp is fun, the stories and setting are fun. Finally a fun mmo. No game has this complete of package at launch since WoW. If the masses find this game it will be a hit.

There will never be another WoW, but this is the first game to truly be labeled as a WoW clone. I'm excited for launch.

The beta so far has been what has made me want to keep playing. They have updated it, listened to the players, and overhauled a lot of things. My main concern currently and this has kept me from playing is, I would rather not get burnt out playing a beta. When I don't get to keep the character I'm playing into launch what is the point other than to try it out. So I played for a good few hours, and cut it off so it didn't get stale when I had to do the content again. That happened in Aion to me, I remember leveling a new character up over and over in the beta then just couldn't push myself to play the game upon launch. Nothing to do with the game itself being boring or old, just doing the same leveling over and over is never fun.

I'm the same way. I hate to ruin launch by playing too much beta. I already know this game will be fun so ill use beta to find my main class and stop before I get too far.
