I think people are missing the point, we do play Sims, and we also play MMOs, and even PVP in those MMO's sometimes.

What I miss is the kind of system SWG had, where there was a real place for both within the game together.

I don't think it would work. Eventually all of the space would be filled with giant penises.

People do that every day in 2nd Life. If that's what you actually do want to do, there it is.

Not a lot of people want to be hairdressers in games. There is a reason why violent combat based games are the most popular, and mainstay of the industry.

Yeah...hairdressing and interior decorating in a virtual fantasy world is not my idea of fun either.

I read threads like this as" Why can't MMOs be more like those other games we hate and ignore?" 

Why does it have to be one way or the other? Black or white?

Even within the Military there are barbers.

Another thing, this is the reason I still buy at least one single player game a month. When I was active in SWG, that was all I played. I could get my pvp and micro-management fixes in the same game.

Now I have to have an MMO or a FPS for PVP, then log out to Tropico or something similar for the management side of video games. It would be awesome if they managed to bring that all together in a persistent online world again.

I actually enjoy pvp, and will always pick a pvp server to play on, but I miss options, and I miss my little resource business I managed in SWG.

Not everyone wants to be pwning people or npcs nonstop.

If they do a full wipe, everyone who didn't exploit the game will want a refund. And probably a lot a players who did cheat as well.

They really can't target the players in this, they need to target the exploit and attempt to remove the exploited currency from the game, if that is even possible.

Personally, I'd love to see Battlefront 3 finally get made as a Frostbite-powered game. As for future Star Wars MMOs, I'm not going to touch that one (today ;)).

Well if ruins all hope of a good MMORPG. EA has utterly destroyed every single MMO they've ever touched. (Sims, WAR, SWTOR, Earth and Beyond) and their track record with other franchises is not great.

Don't forget SimCity 2013, EA considers that an MMO.

I understand the OP's point of view, it just seems like a losing battle though. Pre-teen and teens have pretty much unlimited access to nudity or porn whenever they want now.

I would love the idea of an adult only game, but to be honest, nothing about Scarlet Blade is even the least bit interesting.

I have had more fun playing Defiance than I have playing GW2, SimCity, and D3 (I know I'm a sucker for punishment)

They all cost about the same at release so for me it is worth it. It is not a long-term game, but there is no sub so who cares.

Given my experience over the years, MikeB has always seemed to be fair and even handed.  I've always respected that of him.  But lets not forget, that fan bias can impact anyones judgement.   Look at my support of Firefall, as an example of hope over reason... ^^

I've never been any great fan of TES series, so if its not like that series, I'd not count it a negative.

Everyone should do their own research on games, and make their own decisions.

I doubt that MikeB (or you) would allow money to bias your columns, but that possibility does exist out and about, so I'd not take it personally when someone mentions it.

You can't trust a website like MMORPG.com, when they fire people for giving big budget games a 4/10. (SWTOR)

This is why I only read user reviews if I am interested in the truth. "Professional" reviews are no longer unbiased reviews that the consumer can rely on.

I like to imagine myself in the games that I play. So I always play male characters. I also play whatever race is the shortest - I'm only 5' 4" in real life - and if possible make the toon look like me.

I could care less what toons others choose to play. I imagine some people are like me and want to create toons that look similar, while others what to RP someone they are not like at all. Neither way is the right or wrong way, play how you like.

Personally I dislike this busness practice so will not buy from companies that use it. For those that feel the same way yet still buy these games and DLC products, you have zero right to complain as you are only re-enforcing the reason companies find this practice appealing.

 This pretty much nails it.

If you dislike DLC - don't buy them, or even better yet don't buy games with them. Nothing shows a business your displeasure more than spending your money elsewhere.

I played WAR for about a year, it was fun in my opinion.

That was longer than I have played a MMO since. It had great Battlegrounds and I liked the fact you could physically keep people out of keeps with a big line of tanks - no just walking past everyone.
