Population has dropped no doubt, but the thing I am more inclined to belive is more and more people realized how big a pile of steaming poo Xfire is and either got rid of it, or move to Raptr like I did. |

How? Racers perform the act of racing, against time, or another person(s). Games are played by gamers, I don't care if its solitaire, to discount someone because it is not your definition of a game is just wrong. They are playing a game, therefor they are a gamer. There is no such thing as a loose definition here, they are playing a game, just like you does not matter what kind of game, therefor they are gaming, therefor they are gamers. Driving fast is driving fast, racing against time or another person, is racing, there for they would be a racer. You are just seemingly not grasping a concept of someone playing something you hate, or look down upon as a game, and as gamers. This is a really simple concept, I promise you. |
|
So by your words to be a gamer it has to be 3d? Or they have to own expensive hardware? They are gamers, casual gamers, not PC gamers per se because those games can be played on tons of different platforms, but they are gamers.
Ok to address this, They are casual gamers, like mentioned above. Driving a car fast does not equal racing a car, against time, or another person. However, the act of playing a game is called gaming, and gamers game, casual or hardcore, in between or otherwise, no difference. It is gaming, and they are gamers. |

Originally posted by Metza Honestly, I hate Farmville too, but to discount it and to say it is not a video game just beacause it does not appeal to you or your "hardcore" nature is closeminded and is what is hurting the industry. Anyoone who palys a game or GAMES, is called a Gamer. Casual, hardcore, stupid, or smart, regardless of who, they are gamers, and we as gamers should respect other types of gamers regardless of who or what. |

On your merit of "we should just take your word for it", I will use that same line on you, seeing as you obviously hate the game, have not played it in quite some time, and want to start a flame war instead of properly contributing to a conversation, yes your word is much more believable then mine. You want numbers? I can give you numbers based on actual population scans, of a census addon, from within the game. These scans do not include hidden players that don't make themselves visible but it does give a rough understanding of the ingame population. I am getting really tired of hostility coming from people like yourself. It really makes it hard to hold a conversation that is worth anything. If you want numbers its easy goto: http://war.curseforge.com/addons/warcensus/ get that addon get the free trial, and do a few scans at random times throughout the day, night, weekends, for the next year or so like I have. Population in late '09 was peaking at 700 on the busiest servers, as of '10 it was 300-500 per faction, per server at peak. That is the same as recently. Now in offpeak hours it ranges from 125-175, and has been so for more than a year now. I was just online and did a scan of 148 players. Now be mindful this is the morning hours, and as most players are at school/work this is expected population. Might not seem like much to the average person, but be certain it is plenty for RvR. I have been in several battles in the past week alone that had 20-30+ players on both sides. This is oRvR, SCs pop regularly during peak hours and things gameplay wise have never been better. This includes all tiers, I have characters in all , and have had no issues finding RvR on all. The proof is there, if you seek it out. |

Originally posted by Mmocount Population at launch and a year after was a bit higher then the past year to a year and a half, correct but since about 1 1/2 years ago the population has not shurnk, it has been stable and is sustainable. People always complain, its a fact of life, but I stick by my scans, as they are taken from ingame with REAL data. |

First off, this is based on actual population scans from within the game. Population numbers on all server(I check them all) have remained the same at peak, and in off hours it has been roughly the same as normal for off hours. This game is just a bit over 2 years old, of course it had more 2 years ago. That does not mean the current population is not sustainable or stable, because guess what? It is, and it is. {mod edit}
This game is not dead, and is not dying, yes it has seen better day number wise, but quality wise, the game has never been better, and just keeps improving, those that have not played since launch give it a go, those who have been gone extended periods give it a go, if its been 60 or 90 days forget which you can goto the account center and reactivate for a 10 or 14 day trial on your old account. New players please for the love of god take it from someone who plays the game, this game is good, don't be scared to try it, ignore all the haters and get in and have fun. If numbers prove anything is that they don't prove a game is good or not, look at WoW for instance, I have played off and on for years, but its boring, and totally imbalanced. Play it if you like it, or shut the hell up and move on so those that are interested in the game can speak about it in peace. |

Originally posted by Mmocount Population has been stable for at least the past 1-2 years. I have done population scans and numbers have remained about the same. RvR/PvP, honestly, is dynamic content, and thus no real need for anything new beyond what the players make different each and every fight. They are heliping with ToR, but not abandoning or ceasing anything with WAR.
This game still has the best RvR/PvP experience in any MMO. If that is what you are looking for this is it. People need to get over themselves, and try the game for the first time, or come back with an open mind. If you look at it with a fresh set of eyes, then you will see that this game has the best RvR/PvP and has improved ten fold since release. |

World of Warcraft: Blizzard & PayPal Cracking Down
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/31/11 6:18:13 PM
This is being sent to the websites selling the gold, not the users that use the sites.
In otherwords, if those sites do not remove all WoW references, and gold/powerleveling services from their site, then paypal will stop those sites' paypal accounts until they comply, effectively slowing, or stopping most sites as most use paypal. |

This happened to me, just contact them usually when they well this is what they say anyhow, detect someone attempting to hack into your account they will lock it(aka ban) to prevent any abuse. All you have to do is contact support answer their questions and they will unlock it for you. |

Star Trek Online: One Year Anniversary Sale

Originally posted by Ramblebrain It takes just about 2 years of playing to make up for that cost. That is not a bad deal at all. There is no scamming going on people. You pay, you get what you paid for in return. It's very simple, if you do not like it move on to a game that you do like and leave others alone to enjoy what they like, you wouldn't want them to come into your house or place of business and just because your price is higher, or made of different material then what they like to start bashing you and possibly your products would you for no reason? Nope? Didn't think so. |

Is Warhammer Online still being supported?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 1/23/11 3:55:48 PM
3 devs? Stop spreading rumors and misinformation please.
This game has gotten better and better. Aside from a bit of an AFK issue(not had any problems myself) the game is much better for the 1.4 update. I have been here off and on since beta, I have 2 CE accounts and 1 regular account.
This game has plenty of support and updates planned. You forget that this game is not just in the US/NA and the UK/EU, but worldwide. Patches were tested both internally and via the test server, the only person to blame for a change you do not like is yourself for not going on the test server and giving proper, thoughtful feedback.
This game is more then alive and is not going anywhere all this doom and gloom needs to end. I have heard it and was subjected to saying it a couple of times and all have been proven incorrect. This game has more then enough subs worldwide to stay open for a very long time. After all is DAoC still running? Yep, it is, is Ultima Online still going? Yepper, sure the hell is. Most if not nearly all major, and minor bugs at release have been fixed, the changes they have made have been a direct result of player feedback and internal think tanks.Just because some changes were not made that yourself or some other might have made mention of does not in no way mean they are not listening, it simply means those changes requested are unnecessary, planned in future updates, or are being thought out. Furthermore some changes requested should just never, ever be done regardless how many people want it. In closing think about what you are saying, research the game, the company, the industry and everything around it. MMOs are the largest, hardest games to develop, manage and operate. Not to mention balance. Every change, event he smallest, takes time and thought to make sure its correct, and done right for it to be good with the rest of the game. As for Rift? Not a chance in hell will real WAR fans leave for it. That game is centered around PvE, with a side of crappy PvP. Warhammer Online was, and is built for PvP/RvR, and no one in their right minds will leave and stick with Rift if they love the PvP/RvR of WAR. The same things being said about Rift, was said about Aion remember? Doubt it hype, no go. |

For that ridiculous resolution I would think so. For normal non over the top, single cards will be more then fine. |
|
Originally posted by Hyp47 AA is not really a needed function in most newer MMOs, 2x or even 4x is more then enough and most any modern single card can do that fine. AF however is more needed and still stand, most modern single cards can do that fine. Shadows, distance a few DX10/11 along with AA are what kills the FPS the most in any game usually. |

Originally posted by Xion1985 I ran and still run one of those in my other older computer, before rebuilding and moving to my dual 3870s in Crossfire. Good card, the 5830 I am using now was at least on par if not better then my dual 3870s so yes, as long as your computer can support the speeds of the newer cards without the RAM, or CPU bottlenecking with the new card, then go for it. |

Originally posted by Xion1985 Being an primarily ATi user for the last 10 years or so, I would recommend the 5850, or the 6870 unless you cannot afford it then go with the 6850. I am currently using a 5830 switched from using my dual 3870s and could not be a happier camper, games run well, nothing seems to really bog it too much. :) |
