Population has dropped no doubt, but the thing I am more inclined to belive is more and more people realized how big a pile of steaming poo Xfire is and either got rid of it, or move to Raptr like I did.

Again that's about as loose a definition as saying someone who drives fast is a racer...

How? Racers perform the act of racing, against time, or another person(s). Games are played by gamers, I don't care if its solitaire, to discount someone because it is not your definition of a game is just wrong. They are playing a game, therefor they are a gamer.

There is no such thing as a loose definition here, they are playing a game, just like you does not matter what kind of game, therefor they are gaming, therefor they are gamers.

Driving fast is driving fast, racing against time or another person, is racing, there for they would be a racer. You are just seemingly not grasping a concept of someone playing something you hate, or look down upon as a game, and as gamers.

This is a really simple concept, I promise you.

Its a very small percentage if any at all that have gone out and purchased a 3D gaming rig to play farmville or other like games, alot of those people who do not usually play other games would not have the PC needed to even be in the discussion unless they are planning to play games that have more of a production value. Closeminded? no man, thats just the real world, I didnt say people cant enjoy those games at all, have at it! but to consider them part of the PC gaming market is absurd.

So by your words to be a gamer it has to be 3d? Or they have to own expensive hardware? They are gamers, casual gamers, not PC gamers per se because those games can be played on tons of different platforms, but they are gamers.

I'm talking real video games here not farmville or something of the sort from facebook.

Honestly, I hate Farmville too, but to discount it and to say it is not a video game just beacause it does not appeal to you or your "hardcore" nature is closeminded and is what is hurting the industry. Anyoone who palys a game or GAMES, is called a Gamer. Casual, hardcore, stupid, or smart, regardless of who, they are gamers, and we as gamers should respect other types of gamers regardless of who or what.

...I don't want to sound prejudiced, but claiming playing Facebook games such as Farmville makes you a gamer is, no offense, an extremely loose defining of the term gamer...just my opinion, but that's like saying "I'm a gamer, because I play Fruit Ninja on my iPhone"... It's like driving a smart car really fast and claiming you're a racer.

Ok to address this, They are casual gamers, like mentioned above.

Driving a car fast does not equal racing a car, against time, or another person.

However, the act of playing a game is called gaming, and gamers game, casual or hardcore, in between or otherwise, no difference. It is gaming, and they are gamers.

The population you see will only be in the towns. it's not like you need anyone to quest so really why ask this question. MMOs are heading towardds  the single player mentality. All anyone wants anymore is to see someone run by, know it's a person but god forbid they want to group together to take your xp/loot.

The only game that comment of yours is relavent to is WoW, WAR does not wrk that way, at all.

Well, it applies to more games than WoW, but for WAR, population matters if you are RvRing at end game, if you're doing endless trial and just doing the battlegrounds it's kind of a moot point.

For end game RvR the numbers are more than fine.

That does not mean the current population is not sustainable or stable, because guess what? It is, and it is.I speak truth and fact, not lies and false hatred like you, someone who does not even play the game.

My statement was on your statement that pop was stable over the last 1-2 years.
So let's take at face value that you have 'checked' pop numbers, across all servers, across all realms, over the last few years.
Then the truth should be staring you in the face. No, it is not possible for a game to have the same peak and off peak numbers across all servers, yet have shrunk by about ~60 servers to 2(assuming US) in the meantime(assuming 2 years).
-----------------------
Assuming the above, yet still looking at your statement I'm guessing you're simply not explaining yourself well enough or I'm not understanding you. It's not possible for pops to be stable yet the game to shrink, so something is off.

As for current pops possibly being sustainable/stable. I never said otherwise. What I *did* say was that since release the pop has only shrunk and shrunk. Which it has, which was obvious when server, after server, after server started complaining of pops and eventually got merged. The Frenchies being the latest of that bunch which is happening right now basically.

Population at launch and a year after was a bit higher then the past year to a year and a half, correct but since about 1 1/2 years ago the population has not shurnk, it has been stable and is sustainable.
People always complain, its a fact of life, but I stick by my scans, as they are taken from ingame with REAL data.

Actual population scans? ROFL!!!! we should just take your word for it? where is this data that you accumlated over an year? post us a link or something otherwise i am calling bull*** on this one.

On your merit of "we should just take your word for it", I will use that same line on you, seeing as you obviously hate the game, have not played it in quite some time, and want to start a flame war instead of properly contributing to a conversation, yes your word is much more believable then mine.
You want numbers? I can give you numbers based on actual population scans, of a census addon, from within the game. These scans do not include hidden players that don't make themselves visible but it does give a rough understanding of the ingame population.

I am getting really tired of hostility coming from people like yourself. It really makes it hard to hold a conversation that is worth anything.

If you want numbers its easy goto: http://war.curseforge.com/addons/warcensus/ get that addon get the free trial, and do a few scans at random times throughout the day, night, weekends, for the next year or so like I have.

Population in late '09 was peaking at 700 on the busiest servers, as of '10 it was 300-500 per faction, per server at peak. That is the same as recently.

Now in offpeak hours it ranges from 125-175, and has been so for more than a year now.

I was just online and did a scan of 148 players. Now be mindful this is the morning hours, and as most players are at school/work this is expected population.

Might not seem like much to the average person, but be certain it is plenty for RvR. I have been in several battles in the past week alone that had 20-30+ players on both sides. This is oRvR, SCs pop regularly during peak hours and things gameplay wise have never been better. This includes all tiers, I have characters in all , and have had no issues finding RvR on all.

The proof is there, if you seek it out.

Stop spouting crap like that. 1-2 years ago this game had 300k people. what is that now, 50k per server? Pop has been going down continuously. Each time followed with server upon server running dry, complaining about pops for a while and getting merged eventually.
Speak for the game all you want but obvious lies like this don't help the game, they just make you look like a fanboy ignoring the obvious.

As long as you stay on the endless free trial and only play levels 1-11 you should be fine. After that there is really not much point. I don't advise paying any money for this game.

And to the few of you in here saying this game isn't dead, even you have to admit the game is a badly ailling shell of its former self, and that the old skiiny guy in the black robes is looking on while sharpening his scythe.

This game is not dead, and is not dying, yes it has seen better day number wise, but quality wise, the game has never been better, and just keeps improving, those that have not played since launch give it a go, those who have been gone extended periods give it a go, if its been 60 or 90 days forget which you can goto the account center and reactivate for a 10 or 14 day trial on your old account. New players please for the love of god take it from someone who plays the game, this game is good, don't be scared to try it, ignore all the haters and get in and have fun. If numbers prove anything is that they don't prove a game is good or not, look at WoW for instance, I have played off and on for years, but its boring, and totally imbalanced.

Play it if you like it, or shut the hell up and move on so those that are interested in the game can speak about it in peace.

Okay and also another question how come everyone makes this game out like it is dead that its got no population or anything?

Because that's the impression people get when a game goes down from 65 servers to 2 (US side).
The last merger was still recently where 2 of the last 4 servers were mrged into Gorfang.

It's not so much the game is dead. It's just that it has been in a downward spiral since release and there has been no sign of stabilizing population at all.

Add to that there has been very little new content in two years, no real expansion nor any sight of one, and an open admission staff's working on TOR, and there's simply not much goodwill left for a lot of people.

That said, there's pop on the current servers, and it can be fun, for a while. I just wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a MMO to settle into for the foreseeable future. Rather just something to do casually, or on the side or something like that.

Population has been stable for at least the past 1-2 years. I have done population scans and numbers have remained about the same. RvR/PvP, honestly, is dynamic content, and thus no real need for anything new beyond what the players make different each and every fight. They are heliping with ToR, but not abandoning or ceasing anything with WAR.

This game still has the best RvR/PvP experience in any MMO. If that is what you are looking for this is it. People need to get over themselves, and try the game for the first time, or come back with an open mind. If you look at it with a fresh set of eyes, then you will see that this game has the best RvR/PvP and has improved ten fold since release.

This is being sent to the websites selling the gold, not the users that use the sites.

In otherwords, if those sites do not remove all WoW references, and gold/powerleveling services from their site, then paypal will stop those sites' paypal accounts until they comply, effectively slowing, or stopping most sites as most use paypal.

This happened to me, just contact them usually when they well this is what they say anyhow, detect someone attempting to hack into your account they will lock it(aka ban) to prevent any abuse. All you have to do is contact support answer their questions and they will unlock it for you.

Is this serious?! Lifetime.. anyone expect to play the same game when they're 70? jezes..

It takes just about 2 years of playing to make up for that cost. That is not a bad deal at all.

There is no scamming going on people. You pay, you get what you paid for in return. It's very simple, if you do not like it move on to a game that you do like and leave others alone to enjoy what they like, you wouldn't want them to come into your house or place of business and just because your price is higher, or made of different material then what they like to start bashing you and possibly your products would you for no reason?

Nope? Didn't think so.

3 devs? Stop spreading rumors and misinformation please.

This game has gotten better and better. Aside from a bit of an AFK issue(not had any problems myself) the game is much better for the 1.4 update. I have been here off and on since beta, I have 2 CE accounts and 1 regular account.

This game has plenty of support and updates planned. You forget that this game is not just in the US/NA and the UK/EU, but worldwide. Patches were tested both internally and via the test server, the only person to blame for a change you do not like is yourself for not going on the test server and giving proper, thoughtful feedback.

This game is more then alive and is not going anywhere all this doom and gloom needs to end. I have heard it and was subjected to saying it a couple of times and all have been proven incorrect. This game has more then enough subs worldwide to stay open for a very long time. After all is DAoC still running? Yep, it is, is Ultima Online still going? Yepper, sure the hell is.

Most if not nearly all major, and minor bugs at release have been fixed, the changes they have made have been a direct result of player feedback and internal think tanks.Just because some changes were not made that yourself or some other might have made mention of does not in no way mean they are not listening, it simply means those changes requested are unnecessary, planned in future updates, or are being thought out. Furthermore some changes requested should just never, ever be done regardless how many people want it.

In closing think about what you are saying, research the game, the company, the industry and everything around it.

MMOs are the largest, hardest games to develop, manage and operate. Not to mention balance. Every change, event he smallest, takes time and thought to make sure its correct, and done right for it to be good with the rest of the game.

As for Rift? Not a chance in hell will real WAR fans leave for it. That game is centered around PvE, with a side of crappy PvP. Warhammer Online was, and is built for PvP/RvR, and no one in their right minds will leave and stick with Rift if they love the PvP/RvR of WAR. The same things being said about Rift, was said about Aion remember? Doubt it hype, no go.

What are you talking about...Rift doesn't require 2 high-end GPUs to max out.  On the GTX275 I have I easily get around 35-42fps{yes even during massive invasions} on max, and its a rather old GPU.  And I read from others during FPS discussion in-game that 8800 and 9600 can still push in upwards of 20-25fps. which is still decent and not laggy.

When you play at 2560 x 1600 resolution with settings cranked, two high end GPUs definitely help with Rift, believe me.

For that ridiculous resolution I would think so. For normal non over the top, single cards will be more then fine.

Rift for exemple, now with AA added specially SSAA, if any1 wants to play with decent fps will pretty much need 2 high-end cards.

AA is not really a needed function in most newer MMOs, 2x or even 4x is more then enough and most any modern single card can do that fine. AF however is more needed and still stand, most modern single cards can do that fine. Shadows, distance a few DX10/11 along with AA are what kills the FPS the most in any game usually.

Asus Sabertooth X58 Aud/GbLan/SATA6Gbps/RAID/1394/USB 3.0 ATX

HAF 932 Black Full tower NoPS

12GB(3x4GB) DDR3 PC10600 1333MHz Matched Kit Crucial

WD 1TB 64M 7200 SATA II Caviar Green

Also windows 7.

Should be plenty powerful to handle any of the mentioned cards, heh. :)

Yeah , not a bad deal at all , except when you consider that CO goes F2P the sameday the deal is released. So really what are you paying for ? People are hilarious , if you think anything is free, especially where Cryptic is concerned . They will find a way to extract money even from the LTS. How long before STO is F2P , 6 mo ? 1 year ? It's not a question of if , just when.

With lifetime, once again you fail to read gives you lifetime VIP in the F2P version and if you look at the feature matrix, it is more then worth it for someone that enjoys the game. Please stop trolling this topic, we get it, and again we get it, you hate the game, and the company. Please move along to a game you like.

I ran and still run one of those in my other older computer, before rebuilding and moving to my dual 3870s in Crossfire. Good card, the 5830 I am using now was at least on par if not better then my dual 3870s so yes, as long as your computer can support the speeds of the newer cards without the RAM, or CPU bottlenecking with the new card, then go for it.

Being an primarily ATi user for the last 10 years or so, I would recommend the 5850, or the 6870 unless you cannot afford it then go with the 6850. I am currently using a 5830 switched from using my dual 3870s and could not be a happier camper, games run well, nothing seems to really bog it too much. :)
