Because it's a completely mixed analogy. GW2 is Buy-to-play; their cash shop takes the place of subscriptions. Similarly, free-to-play games use cash shops in place of subscriptions, but they sell a heck of a lot more. Tera is a subscription-based game; their subscription is supposed to take the place of cash shops. In the original Disneyland analogy, Disneyland would be B2P - the initial purchase gets you in and gives you access to the rides, but extras come out of your own pocket. F2P games would be like state fairs, where looking around is free, but everything else comes out of your own pocket. There isn't an amusement park model currently in existence that's analogous to subscription-based games. That's why it's a bad example.

^ Is correct. It would be like going to Disney World, paying to get in, paying for each hour you are in, and also paying for food and souvenirs.

Along with this there should be battlegrounds and objective based arenas.

You had me up until this. If we've learned anything from WoW, it's that BGs ruin world PvP.

Well the idea of SWTOR was very nice, an actual story like in their single player games but it turned out to be about killing 10 rats. ( very simply put, I hope you get what i'm saying)

Maybe in TESO we won't have to kill 10 guards, return to the town and then travel back to kill their boss, maybe we can go kill him in the first place. That would be pretty much TES.

Also; TES isn't a sandbox game, its a themepark with alot of freedom, but everything you do ingame and everything is created by the game, you don't build your house, nope you buy one or you get one thats allready there.

A bit of good information they shared is "No Quest Hubs." It actually sounds a lot like GW2 in this aspect. Example: You find a random cave filled with zombies. You reach a boss zombie at the end and when you kill him you are rewarded.

I don't call TES a themepark or a sandbox. It's a hybrid. Not really one or the other.

You have a point, but i was talking more about the permanent pets like hunters in wow have, I don't think a conjurable skeleton for example falls under that, but we don't know.

Also: they said they weren't talking about it. Not that they wouldn't be included.

All I'm saying is we have enough information to give us an idea of what the game will be like. A lot of us aren't happy with the fact that they are calling the game "The Elder Scrolls" when it is far from that.

Nope, you don't have any details, only big general terms which can be filled in in various ways.

No pets- Pretty Straight forward. No Pets.
No housing- Pretty Straight forward. No houses.
Classes- Pretty Straight forward. Not skill based like the rest of TES.

Where am I suppose to fill in?

I'm replaying morrowind right now, i'm a warrior.

A warrior does sound a bit like a class now doesn't it?

=> you don't know how it will work

Since when have pets been such a big thing in ES?

No housing: Again, not such a big thing in ES, atleast to me and you never had the ability to build your own house, so what do these fans expect? About 6000 buyable houses per server? ( alts have to be included ofcourse) Or what? Introduce a ENTIRELY NEW SYSTEM to build houses? hmmm

Custom classes were always a possibility. They are not definative classes such as "Only warriors have this ability" or "You must be a mage to use Conjuration." They were guidelines more than anything.

You're playing Morrowind, yes? Go get some conjuration spells. How many of them invole summoning pets? A lot of them. Now go play Oblivion and repeat. Now go play Skyrim, repeat.

Again, you're playing Morrowind certain quests will reward you with a house. Oblivion is the same deal, but you can also purchase houses. Skyrim is the same as Oblivion.

These things are part of TES and have been for years. Your ignorance doesn't change that.

You don't know that for sure. When was the last time a Warcraft RTS was made? Think we'll see a single player KOTOR anytime soon?

Totally different situation, Star Wars isn't Bioware's IP, and it's nowhere close to their most important franchise. On the flipside TES is Bethesda's.

How about DA3 being pushed back for SWTOR (don't know whether it's true)? TES single player will most likely suffer because of this game.

If it was exactly like skyrim but a mmo, who would buy tes6

It doesn't matter who is working on the game. From the info we have, there is nothing that relates TESO and UO other than it being a fantasy game. If it was a Skyrim MMO, most of the people on these forums would be happy.

Either way it would get the same amount of interest from me at this point.  "I'm listening, and waiting", that's it. I'd look at feedback the same way if it were "happy" people, because frankly we still don't know jackspit.

The little we do know is enough to turn me off. I'm still going to give this game a chance, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Or we could act like responsible consumers and voice our opinions and get what we expect.

I mean, its not like a game company can release a game in a popular series and piss off so many as to start vast protests and even a LAWSUIT over its ending and actually get the company to react and do something about it...or can they.

Yeah...better to start the MOMENT you know about something you dont like and change it before its done..why just settle for MEH

I don't think any amount of protesting will change the core of the game. It has been in development for too long. As someone stated in another thread, they may add some minor trinkets here or there just to get people excited.

1. Does not help the game at all or counter what I said.

2. See #1

3. See #1

4. Being stripped from one subsidiary to work at another only further proves my point.

This game will be TES in name only...better to use something that has name recogintion than use DAoC 2 seeing as how its been dead for so long.

I agree, but they can't use the DAOC name anyway.

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/337278/20120504/elder-scrolls-online-game-details-mmorpg-announcement.htm

No action combat, no housing, class based system, and no pets. People keep saying we don't have any info, this is quite a bit of info. Definately enough to be critical of the game.

That last one is important because in those same maps there are PvE areas, monsters, even dynamic micro-quest events.  So, a player can be just in a swamp killing gators when a band of random gankers come down the road nearby, sees him, and attacks him accordingly.    That is very much possible with these maps.

Not the same at all.  When you head to the WvWvW zones, you are prepared to PvP.  There is no danger because you are expecting PvP and have made the conscious choice to do it, just as you would if you were queing up for a battleground.  It's not the same as true open world PvP no matter how you try to spin it.  Sorry.

You mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OHZddJXlgo Pretty sad.

Yeah I stopped watching when 7 people killed a lowbie that was in the middle of a fight with an AI mob.  OWPVP is retarded.  People who call that a "sense of danger" make it sound enticing as though it were a sudden challenge.  It's not a challenge, it's an inconvenience, and when you arrive back at your body, they'll just kill you again.  Have fun spending money to be killed until max level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt9awdSgnvc

This is exciting regardless of how old it is.

From what I can see, at least people are evenly matched and it looks challenging, not ridiculous.  Tera's PvP is a joke when it's used like that, it's no better than Aion's and all the ganking was what killed the community.  Listen to these idiots laugh. At least in Tera's defense there are PvE servers, Aion didn't benefit from that.

That's why I don't like generalizations of OWPvP being bad. It's not all ganking lowbies. Sure, some people enjoy doing that but it's not like you're being ganked as a lowbie everytime you play the game. True PvPers like a fair fight. This is the kind of stuff that gets your heart pumping because you're actually risking something by being involved.

The reason they don't have a PvP server in GW2 is the same reason why (the last i heard) 80% of players were leaving the PvP servers in TERA.

Balance plays a huge part in this. Have you seen the video where they showed that 3 levels basically doubles your damage? The way GW2 scales would be great for open PvP.

no, you know why? armour stats will do the all work, even if you down your lvl.  than you have traits that make a huge huge diference and because GW2 is about help each other against mobs.

people are not just tired of wow combat mechanic are tired how most of pvp work on MMORPG. most of them you dont even need any skilll, just need farm best armours / weapon.

They could tweak it to where it would work, you can't deny that. Limit the amount of traits to the level you're scaled down to, hell you could limit the bonus gear provides. The only thing stopping them is they don't want to do PvP that way. I'm fine with that as long as WvW stays fresh.

you can have random encounters in the mists, the maps are huge. but i think what the OP really wants is to gank people when they are pve'ing.

I actually enjoy people attempting to gank me while I'm killing mobs. That way I can kill them both and lol to myself. If Anet can keep WvW fresh by expanding the Mists or creating new maps, I'll be fine. WvW will get old if it's the exact same in a couple years.

I will give the game a chance. I try to give every game a chance if I am interested in it. Have to say though... I would have LOVED Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind Online...

Someone make me EvE Online but with a fantasy setting, thats all I ask. My birthday is in February, so you have a bit of time, now chop chop!

Same here. I'm just going to be extremely critcal while I wait. At least CCP is making WOD, though it probably won't be out for about 3 years.

I don't know why people consider anything with themepark elements a WoW clone. If anything TESO is taking more from DAOC/GW2. I just wish they would have made it more Elder Scrollsy (that word is in the dictionary).
