I have 3 comps in my house, one is 9 years old, with the exception of 25 main raids and the PvP zone when its got alot of characters in it, WoW runs flawlessly....is this a testimony that Dell builds great machines that stand up thru out the years or that WoWs graphics are very simplistic? |

thinking of trying this game have somethings to ask.
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 7/19/10 4:26:57 AM
Try the game for yourself, its no where nearly as bad as these people are saying, and can actually be quite fun, these forums are not the place to ask about any game, unless your just looking to start the bashing wagon up again, well except WoW. As far as the game goes, space combat is a blast, and the ship to ship PvP is very entertaining, but there is a huge lack of variety in missions and PvP scenerios, and virtually no exploration and the game starts feeling repetative, graphics wise the game is really good, plus the ground combat to me was decent but needed work and once again the lack of any veriaty and exploration just had me wondering what the devs of this game where thinking, but this game is fun and better played as a secondary game or is great if you have a life and dont plan on playing more then an hour or two a day. |

joined in 03, to support the site and at the time VN boards where nothing but whinning and complaining, these where a breath of fresh air, but now its worse then about any other forums, it amazes me how bashing games seems to be the kool thing to do for alot of people and its even more amazing to see how many people can not think for themselves and just repeat the same game bashing crap as everyone else. |

I will say it, permadeath will not work in an MMoRPG that is combat based...no one would do anything that is even remotley challenging, as it is people have to be over geared and higher level then is neccasery to do the boss mobs and dungeons in most games , plus you have to rely on others you dont know to keep from dieing, not to mention the tech side of things allready brought up. You also said something about, not constraining human behavior, that is an experiment that never works for the better, humans unconstrained will always move towards destruction. This perma death stuff pops up every week or two, but no one wants it, even you guys that bring it up would quit the game that had it after dieing at level 2 or 3 a few times in a row, youll get tired of starting over and we would just have another wasted game. |

Why would anyone buy another game from FUNCOM?
General Discussion « The Secret World 6/29/10 2:16:14 PM
Funcom has made 2 of the best MMoRPGs to date, yes the releases where not that great but they have shown they can still get them right, as far as AoC still being broken, I disagree,I find very few bugs plus the expansion is really good, and thats my opinion, which is just as valid as yours. |

FEs cash shop only has 2 items, not to mention the goggles are only level 3 and really not that great, the general community of asswipes that dominate WoW is far worse then a pair of worthless goggles in a cash shop. |

Best RPG Baulders Gate 2, although playing Dragon Age right now and I really like it, best MMoRPG currently would have to be either AoC or Fallen Earth.... but best of all time would be DAoC pre frontier change and Everquest thru its first 2 expansions. |

General: Five Reasons to Be Concerned about LotRO F2P
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/26/10 1:32:43 PM
Why not a pure RP server at say 15 or 16.99 that dosnt allow F2P players on it? I would definatly sign up |

The Klingons where very under developed at launch I will give you that one, but, I am not sure you actually know what your typing about or that you just parrot the hate posts of others. Anyway if you dislike STO so much why are you spending so much time in forums about it? OCD maybe? |

I have been playing since beta and I find STO to be fun, yes it could have/should have been more. I will admit to not caring for some of Cryptics design decisions(to much instancing, no real exploration, the warp map, WoW BG style PvP, etc but all in all I enjoy the game quite abit. STO is not the game for you if you play 10 hours a day, but, if you have a life and only a few hours here and there to play, or need a second MMoRPG to log into every so often then this is a great game. Lets face it, what MMoRPG has depth? and dont go screaming about original SWG cuase I was there and the same complaint was screamed at that game... No game is going to please everyone but no game is also as bad as the regulars on these forums claim either, oh ya, I hope the new Star Wars MMoRPG is going to be great, but read all the hype about it, its the next coming of Christ, just like every other game since WoW, and as soon as release these forums turn on it like pigs in blood lust, unfortinatly the same fate will befall Bioware soon. |

Warhammer Online allows you to play tier 1 indeffinatly, this game is one of the best PvP games out there and tier 1 PvP can be quite a good time PvP wise. |

Most people don't have any idea what they want, they just complain. If its not lke WoW they complain, if its like WoW they complain...MMoRPG makers need to think smaller and forget trying to beat WoW and make games that they think are fun and be happy with a couple hundred K players. Me personally, I want the PvE of WoW with the RvR of DAoC, mix up sandbox and themepark style with the Risk vs Reward of old school Everquest that has the character development depth of Anarchy Online...put that all together in either fantasy or Sci Fi and that would be the game for me. |

I see lots of you are defending the F2P change, guess when you have no money its a good thing, but, one of the things LotRO is known for is its great community, and that my friends is whats going out the window with this change, I have briefly checked out a few F2P games just to see if the quality matches P2P MMoRPGs and the terrible communities far over shadowed any thing positive in any F2P game, oh well its just a game and for me its one going into the trash bin. |

Star Trek Online: Memorial Day Weekend C-Store Discount
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/29/10 4:40:59 AM
I would have stuck with this game even though they missed the mark on exploration and made the game way to instanced, except for the fact that it seemed they where way more concerned with adding items to thier C-Store then developing stuff for the people who where paying subscriptions. |
|
|
We all love playing them, but how do we like paying for them?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/13/10 6:05:13 AM
Subscriptions are the only way I will play an MMoRPG, as allready said 15 dollars a month is very cheap for a hobby that you can get so many hours of relaxation out of. As much as I love the Star Trek IP the fact that the devs of that game seemed to spend more time making things for their micro transaction store then making content for the subscribers was forfront in my decision to unsub from thier game. |

IMO FE is an excellent MMo, but I am not sure I want to invest time into a game that may close down, who knows maybe a large developer with great ideas and the bucks to back thoughs ideas up will see the great potential in FE and buy it, before its lights out...hint, hint to Bioware, Bethesda, Blizzard..... |

Welcome Back Weekend and New Demo Play Feature
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 5/02/10 4:39:03 PM
as far as the welcome back weekend goes, I will give it a shot, will I resub? highly unlikely...but, the game that Cryptic made is pretty solid, the problem IMO is that an MMoRPG made about ST should have been massive and Cryptics ST misses the mark in to many ways, but, the graphics are great and the space combat was awesome and I even liked the ground combat, but once you do thoughs 2 things over over there is nothing more and that is whats so disapointing. |
