I don't care how successful any particular game is since I don't work for the company, I think GW2 brought a lot of innovation that is needed to this genre, but in the end i just got bored, it's way too casual oriented and your personal story is terrible and the renown heart/ Dynamic event system eventually just became like busy work that had no meaning to me. Game levels too fast, crafting is not that helpful , the economy is broken until you get into end game. So I don't dislike the game but it just didn't hold my attention.

The title of this thread is just to try and start arguments.....why bother.

And you took the time to post because .......your bored ,it's too casual or you didn't understand the crafting ?

It is completely meaningless to me how commercially successful a game is if I do not end up playing it.

If knowing a game has more people playing it than another grants you more security and a better feeling of purpose then so be it. I however make my own decisions and control my own destiny. Some people run with the lemmings while others aren't afraid to take new paths.

So you don't play any MMORPG's ?

I like how they want to be different but I never enjoyed the dungeons in GW2. The world was alright but the dungeons just did not click with me. My gaming guild is still active there but I have only logged on a handful of times since Christmas.

That's great so you won't miss anything with a "limited dungeon"

Some form of a treadmill is a good idea to a point. Wow based gear treadmills are bad, very bad. Player upgrade treadmills like Dark Age of Camelot's realm ranks were great, and GW2 dropped the ball when they didnt go with that flow, but instead went with a Wow like gear treadmill called fractals. I gave my input on fractals, I told them to remove them before Christmas, or I would be getting a refund.

What an odd post. It makes me wonder if you've played the game at all to be honest. Getting ascended rings (and only rings) in Fractals is of no resemblance to a WoW styled treadmill. You can get rings with slightly better stats than exotics. Period. And if you don't want to do Fractals you can do your dailies and get the rings that way.  WvW in GW2 does have ranks now which you can use to unlock WvW specific skills in addition to getting titles the other servers can see.

I'll give you credit though... your last sentence made me giggle.

I played every aspect of the game after it launched, got to 80, full completion, full exotics, legendary greatsword Twilight, then there was nothing to do. The pvp in GW2 isn't good at all. I don't like running around on the exact same maps over and over and over. Fractals was a big mistake on Anets part, especially when it went against their menifesto.  I have several screenshots of my character with the legendary back on page 3 or 4 for all those that say it didn't happen as well. There is no end game in GW2, once you do what I did, the game is over.

I'd be interested in playing a game I never have to do or see the same map twice ...same deal for dungeons and battlegrounds . If you are playing such a game I'd sure like a link as that is where I'd head ,in fact I'd also come back to these forums tell the GW2 folks ,once you do what I did , the game is over . But as long as end game in other games remains gear farming treadmills and no-lifer gankfests and elitist shit heads I'll stick to GW2 .

Unless your a spvp tourny champ, full best in slot gear, gotten a legendary weapon, have done every dungeon, 100% world completion, maxed out all craftings, finished the storylines, and seen every dynamic event, or dominate WvW for your server, do not tell me this game has nothing to do at level 80.

Seriously, theres a ton to do in this game.  Lets break out of the moar dungeons = more content mindset because that's an awful one and should only be saved for degenerate WoW clones.

Not the point of this thread at all. A lot of people gave a lot of good responses, particularly how the end game does not progress the actual power of your character, but just aesthetics.

The problem with what you mentioned is that it's completion for the sake of completion and not progression. You will be decked out in exotics by the time you're anywhere near 60% completion, so that 40% remaining (besides the luck in WvW required for it)  is just tedium and not challenging.

Completion for the sake of completion and nothing else is "achievement".

You missed the point GW2 is a skill based game ....once you hit 80 and gear up the only thing that can make you better is better skill level . There are lots of games where you can farm gear and run around on a treadmill , heck you don't even have to worry about pvp because the only reason anyone beats you is they have "Better Gear" What WOW and it's clones do is supply a crutch to poor players , if you want to call that end game so be it , but if you want to play a game where skill isn't handicapped by gear then GW2 is the end game to play .

Actually it is you guys that are failing to apply any common sense. Answer the guys question.  Why have the statuses not changed since launch? There are a lot less people playing now then there were then.  I don't think anyone misunderstood or misinterpreted the quote. Show me where Anet says differently? Oh you can't..... That's what I thought....

Statuses haven't changed since launch eh? At launch more than half of NA servers were full, now you've usually got 4 full servers, yep definitely haven't changed at all.

Once again you are banging your head against a wall .... it wouldn't matter what the facts were haters don't need facts to twist out  more crap .You're  right steve boy nobody plays GW2 we just come to forums have fun trading barbs with proven forum warriors like yourself . I mean after all if you don't like something nobody should Right?

Ah yes, the quote that has been misunderstood and/or conveniently interpreted by the naysayers.

Twisting a quote to fit your agenda doesn't make the new meaning you made up for that quote any more true.

Why bother using facts to deal with this pair ....neither deal with anything but hater's logic where their twisted opinions supercede any amount of facts or common sense

Well they really haven't done anything with the game on the PvE side either. What do they have to show with all of this living content after all this time? Well... nothing it's all removed after a month...

Play the game and enjoy the new content every month or play the forums and cry

I love GW2 but their customer support is horrible.. Can we blame B2P?  Maybe

They've given full refunds to complainers with over 1000 hours of gameplay I don't think their customer support is that bad.

OP, you said that you used a trial had to enter a code to activate that trial. Did you try that at all?

That statement is ridiculous. A refund isn't support. What if he just wants to play? A refund would do nothing for him.

Vorch's statement is what most people would call an example.

No not really.... a refund is not support.

Getting really hard to find things to post about ?

Remember the hype about SWTOR, GW2, AoC and a whole host of other games?

Hype is a good thing, hyperbole isnt.

Besides GW2 lived up to its hype, not just for most people.

Can't imagine anyone who enjoys playing any game caring much about the hype or the hate for any game on this site just gives an overview of any game and never once have they twisted my arm and made me buy anything

I literally played for 12 hours yesterday. World vs. World PvP is just amazing now. With the new ranking system it gives you a feeling of progression and not to mention..... wait for it...... CULLING IS FIXED!

I could literally see hundreds and hundreds of players on screen at one time. It was some of the most epic PvP I have ever encountered. Massive zergs vs massive zerg and also some nice 1 v 1 or 5 v 5 fights going on outside the giant zerg battles. I mean it really felt like WAR!!!

So glad to be back. For any of you that have quit.... take my word that things have improved a lot. Come back and join a Tier 1 or Tier 2 server and see for yourself.

a meaningless title above your head or bonuses that are so minor, that you don’t even notice them?

yea that's the problem with a skill based get better you actually have to improve, but lots of games let you farm gear so you should find something you like to play legendsolo where time played equals better skills

Two things that would make all the difference in the world to me :

Open dungeons like Darkness Falls both pvp and pve  variety all the time

Adjustable scaling on every dungeon in the game from solo to 40 man raids for every stage of every dungeon story, explorable and frac in the game

... Yeah... give credit to GW2 for something they didn't do... you do realize that it was made popular a lot by games like Rift right. GW2 all they did was jump on the band wagon, most the games you see at E3 were in development much longer then how long GW2 has been out for.

The grapes are sour with this one ....I did notice not many E3 games appearing to be influenced much by Tera's game style though , perhaps that was a band wagon most decided to miss

Not only they provide content for free, but they listen to their customers. What a change from Blizzard's "we know better than you what's good for you, you are going to raid or shut up" attitude.

I think almost everyone will be happy now with that attitude - except the "raid faming for gear" type of players, but I can live without those playing the game I play.

Apparently 10,000,000 subscribers like the idea of raiding. So I'm pretty sure you're the odd one out on that.

Actually wasn't it only 2-5% of all folks that played WOW being actual end game raiders ?....before another bullshit statement it would appear Neo would have lots of folks about 9.8 million in fact that sort of feel the same as he does ?

About 400K atm but dropping fast.

Source please.

You have always come up with "facts" concerning GW2 in the past, possibly from the Mannishwiki, and some may find your numbers questionable.

400k doesn't seem too out of place, and lines up with normal MMO activity and player reports of low pops on most servers.

Not sure what I find stranger ...pulling some bullshit comment like "and lines up with normal MMO and player reports of low pops on most servers " or using think and tank in one word . Perhaps your comment was taken out of context and you where indicating some servers had low wvwvw populations ?

Weird because I got my money back and they said my account will be closed.Maybe they forgot to close it and some hacker has been playing it lol? Or maybe its a scam to get info off me,just don't risk clicking the link but it looks official when I add it to my blocked list...over and over.....

I get the same email over and over to an old email.account I stopped using when I left WOW in 2007 ...the new account I use for GW2 has never had the scam mail sent to it

It's not the lack of gear that makes WvW somewhat average. It's its gameyness and general lack of strategy compared to simmilar pvp in other games. Oh also stupid downed state and the massive gold sink if you decide to level within it.

You should perhaps enlighten me to some of these games .... I enjoyed Shadowbane but have played nothing else like it , WoW ,Warhammer,Rift  and similar games were basic pve for pvp gear without three sided action ...AOC just sucked . So there was DAOC and GW2 for WvW  and to be honest GW2 has been every bit as good as DAOC was if not better

WvW is just plain stupid.

WvW is skill based much more then gear based ,,,,folks that like repetition that rewards better gear find it frustrating and stupid when facing opponents that own them with superior skills not just time spent playing

Well, reason why I am asking this is because I do not want to pay the money and end up hating it just half a hour into the game. I really have not played a MMO since quitting WoW back in 2011, and the only "MMO" I play now is Planetside 2.

I heard that GW2 is really only for people who like PvP and lore. Is this true? Because I really only like games kind of like Neverwinter and PS2 or even WoW like.

A MMO with awesome combat is really what I have been looking for, and was wondering if GW2 is a kind of game I will like.

Anyways, if there is any other MMO with amazing combat, raids, PvP, quests and dungeons that is either B2P or F2P, then list them as well as if GW2 is a game I will like. I would only play a P2P game if there is no other option.

Thanks for your help. and sorry if it takes me a while to respond to your questions.

bought it, played for a month and thats all.

quality game but not as good as gw1 in its time. i was expecting much more tbh, especially as a gw1 lover.

if you ask me i say go for RIFT. it is a quality game too, with excellent and hard dungeons/raids, great talent system, plenty options to play as multi or single player and wow like pvp. big plus is also fast content updates.

if you add that it has one of the best f2p model (imo wiith TERA), then RIFT is a great choice.

btw you can start playing right now (f2p starts 12 june) by taking advantage of raptr reward

Rift is a gear grind just like WOW .....if you want to chase a carrot hand feed one step at a time this is a good option
