Either way, the cash shop whales (who are the ones that can afford to buy all those potions in the first place) make PvP a joke.

Well one thing is for sure ....you aren't talking about anything you have experienced yourself !!

It is absolutely stupid , game breaking,  and costly for players to loose trade packs if they disconnect.

There are many reasons for a player to disconnect. Isp issues, issues on your end, computer issues etc::

If a player disconnects why can't he/she  login back when the issue is resolved with his/her  trade packs?

You save the ones on our back? Why can't you save the ones on the vehicles?

Strange I've never lost a pack when I've disconnected .....the packs on my back stay on my back ....the packs in the vehicles are there when I re-spawn the vehicles

Labor is for $$$$.  There's a reason why R2Games encouraged implementing that sort of system in their "How to Fish for Whales" business presentation.

Thanks for the insight .....it's always good to get a professional opinion on these topics

The fact that there are people  who actually didn't understand what a great tool labor usage could have been makes me very sad for the future of mmo gamming indeed ...if labor pots had never become a cash shop item and off/on line labor regeneration was the same amount this would have been a major step forward .

Unfortunately there seems to be enough childish spoon fed mmo players that we all will get a steady diet of themepark  WOW clone games for the next ten years .

The entire point of labor is to be a progression pay-gate.

If regeneration was higher and it wasn't in the cash shop then it would have no point in the game.

I assume you are one of those people who hates balanced games and prefers massive gear imbalances - no need to worry, the RNG crafting casino and low drop rates of rare materials prevents people from getting BiS far better than labor ever did.

Arbitrary progression caps are the most brain dead ways to design a balanced economy.

Well you assumed wrong ....in more ways than one . How the hell can you twist having a limit amount of labor into wanting to have massive gear imbalances ? If anything controlled labor would force folks to actually farm GHA ....Hasla ...or Auroria for gear and credit card crafters would have had to  spend gold for labor not cash for labor

Arbitrary progression caps aren't there to balance the economy ....it's  to control the solo centric Bis whores .

The fact that there are people who actually like labor make me very sad for the future of mmo gaming.

For the $15 a month patron status you are getting around 40 mins or less content per day. This effectively caps how much gold you can earn in a day which inevitably forces people to use the cash shop if they want to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. Even if you use gold to buy the pots, you are supporting/enabling someone spending cash which is the only thing Trion cares about.

Patron status is the biggest rip-off of all subscription fees, and progression pay-gates are the most vile and disgusting monetization strategies in the industry.

Unfortunately there seems to be enough gullible and compulsive spenders who will play any piece of garbage as long as it has pretty graphics and says 'ultimate sandbox' on the title page.

A lot of those people who have dumped real money into the game find it harder to walk away. That's another thing. They will become defenders of the game and try to convince others to play.

Perhaps a better view would be looking at all the people who have found no need to spend any real money to fully  enjoy playing this game beyond the original patron status ,,,,for every fool that dumps real money into a cash shop there are a 100 folks that don't ,,,,ALWAYS AMAZING THE HATERS just don't get the facts a 100% accurate isn't it ?

Nahh that's nothing, I've been bashing this game since before it released, I've never even created an account for it.

and the sad thing is you actually made that post ...sort of sets a value on any post you make doesn't it ?

My wife and I could not past the first 10 min of game play. Between the bad avatars, the way they walked and moved. Combat was really bad as well. Maybe it gets better at higher levels but I just could not stick around to find out. FYI that was the fastest I had judged an MMO, I normally give it a few days of game play.

Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear ,,,,,,too difficult a game for the average theme park spoon fed player to even get started at

Honestly, like, 80% of this video is just sailing around in a ship.  Not even doing anything else on that ship (no naval combat, no fishing, etc).  Just... sailing around on the darn thing.

Sure, Archeage's water graphics are quite nice, but if the purpose of this video is to get people to join the vid maker in "this fantasy world", I'd like to think most people would stop and consider "Gee, MMORPGs should be about more than just sailing around."

....but yea, like I said in my previous post, to be really representative of AA there really needs to be more PvP combat in this vid and housing/farming (which again, makes me think the vid owner doesn't even own a house in the first place).  Of course, the pessimist would also say that the vid should have tons of people hacking and exploiting to be TRULY representative of Archeage but another poster already said that in this thread.

Look at the bright side  80% of the folks that post in these forums never played the game to begin with ....I find this video about as accurate as most of the posts here anyways so bullshit goes both ways

Maybe that's because this is a propaganda trailer suggesting you will be part of a strong community.

my point proven

"majority of posters on this site" ...

To be honest that's not really a bad thing

Actually now that most of the F2P crowd  and theme park  cowboys are gone it has become a strong community

ps ..... Loosing WOW kiddies didn't hurt the community either

good catch Forgrimm ...looks like the OP should try a little research before his posts

one could say they did me a huge favor tho right . Having

huge amount of fun in the new WOW expansion.

If Black Desert isnt pay2win ill play that . Any game which is

pay2win I will avoid like the plague in future.

Better stick to RPG's then ,,,LOL haven't seen an mmo yet that wasn't pay to win

Odd isn't it 10 million subscribers and only 3.3 million buy the expansion ....does that mean 6.7 folks aren't even playing the expansion?

Quick answer ...as North Americans we are so far behind we think we are ahead ...no need for a combat queue in a modern world

Obviously XL doesn't want to spend time coding this for whatever reason.

Either way - Trion had to come up with a different solution to compensate which obviously wasn't planned.

Also the fact that they can do discounts on their own gamea shows that again this is XLs issue.

Again OPs real agenda isn't to simply "report the news" - that's an excuse - the real agenda is obvious.

Do you work for Trion? Seriously dude, they have mismanaged the hell out of this game and every post I see from you is defending them. Amazing.

There are 2 sides to every story - this forum is heavily skewed toward one side and it's not even accurate

What is not accurate about my OP? Stop accusing people of lying.

I don't think it's lying he's accusing you off ...but you can twist it any way you want I guess

The main issue is if they start using certain exploits that make it impossible to refresh the owners' mark, like some people are doing.  Yet another "free choice" gameplay aspect of Archeage that's gone to hell due to exploiters.  Though IMHO "freedom to be an asshat" cases like these are detrimental to a game's life in general even if exploits weren't involved.

Often a fine line between idiot and asshat ,,,,,sounds more like a case of greed on both sides of the coin in this case

I agree with you, but they are 2 different points. There is the ratio of cheaters in any given game then there is the impact that those cheaters can have on the game. I was only addressing the one issue in response to another post.

In all honesty, the entire argument to compare P2W in AA to P2W in WoW is a ridiculous one. There is no comparison. When a new or returning player joins or re-joins WoW, there is virtually no impact on his/her game play by those who are using RMT (cheating or not) This is not the case with AA. Someone who is going to start playing or returning after time away has much to consider when it comes to how RMT and cheating has and will impact their game.

When I see someone saying if AA is P2W, then WoW is P2W too, it's just an attempt to deflect the issue of what's wrong with AA. These 2 games are on entirely different levels when it comes to the average player's experience and what they have to deal with from cheaters and RMTers.

Just out of curiosity .... How much AA have you actually experienced GeezerGamer ? I mean all these posts you have made are backed up by actual personal experience aren't they?

Then don't!

Two words, "Instant gratification"

Here is an idea, go play the game how it was designed, earn your gear, take your time, then you can be "competitive". Just because others are taking the "easy" route, doesn't mean you have to. The end result is the same but one is goal oriented and will give you a sense of accomplishment and the other Epeen with short term commitment. If you cannot get over what other players have and how fast they got it, that is a problem of your own and your own compulsive desires.

A lot of those same players who are buying their success will end up running out of goals and leaving anyway thus leaving those of us who are earning our items with plenty of goals and long term achievements.

Well said .........the fact that 90% of the folks that play the game have no need or interest in spending a single cent on labour potions just goes up in smoke with the forum warriors ...too bad what's such a huge issue to the forum  hater's is something almost never worried about by someone playing the game .

Do so at your own risk. It's against EULA in WoW. You can get prema banned. Even if you don't, You can lose that character you just bought when the original owner who ebayed it decides he wants it back claiming he hadn't been playing for years and his account was stolen when he proves he was the original owner. This has happened. Etc etc.

And then there is the whole scale of it. What percentage of AA players are cheating or paying to win vs. players in WoW who are cheating?  The majority of WoW players I know don't cheat like this.

You gotta love these arguments, really. The argument for ArchAge up until recently was that it wasn't P2W it was P2Faster. But that's ArcheAge. Because you can eventually get there (No, you really can't, but that was the argument anyway) However, when it's WoW (and it's cheating, not P2W) That rule seems to go out the window because there are players who ebay accounts. Now it's P2W even though, WoW would be (if it had a cash shop like AA's) the perfect example of P2Faster since just playing the game normally will get you where you want to be and it doesn't really take long either. So which is it? When it's AA, it's not P2W but WoW is P2W? Really?

Come on give your head a shake on this one .....the same brand of  asshats that cheated in Daoc cheated in WOW and every game since  .... and are the core cheaters in AA . The names may change but the nature of the beast doesn't ,looks to me like paying a monthly subscription  is p2w in most of your opinions but that's another matter indeed
