Is the game really THAT bad?

If you are a fanboy it should be good for you. If you are not, is the same as playing wow in space but with worse combat and more bugs. |

Honestly ! Who would actually pay 15 a month for this???
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/28/11 7:04:19 AM
Originally posted by Gdemami I have to disagree! Developers make 80% of a game profit on the box sales. Creating content for a game based on subs are not as profitable as box sales. That why SOE usally charges $60 for big updates. This is the MMORPG box sales cycle: 1- Company get a well known IP 2- Company advertise luring the potential mmos lovers and the IP lovers to their potential game 3- Company create an expectation, make promises about the content that they do not intend to fullfill 4- Company sell millions of boxes at the release getting the invested money back + a huge profite 5- Company deliver a mediocre game, made to sell boxes only 6 -Company move to another big IP leaving a small second class dev team to create regular content for those fanboys that still playing that mediocre game they developed for box sales purpose only 6 - The cycle restart ...

Originally posted by JusticeArts Dude, this does not make sense at all. Are you a share holder of Bioware or Lucas Arts? Why would you play a horrible game only because it has a brand name on the box?

What makes someone want to hate on a game repeatedly?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/28/11 6:40:43 AM
Originally posted by zymurgeist I disagree. First. I have seen way better game releases before. For Bioware is their obligation, at least, for 5 years of development, have a smooth launch, do not praise them for the minimal achievements. Second. Add up $150.000.000 + Known IP + Experienced Company + 5 Years = (what do you expect?) Did they gave us a great game? NOT, they have 10 times of everything that Trion have in money, Ip, time and gave us a inferior game. No excuses, they did a crappy job, give up defending them. |

Originally posted by tryklon Give it 6 months... 6 months or GW2 release, whatever comes first. Then we should talk about ghost servers and merging, player migration, non-existent end-game content etc.. |

Originally posted by Angier2758 This is not true! You guys are creating another illusion about reality again. SWTOR is a big disapointment for millions who were expecting a different game. We have the right to criticize and express our feelings wherever we want to, in the way we want. I played the BETA and had to cancel my pre-order because imo the game suck! Can you live with this? Now you are saying that we are doing this as a vengeance or that we are making this up. You are wrong kid. If you like that second class mmo go ahead and play it. But do not expect people that does not like the game to be silent. Why would I shup up? But I do ask you. Why are you so concern about the people that thinks SWTOR stinks? The game is a bad joke, we expected a mmorpg that would make a difference and we got this WOW prototype instead, full of bugs, with bad animations, dumb mobs and mediocre combat that dont even have an auto-attack. Take away the SW IP theme, the voice overs. What you got? A mediocre mmo! Can you face the truth? No you cant! I played DCUO BETA as well, I said this at the time " this game is not worth of $60. This game is going ft2 in 6 months" Guess what? I was right! Same thing with SWTOR, there is no content in that game to keep anyone playing that pass level 50. People will get tired of the "pew pew" of lightsabers. In time they will migrate to GW2. Can you live with this reality! Im saving my money for GW2, Blade & Soul and The Secret World. Better games as far we can see, at least with better graphics and better combat animations. Do you think EA, Bioware or Lucas Arts care about you? They dont. the money they make on Box sales cover for the expenses and make them a GREAT profit. After that, they give a **** if you stay playing or not. They dont need the subs after the box sales. Welcome to the World. EDIT> Bioware doesn't know how to make an mmo, but they know how to sell boxes. There is where the money is "Box Sales" SOE knows it, EA knows it. They make games to sell boxes then they move on to another popular IP. Now, stop crying about us. Go play your SWTOR while you have friends to play with. You have 6 months kids, 6 months or GW2 release whatever comes first. |
