I find myself slightly agreeing with you, but WoW does still have some pretty strong subscription numbers. I don't see them giving up on that sort of income.

However, I could see them opening up the vanilla lands, maybe (though doubtful) even TBC areas, as free in hopes it would bring in more people and regain the numbers they've lost recently.

Anything is possible, but when you're on the top of the hill you're sitting in a pretty comfortable position.

If they did that I would have to get a third account for the "vanilla" aspect. Although the true vanilla part of the game is gone.

Wow was a fluke. Released at just the right time on the heels of Warcraft III and was swept up in a rush of people wanting to play in the Warcraft III world openly. It was a great game to begin with, then the expansions started. BC was good, gave the game a little bit more. Then Lich King hit and it started downhill with Activision buying up Blizzard about 6 months before. Things started to be rushed out the door then. LK was going to be delayed before Activision stepped in and said it was going to release, with or without everything that was supposed to be in it. I still play it and I do enjoy it somewhat. I just wish they had not made it "faceroll for the win" to attract new players, it was already casual enough.

Not sure if I would play Titan, even without any info on it. Every FTP game I have been in holds my interest for about 2-3 months, just until it gets frustrating because you have to be nickled and dimed to death to play like it should with a sub.

Blizzard's decline continues. World of Warcraft evolves to casual kid's game with pandas to compete with child-friendly Hello Kirty Online, along with repetitive expansions and updates. Diablo 3 is an auction-house game with a boring, minor dark fantasy mini-game. Titan is dead. Starcraft 2 is a good game ruined by a greedy, buy-me-three-times cash grab. This is not the vibrant, innovative, gamer-friendly company it used to be.

Wow used to be a game that you actually had to think about several things to get the most our of you character. Talents was one thing that stood out, that's gone and now everyone is the same. Used to have to respect several times in order to get the most DPS from a char cause there were so many choices. Learning things like weapon skill is gone. The whole game is faceroll keyboard for win. If they had kept it the same as it was in vanilla WoW and just added the expansions they might still have 12 million players. As far as the company is concerned, they changed the minute they were bought out into a cash grab company.

Loch Modan, WoW Pre-Cata

Used to love going round and round, gathering as I went. Drops galore were great right before BC and WotLK hit as new people needed to level with gear and lots of mats for new crafters. Made a great deal of gold off that place.

I think NC has no interest in that anymore (COX).

I never said NC has any interest in CoH. NC has interest in profit.

What could be easier and effortless profit than filing lawsuits against former workers who are "borrowing" ideas?

They didn't sue over Champions.  That game had at least as much in common with CoX as this does.  DCUO does too.  The main difference is story and setting.  Which is all it really takes because you can't own the rights to an entire subset of gaming.  Else we'd all be paying out to nintendo for each super meat boy made.

Cryptic developed and NCSoft  published CoH. They can't do a thing about any other super hero game as long as their IP is not infringed. Can't call it CoH 2 and as long as the code is different they cannot sue. Marvel sued over the fact that you could use the character creator and make super heroes like the marvel comic book characters and it violated their IP rights. NCSoft sued  Blue Hole Studios over the fact that the code for Lineage 3 was used to create Rift, not because they were former Lineage developers and "borrowed" ideas.

Hell of a way for someone to jump into the game. Just under $200 for those in the US, plus shipping of course. Wonder if they are going to offer a digital version for a lot less? Close to $100 for the physical stuff alone.
I actually like pvp....when I choose to participate. That is why I will only roll on a PVE server of any game. If the game has no PVE servers, I don't play it. I like the leveling process and open pvp gets in the way. End game, I play pvp matches, battlegrounds or arena, whatever the game has, but it's my choice to enter it.
PC gaming will always be better until they can get better with UI on console. Anything that was made with console in mind when made for PC at the same time, the UI has always sucked. Defiance is the latest one to come to mind. The UI on PC is horrible at best as it was made for console navigation. Chat is another thing. Until they fix the lag problems thru the console servers, your better off on PC utilizing a 3rd party chat system with their own servers, and if chat goes down on console, forget about typing unless you have something like the chatpad on the 360. Then there is the fact that you get more from a PC in the fact of changing your key setup, or expanding it with specialized keyboards. Can't do that with a console. Might be able to move around the buttons, but can't set up your own sequence. Not to mention your restricted to the consoles hardware, with PC, just upgrade to something better and it will still play all the games you could before without having to buy another PC cause it wasn't "backwards compatible"
Yes, this is ok. Xbox live has been doing this all along. At least with PS+ we get some free games and discounts on other stuff as well. Xbox live you get to play online and that's it.

Defiance does have a large number of players only problem is they are split up due to 360 and PS3 communities being seperate... thanks Sony and Microsoft for being douche bags over this.

Actually, it was Microsoft that was being the douche in that respect. Sony wanted to be all on one and was willing to work with everyone, including Apple for the Mac versions. Microsoft said no, they will have their own servers. Guess the guys at Microsoft are still pissed about having to put blueray into their next machine.

After reading the review, gotta say on some points it's spot on, on others he is way off as well as others on this site. I have been playing since launch and have encountered no real problems except the fiasco with the new patch. But then again, I have also been playing SW:ToR since prelaunch and it had more problems than Defiance has had as far as I have seen. Servers have been up more than ToR at launch and they were at 95%. Have people had problems connecting, sure, but don't always blame the game without looking at your ISP first. Sometimes buggy AI, well duh, same as I have seen in almost all the others MMO's I have taken part in at launch. The first 6 months of most MMO's are the toughest when it comes to bugs and things that need patching. IMHO, no MMO should have a full review until after 6 months have gone by and a lot of stuff has been dealt with already. Shooters are some peoples cup of tea, others not so much. If you like shooters it can be fun. If you like swinging swords, you won't like Defiance.
Yes it was worth more to me as I bought the Digital Delux and the Season Pass from steam thru the rewards sytem. From it and the Arkfall codes got a bunch of in game extras and I have been playing every free minute I can. I like the fact that it keeps going instead of gets good then your done like with most single player games. Probably have 30-40 hours in game, would have more but theres a pesky thing called a job i have to go to.

I'm sorry, but IMHO there needs to be class imbalances. If everyone is the same, no one is different. Look at what WoW did. Back in vanilla, the factions were different in the fact their were class differences. Horde had shamans and Alliance had paladins as their faction specific classes and it was good time then in PvP. Then Burning Crusade hit and that was the end of that. No one had an advantage, only advantage was getting more people to one area faster than the others in all battlegrounds. The unique feel was gone as was the fun of having to face a class you could not play and get used to unless you rolled the other faction. Then the whiners really hit and the crying was unbearable to the developers and to shut them up they made everyone the same. No one could be unique in their class builds anymore cause the changed talent points and then took them away and gave you a choice of a class spell every 15 lvls. I really enjoyed WoW and played thru Mists hoping to be able to continue enjoying it, but sadly that is gone along with any uniqueness of any class or faction.

Do not buy this shit. It will be free to play or dead in less then 6 months. With the exception of the main story line wich is not a good story you will spend 95% of the time doing the blandest fetch/kill quests mowing down  the same 10 npcs over and over. If you are intrested in the game and must try it please try the beta first. There are way to many good games out there that deserve your time and money over this pile of poop.

BUY TO PLAY, no sub idiot, just like Guild Wars 2. There are challenges that people try to top other with and reap rewards from no matter how many times you do them. Lots of random encounters as well. My guess is that you probably played for less than 30 min if you were in beta at all. I've seen this same kinda crap spewed about games that are 3+ years old, just because the person did'nt know how to play in the first place. It's not a typical MMO, is a persistant shooter. Think COD Black Ops 2 on an MMO scale. Only gripe I have has been the same as many, the UI.

am i missing something, or is that mostly it? i cant be bothered being interested, if theres no sandbox elements, and just boring fetch quests.  mybe the occasional pvp, but doesnt actually have any real meaninful rewards for it.

To be quite frank, just play the beta and learn for yourself. I am having a blast (pun intended) going around and finding random quests and the Ark Fall events are bitchin. Was in one last night that had at least 75 or more in it and no hickups, no lag, no nothing, just pure run and gun. It does have a small learning curve cause it is not a typical MMO. But once your past that, it can get crazy at times.

Freaking awsome. Love the combo towards the end. Heavy morter stuck everyone in place then the sniper decloaks and pops their heads like watermelons with a sledghammer.
After checking out the deal on Steam for the pre-order, I might cancel my box CE pre-order and go for the digital deluxe on steam. I was getting the CE for the extra in game stuff such as the extra inventory , but steams version is even more than the physical box offers and if enough people get it, you get a couple of sweet rides to go along with it and Rift: Storm Front as well. They have a percent to unlock the extras and already at 2% and it was announced just last night. Gonna wait and watch it for the next few days. Last tier also includes a discount on the Season Pass, not sure how much, but was gonna get it anyway.

Wow $60 to buy the game and then yousay the pree pass is on discount right now at $39.99? WTF is that shit? This is not the norm for shooters.

You put out a DLC pack at regular price that cost $50? Seems a little steep for me considering the norm for map packs and what not in the shooter world is 20 bucks.

so far this is a $110 dollar game LMMFAO!

I was excited about checking this game out and seeing how it plays out...........but to be quite honest this article has turned me off.

They said for the next 5 DLC packs. If the norm is $20 and they are offering 5 for $40 then yes, it would seem like a discount going by the norm.

So far this is $110 for the game and next 5 DLCs.

It may benefit you to read the whole thing because it would appear you have not.

You obviously missed my point. $20 would be the norm for all 5 DLC combined. Not $20 each.

X-Box 360 price for DLC on Black Ops 2 is 1600 microsoft points which cost $20. $20X5=$100 Season Pass For Black Ops 2 is 4000 Points which is currently $50, so yes, that is a bargain at $40 for 5 DLC packs. Season pass on Steam for Black Ops 2 is also $50. So $20 for all 5 is not the norm.

Lets hope they give Jedi tanks some lovin on the gear side so that the available sets at low levels  don't make them look like troopers carrying a lightsaber.

Quite frankly, no one said that EVE was a faceroll game. WoW is there for that. It boils down to if you want to think or not. People that like a challenge and like to think about what they are doing play EVE. People that don't like to think and don't like to work for the things they get ingame like WoW. Simple no? Sounds like you need to step into WoW and get over it. Also, CCP never stated, to my knowledge, that they wanted to be a WoW killer. In fact they were here before WoW. And they do see the big picture, they don't want a million people that are going to pick it up and drop it in a month. Most of their subscribers have been there for 5+ years. WoW gives yoou faceroll win. EVE gives you immersion. Plain and simple.
