Defiance: One Million Registrations Strong
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/02/13 9:08:28 PM
Originally posted by SupportPlayerMM Actually, it was Microsoft that was being the douche in that respect. Sony wanted to be all on one and was willing to work with everyone, including Apple for the Mac versions. Microsoft said no, they will have their own servers. Guess the guys at Microsoft are still pissed about having to put blueray into their next machine. |

After reading the review, gotta say on some points it's spot on, on others he is way off as well as others on this site. I have been playing since launch and have encountered no real problems except the fiasco with the new patch. But then again, I have also been playing SW:ToR since prelaunch and it had more problems than Defiance has had as far as I have seen. Servers have been up more than ToR at launch and they were at 95%. Have people had problems connecting, sure, but don't always blame the game without looking at your ISP first. Sometimes buggy AI, well duh, same as I have seen in almost all the others MMO's I have taken part in at launch. The first 6 months of most MMO's are the toughest when it comes to bugs and things that need patching. IMHO, no MMO should have a full review until after 6 months have gone by and a lot of stuff has been dealt with already. Shooters are some peoples cup of tea, others not so much. If you like shooters it can be fun. If you like swinging swords, you won't like Defiance.

Yes it was worth more to me as I bought the Digital Delux and the Season Pass from steam thru the rewards sytem. From it and the Arkfall codes got a bunch of in game extras and I have been playing every free minute I can. I like the fact that it keeps going instead of gets good then your done like with most single player games. Probably have 30-40 hours in game, would have more but theres a pesky thing called a job i have to go to.

[Column] Elder Scrolls Online: An Argument for 'Faction Lock'
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/10/13 9:54:08 PM
I'm sorry, but IMHO there needs to be class imbalances. If everyone is the same, no one is different. Look at what WoW did. Back in vanilla, the factions were different in the fact their were class differences. Horde had shamans and Alliance had paladins as their faction specific classes and it was good time then in PvP. Then Burning Crusade hit and that was the end of that. No one had an advantage, only advantage was getting more people to one area faster than the others in all battlegrounds. The unique feel was gone as was the fun of having to face a class you could not play and get used to unless you rolled the other faction. Then the whiners really hit and the crying was unbearable to the developers and to shut them up they made everyone the same. No one could be unique in their class builds anymore cause the changed talent points and then took them away and gave you a choice of a class spell every 15 lvls. I really enjoyed WoW and played thru Mists hoping to be able to continue enjoying it, but sadly that is gone along with any uniqueness of any class or faction. |

[Preview] Defiance: A Hard Look at Trion’s Gamble
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/24/13 1:47:55 AM
Originally posted by ciid BUY TO PLAY, no sub idiot, just like Guild Wars 2. There are challenges that people try to top other with and reap rewards from no matter how many times you do them. Lots of random encounters as well. My guess is that you probably played for less than 30 min if you were in beta at all. I've seen this same kinda crap spewed about games that are 3+ years old, just because the person did'nt know how to play in the first place. It's not a typical MMO, is a persistant shooter. Think COD Black Ops 2 on an MMO scale. Only gripe I have has been the same as many, the UI. |

Watched Youtube vids, no sandbox, just fetch quests 90% of the time?
General Discussion « Defiance 3/24/13 1:18:32 AM
Originally posted by Jeroam To be quite frank, just play the beta and learn for yourself. I am having a blast (pun intended) going around and finding random quests and the Ark Fall events are bitchin. Was in one last night that had at least 75 or more in it and no hickups, no lag, no nothing, just pure run and gun. It does have a small learning curve cause it is not a typical MMO. But once your past that, it can get crazy at times. |

Defiance: Have Gun, Will Mod

Freaking awsome. Love the combo towards the end. Heavy morter stuck everyone in place then the sniper decloaks and pops their heads like watermelons with a sledghammer.

Defiance: Season Pass Announced
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/13 1:55:44 PM
After checking out the deal on Steam for the pre-order, I might cancel my box CE pre-order and go for the digital deluxe on steam. I was getting the CE for the extra in game stuff such as the extra inventory , but steams version is even more than the physical box offers and if enough people get it, you get a couple of sweet rides to go along with it and Rift: Storm Front as well. They have a percent to unlock the extras and already at 2% and it was announced just last night. Gonna wait and watch it for the next few days. Last tier also includes a discount on the Season Pass, not sure how much, but was gonna get it anyway.

Defiance: Season Pass Announced
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/13 8:56:52 AM
Originally posted by drtack1 X-Box 360 price for DLC on Black Ops 2 is 1600 microsoft points which cost $20. $20X5=$100 Season Pass For Black Ops 2 is 4000 Points which is currently $50, so yes, that is a bargain at $40 for 5 DLC packs. Season pass on Steam for Black Ops 2 is also $50. So $20 for all 5 is not the norm. |

Quite frankly, no one said that EVE was a faceroll game. WoW is there for that. It boils down to if you want to think or not. People that like a challenge and like to think about what they are doing play EVE. People that don't like to think and don't like to work for the things they get ingame like WoW. Simple no? Sounds like you need to step into WoW and get over it. Also, CCP never stated, to my knowledge, that they wanted to be a WoW killer. In fact they were here before WoW. And they do see the big picture, they don't want a million people that are going to pick it up and drop it in a month. Most of their subscribers have been there for 5+ years. WoW gives yoou faceroll win. EVE gives you immersion. Plain and simple.

Neverwinter: Beta Weekends and Founders' Packs Detailed
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/28/13 11:43:12 PM
Ain't even gone into open beta and they want to sell it already? Fug no. I'll wait for Elder scrolls beta before I buy this. Bought the damndable lifetime sub for TSW and now it's free. I will never buy anything pre-order again without doing a beta. Not just paying for getting into the beta.

Ok. I buy the game and don't sub I get 8 char slots and 288 bank slots, but the rest is restricted. I don't buy and I sub I can have only 2 char slots and if I want more have to purchase and only 72 bank slots with option to purchase. Hell even TOR is not that restrictive if you decide to sub. In ToR a sub unlocks everything and you don't have to make any type of purchase if you don't want to. But in TERA, unless you buy the game and not just switch from ftp to sub, you get screwed. Nice.

[General Article] City of Heroes: Profitable or Not?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/10/13 12:27:54 AM
Do I believe or not if CoH was profitable. Yes, they were. Anyone who bought the game when the x-pansion Going Rogue came out would have to have been a subscriber. Why do I say this? Basically when the game went FTP, it cut off everything that was good about the x-pansion. The new contumes and powers were not available in the FTP side, only the subscription. Before people jump up and down, it was in the Faq's and basically stated that in order to access Going Rogue you had to sub, I could not access any of the powers or costumes when I decided to give it a shot. Tried to keep going back and kept checking the website for any changes and none came. I say that if your gonna cut off a big chunk from the FTP players, don't make it the stuff they have already paid for if they were former subscribers. It has the tendancy to piss people off. Played for almost 5 years from mid 2005 to early 2010. Took a break, then came back for Going Rogue and played till May 2011. Took another break till after FTP, went live and saw that NCSoft no longer cared about people who had bought their products, they just wanted more money. Kept trying to get back into it, but was nagged by the feeling of" We got your money, go screw yourself if you don't want to sub to keep the stuff you paid for". Finally uninstalled in Jan 2012. Used to be a good game, but I think NCSoft bigwigs just started getting more dollar signs in their eyes and it was'nt coming from CoH enough. |

Sony is trying to commit suicide for some unknown reason.
General Gaming « General Discussion 1/03/13 2:20:10 PM
Just read this article and was wondering, how many people would still support Sony if it happens? I for one will not as I buy a lot of my games second hand. Hopefully they won't do this as they would lose out completly to Nintendo and Microsoft. Unless Microsoft does the same, then Nintendo would be loving it. |

The War Z: An Open Letter to the Community
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/27/12 11:22:55 PM
Quite frankly I have been wondering why they released in such an unfinished state as that none of what they were claiming was in the game? They were trying to say it was a beta, but that's what testing is for? Why release a product in beta as a finished product other than just a money grab and to hell with the buyers. I was thinking about getting the game, but not now. If they are not gonna put out a game in a finished state, then the game is not worth a second look. People were all up in arms about ToR when it was put out and yet it could be played all the way thru with what they said was gonna be in it. A lot needed fixing because of bugs and such, but at least it was in the game. |

Quite frankly, all the "I hate Steam" banter I have seen almost all of it dealt with either when it was starting or cannot stay connected. The starting and hanging problem is usually due to the number of games it has to check every time it starts, longest it takes mine is 30 sec, I don't have that many games with or thru steam. The connection problem, sometimes could be steam, then again don't have downloads and updates going at the same time and by golly your IP could suck as well. I have had probelms connecting a couple of times and both times my son was streaming Netflix on the xbox360. Also, your comp could just be sucky. Don't buy an off the shelf comp and expect it to perform like a custom built rig. Off the shelves are built with the lowest costing hardware and software they can get so that they can jack the price up and make money off it.

When it goes ftp, then I might make a spot on my HD for it. Till then, no thanks. The main problem I have seen with this is they tried to do the same thing over again. WoW style quests, AoC style combat with dodge added. At least AoC made no reservations about it being a mature only game and that's why it still has a fairly decent following. Maybe if they did'nt "clean" it up for the western audience it probably would have done better. Bottom line is don't wipe out part of your game that makes it great and expect it to be the same game. All because they were worried about getting a mature only tag. Guess what, that's probably the only people still playing.
