After playing open beta, I have to say no. It did not hold my interest and if I want to see cartoons like the characters in it, I'll watch cartoon network. Gameplay was ok and the combat system seems more like turn based while waiting for your "spells" to go off without any type of animation, it gets boring and repetitive.
They are hoping for GTA 5 numbers with this. It was released in mid Sept and by the end of Oct it had sold over 29 million copies. Good luck to them. Sitting on the fence anyway as I am into ESO right now.

For any game wide economy to be broken, you first have to have a game wide economy. ESO has pocket economies, not a game wide one. For there to be a game wide economy, everyone has to have access to the things that people are selling, no mater what guild they may have access to. I understand why they did this, to encourage people to interact more with the people shouting "WTS" in all the major cities. But it does cut way down on a sellers and a buyers options as there is no open market system. Not to mention that the people you are gouging to make money may be the ones by your side when raiding. Just my thoughts on the subject.

ESO has much bigger issue than bugs/exploits/rocky launch.... the grind in Veteran Ranks is brutal. and questing in Veteran Ranks... well to put it bluntly, sucks.

Also why should we forgive problems during launch?

Because many previous games had problems? To me that's not a valid excuse period.

1. You spend $60 - the game should work, the quests (especially MAIN quest) should work, the server shouldn't be down for 14 hours, bank slots deleted - this should not happen ever.

Mass bans (including players who never duped), then unbans of folks who duped too?

There are some things that are very hard to forgive.

I feel that Zenimax does not know and are not ready to host a AAA game - I am not going to give them another shot at this time.

I have no confidence in their ability to run an online game at this time. So I will play out my remaining 2 weeks but no sub from me.

I can tell that you have not played many MMO's at launch. Probably never played WoW before the end of its first year. Hell the first 6 months of WoW, players were lucky to be able to have it up 6 days in a row. It spent more time down than up it seemed in the fist couple if months, and look at the way it turned out. Play your month, quit bitchin about launches being buggy, and go play a console game........after it patches.

Regardless of what score you think ESO deserves, I find it hard to take MMO reviews seriously from a publication that thinks Wildstar is going to be one of the best games of the year.  PC Gamer has given the impression over time that it's staff collectively arrived at a negative impression of ESO months before it released.  Personally, I think it probably does the best job of being a good RPG of any MMORPG that has ever released.  Different strokes.

Don't forget, it was PC Gamer that also said SW:TOR was going to be huge and gave it a 93. I don't even read reviews anymore, half of them are dead wrong as far as I am concerned, and the other half it seems they were either paid for their favorable review or they don't play the genre of games they are reviewing and therefore have NO KNOWLEDGE of the game and only play for a couple of hours before writing.

It is, nonetheless, the exception. My enthusiasm for The Elder Scrolls Online's competitive side doesn't stack up against the time I have spent feeling drained by drab questing or restricted by a world ensconced in fog. This is an MMORPG of moderate scope with a few good ideas and the resources invested in it seem sufficient to expect new dungeons, daily quests and armour sets to collect at a decent clip for the next couple of months. If you're tired of your current fantasy haunt and looking for somewhere to transfer your guild, this game may suit you for a time. For everyone else, though, I'd advise caution. There's no game that I'd be happy recommending on the basis that it's at best 'okay' for thirty-plus hours. 'Okay' isn't good enough when you're facing down this much of a premium, and I can't imagine paying a monthly fee to visit somewhere I've been many times before.

PC Gamer also gave SW:TOR a 93, and it is about as dull as anything I have ever played. I tried to enjoy it, I really did. I subbed to TOR for a year, but after that I just could not do it anymore. I really like the visual style of it and the combat system. Story was good, but the damn repetition just got to me after about 2 months. ESO is not on rails, that was my biggest complaint about TOR. No way to change direction of leveling. One way only and the quests were basically lined up like pins in an alley. At least with ESO I can go exploring different parts of the world. By the way, ok for thirty-plus hours? Hell I'm over 80 and do not see myself stopping for a long time. And here I thought it was addicting to find things in Skyrim in the over 800 hours I have in it.

I think its a mistake not bringing this to PC. Gorgeous settings, nasty looking enemies, if the gameplay is half as good as it looks, this could give WoW a run for the money. I know people have been hearing this for years, but IMO it could. WoW is reaching the end of its cycle and has had a hell of a run. But it's getting stale and it's faceroll simple anymore. People thought SW:TOR was going to be the big one because of it's stories and voice acting. Voice acting was good, stories, not so much, and if you played thru with one character, thee was no real reason to play again as you would see the exact same things as it was completely linear throughout most of the game. Only way to see different things when leveling was to play the other faction. I hope they change their minds on the PC for this game, it could pull me away from my current and future (for now) time sink, ESO.

I think they said it was just first character

Where did it say that? I pre-ordered back in February and have screen shots of the edition and the FAQ and no where does it state that all bonuses are just for one character. Every MMO out there from WoW to Rift, everything is for all characters, not just one. Could be a big problem for them in the long run, people tend to get a little po'd when they are promised something that they pay for and then it changes when they get it.

So I've seen the threads that said you can only claim the pre-order items one time per account.  I had a question related to that, that I cannot find an answer to.

If you pre-order is your account flagged so you can always make any race any faction?  Or can you only make any race any faction for your first character?  Or is it only possible to use the any race any faction bonus while early access is happening?

Thanks for the input.

Any race or faction for Imperial edition, even after launch. The extra items however is going to be a problem. Every other MMO out there when they promise extra stuff it on ALL characters that you make. This time however, they decided to do only one per account.....without telling anyone. The forums apparently have a lot of pissed off people because of this. Hell in WoW I have multiple toons with "special" pets that come from things like collectors edition, and that was before the Mists of Panderia and the whole pokemon thing. Same thing with Age of Conan and Secret World. They give the special stuff for all toons that you decide to make in all other games, but with ESO it apparently it's "We got your money now STFU and take it like a man."

Well, looks like I will be staying out of major cities unless I absolutely have to go. That much selling spam will get annoying real fast.
Wow, a starter zone being boring. I've never seen that before.....ah wait, yes I have. In every MMO I have ever played. Starter zones are just that, they get you started, used to the play style and controls. Get you going so that later your not going "What do I do again?" I have been in 3 betas now and I was ready to preorder after the first. I enjoy the game and will continue to do so for along time. I also did not find the starter zones as "boring" as some people may as I like to explore and find new things and not try and power level thru, but to each their own.

"I am not an expert in MMORPS's-or much of a fan of them."

I pretty much wanted to stop reading after this, but unfortunately I did not. Why would I want to read a review on MMO's by someone who does not play them much? What is it with people reviewing games when they are not fans of the genre, or even play them much? I would not expect a person working for Sony to give a glowing review to the Xbox One. So why do people expect anything less than what this guy rambled on about when he does not even know MMO's that well. Hell, the 2nd to last paragraph sums up the writers ignorance in the genre, the game, and single player games like Skyrim(which was referred to often) as well it seems.

I was going to go for the CE, but then I thought I really just want the in game bonuses and don't really need another statue. I have the CE of SW:TOR, Skyrim (really cool looking dragon statue), and I just got the CE for console for my son, (he got the game I got the goodies) of Batman Arkham Origins, got a cool led lit statue with it for half of what it was when it came out. Shelf is kinda full so I really did not need another statue, that and I saved $20 getting the digital Imperial Edition, so there is my first month of sub.

I have to say that I'm happy that we get to chose our play style instead of just being thrown on to a server that is always just PvP. I enjoy PvP, I just don't want to deal with the hassle of having higher levels always trying to grief you like on a PvP server in most other games. When I want to level I don't want to have to deal with some jackhole that gets their jollies from continually killing lower levels. I want to PvP on my time and that is not all the time.

I'll check it out, looks interesting at least. Interesting to note that some media outlets are already calling for it to flop, and there hasn't been a whole lotta hype just yet. Seems like an underdog...be mighty interesting if it becomes a sleeper hit in the long run. If it's fun I'll stick with it, but I will also be checking out other moms too.

Media outlets that have embraced games like SW:TOR saying that they were going to be the "be all end all" of MMO's. I guess that it means that the game is actually going be something. I don't go by what others say about a game, I play and decide for myself. Lemmings follow each other over the cliff. If a person just goes by what others say about everything without finding out for themselves, they will never be anything more than a lemming. Don't be a lemming. By the way, I check out other moms too ;)

Gonna wait until both have gone thru revisions. Did the same with PS3 and Xbox 360. I have both and to me, at least on the last generation, Xbox 360 has better multiplayer with more people, PS3 has better graphics and stability. PS3 bought back Christmas 2010, Christmas 2011 for the 360. As far as the games go, both have good exclusives, that's why I eventually got both, and I will do the same for the PS4 and Xbox1.
Not here to start any arguments of what is or was better and when. I just want to know how many people actually read the article? I looked up several articles and they all said the same thing including the EA announcement, EA develops over several platform and will continue with SW:TOR of course. Disney retains the right to social, mobile, apps and ONLINE development. If I am reading these articles correctly, Disney can have another company make future SW online games if they want.
Online subs still make up about 1/4 of their revenue. Hell, WoW could drop to 5 million and they will still be making more in subs than most do with everything. There is always a boost when a new game hits, then it's gone in a month without a constant revenue stream. $75 million a month, every month, from a single game is nothing to sneeze at.

As long as the scaling is voluntary, such as going and turning off XP to stay at level, I'm all for it. Allows people to run with guildies that are leveling and need someone or just q-up for their favorite old world dungeon and raid runs.

I find myself slightly agreeing with you, but WoW does still have some pretty strong subscription numbers. I don't see them giving up on that sort of income.

However, I could see them opening up the vanilla lands, maybe (though doubtful) even TBC areas, as free in hopes it would bring in more people and regain the numbers they've lost recently.

Anything is possible, but when you're on the top of the hill you're sitting in a pretty comfortable position.

If they did that I would have to get a third account for the "vanilla" aspect. Although the true vanilla part of the game is gone.
