Thanks for all the advice guys. And i'm not a single parent. It was a surprise to me and my girlfriend and in the future we will be getting married and we are very happy together and have been for over a year now. She will be changing all the diapers. rawr.

Warhammer wouldn't be that bad of a choice to be honest, if you just jump into an open Warband for a keep seige or general open RvR, do a few scenarios, a PQ or whatever you're not going to kop any flack if you say 'Hey thanks for the group guys I have to go and take care of my baby now' and you're certainly not going to cause your team to lose.

 

I find that PvE games can be a lot more demanding, once you're grouped to do something you generally commit to the duration of the task at hand.

 

*edit* I agree with Kyleran too, EVE would be a fair choice.

I've played EVE and while its a very , go away and do your thing and come back game It's not really my type of game. I may have to keep playing warhammer then, the scenarios are just short enough to make good use of time, but those times require a lot of attention, as short as it may be...

Thank you, That's what I meant, if its to take an hour nap or say the wifey is holding him/her i' could do something like play an MMO that doesn't require much attention.. I didnt mean to make this sound like i was taking away time from the baby.. just something to do if im caring for the baby but have a little time to squeeze something in, and if its checking an auction house for a few minutes or dilly dallying on some new area... yeah, Perhaps it was best to not make a topic like this, It's making me look like a poor father but I didn't mean to come off like that.

I know that sounds silly, but my lady is having a kid and i'm probably going to have to drop a lot of games but i'm looking for something I can do to where i could stop for a moment if i had to, i guess getting into warhammer is out of the question, too much pvp attention and if i stopped i'd make my team lose XD, so it'd have to be a PVE game. iw as thinking EQ2. I played it a bit and enjoyed it.

I just stated today. I'm only rank 5 now and when the Scenario bumped me to 8 I wasn't really helping anything because I don't really have any abilities. What rank should I start seing some Class specific abilities that can really turn the tide in battle with my aid?

Also if anyone has advice on how to level faster, PVE or just constantly do Scenarios?

After reading many posts I'm starting the download now. Many of you seem very positive and helpful and it will reflect the attitudes of the people I will meet in game. I think one of the most important things in MMORPG's is Community and you guys seem extremely helpful and mature.

I stopped playing about 7 or 8 months before Chains Promethia(sp?) came out. It's been so long. The reason why I quit was because WoW had come out and after that game finally started showing up on the shelves at the stores I got it and converted to it. I did play WoW for 3 years but I realize a few things that I completely miss out on. Grouping and hardships. Grouping was so good in EQ1(my first mmo) and the reason why is because your playing in a massive world with other players for a reason right? To interact with them. I've played FFXI for a year or so and I know what the game is all about, i just want to know what exactly has changed since the time I have played.  The furthest I got was level 46/23 as a Paladin/Warrior. Is this game worth coming back to?

I've played around 10 MMO's and I have to say I thought FFXI had the overall best graphics i've seen. Not glitchy, very very polished and more realistic than WoW. People don't give WoW's graphics enough credit, while cartoony they are pretty good especially for what hardware is required to run them.

I had started playing this alone for two months and loved it but didn't like that I had no friends to play with. They were all still playing WoW. I'm playing WoW now but not very satisfied. I've played WoW for 3 years now and kind of yawn most of the time I play. About half a year ago one of my buddys stopped playing WoW and started EQ2. I played a bit with him and I thought it was great.

I stopped playing though because I felt inside that I would waste many many years on this game like I did EQ1 and was afraid to progress in the game for some reason.. I'm thinking of coming back and giving it another shot i'm just good at changing my mind, quite frequently. Hehe.. WoW just doesn't seem worth it anymore though.. I'm done playing that game whether or not I try to pick this up. Oh, and I tried Eve Online, ugh.. Not my type of game. I wonder how FFXI is nowadays...

Ok. I figure this game can't be that difficult. I've played a handful of MMO's and have years of experience in different RPG's. But not SCI-FI.. Hehehe...

My character: Gallente Indari Special Forces with lots of + in drones.

Ok, so I Start the Tutorial and get through that which only took like 45 mins? I started to do missions from this guy that the tutorial guy told me to talk to. The guy told me to get some marines that were in some cargo hold in some spaceship. I head to the destination and get nearly killed about 5 times from multiple enemies. I figured out what was wrong and it was me not having a Shield Booster. I got my shield booster. Sent out my two little Warrior 1 drones and started fighting. I got them all killed but no sign of any  marines im supposed to loot? Nowhere to be found.. I had to abort mission after an hour of searching.

So hes upset and I get a new mission from him. He wants me to go fight off some pirates that are making it hard for people to go from this one area, to the other. He tells me to kill the Captain so that the attacks and disruption will stop. I managed to lose my two warrior drones in a previous mission so I got a new one called a Hammerhead. He took up 10/10 space for my drones but he is a beast! I went over there and He was taking lots of those pirates out. I purchased a new blaster myself and started seing huge improvements in damage. After about 25 of the spys and scouts are dead and some little control tower.. no sign of any Captain. I fight a little more and some Higher class pirates come out and start destroying me. I didn't have time to warp out and I died.

So thats about it. If you were bored enough to read this you can see that 1) I fail at this game. or 2) IT REALLY does have a steep learning curve and I need hours+ to get the hang of it. or 3) All of the above.

I just wanna complete a few missions and get a new ship and lots of ISK like everyone in the rookie channel said was supposed to happen ;_;. But completing the objectives in these missions seems like they don't exist.

Okay. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at both those links and see what I can come up with. I'm hoping this will replace my boredom that i've had for the past few weeks.

I just got a 21-day trial off Steam instead of the regular 14 day one so i'm pretty excited. I am leaning torwards Gallente but I'm not sure what to pick. Jin - Mei seem cool. I was thinking of being something around the Engineer class but in all honesty I just want to be useful in a Corp so I can make many friends in the game.

Well.. I played it once about 2 years ago and it was very confusing, I played for a few days and stopped because I thought the idea of getting abilities while your offline favors veterans too much and gives just about anyone whos already been playing a big advantage over new people?

I have past experience with many MMO's but no sandbox type MMO's. I've played about 8 years worth of MMO's including EQ1, EQ2, WoW, DAOC, FFXI, AO, AC,CoH, LOTR:O and a few small free ones. I'm playing WoW right now with a few friends from work but its getting dull. Being level 70 and seing the same everything over and over.. it's getting old. I can see the same thing happening with the expansion as soon as people cap levels again.  I'm almost considering EQ2. that seemed to be a really good game when I was playing it. I stopped because I started taking many classes for my GED.. But now that i'm done... Hmm.

My girlfriend is going to start playing WoW, and everyone knows how awesome it is to get a girl playing a video game like this, so I already have a normal guest pass for the original game but she wants to make a blood elf so we need the expansion buddy key. Can anyone spare one if they just have it laying around collecting dust? Many thanks :D
