Now MMORPG.com will have to make two channel for SWG vets; one for pre-NGE and one for Post-NGE.  When the game is official gone, some of the post-NGE vets will get an idea of what the pre-NGE vets were going through.

In my opinion, the pre and post NGE games were two different games. Even if I enjoyed the post-NGE, I missed the pre-NGE more.

RIP SWG both games.

If they take away the price, I think most of the vets should come back for the end. A lot of us were there at the beginning and it would be nice to get together again and talk to some old friend who have not seen in the game since they made the change. It might not be our game that we paid for those many years ago, but it would be nice to get that old community together again, one last time.

I agree with Vyeth, the best use for light tanks is to locate the enemy for your teammates and let them destroy them. Use the speed of the tank and cover to avoid getting destroyed in the process.

Good write-up.  I am playing the game at launch and it is as fun as I expected, but so was WAR, AION, Star Trek, and many others that put a lot in the lower levels at launch and planned to put more higher level content in later, but alot of players left the game instead of waiting for the content to be added. The new games released games have to realize how quickly today's MMO players will reach the high level content. Some of your more dedicated players will reach that content for this game by next week if not sooner and what they say about it will be the difference with a lot of players staying with or buying the game. Hopefully, there will be enough to keep playing without meeting the deadend wall and just waiting a month for the next new content. I have my fingers crossed.

At least some of you were able to participate, I crashed everytime I logged on. I could never get close to the event before the game would freeze. I would say it was the worst end-of-beta-event for me, but since I never got a chance to participate, I will say it was the worst time I ever spent trying to get into an end-of-beta-event.

I will wait to see how the game is during Open Beta before I make the decision whether to go with it or not.  It is fun now, but need more before I would pay monthly to play it.

I wonder if there will be a need for the transfer in a month. A lot of the people that buy the games when they first come out, play the first month, and then never subscribe will be gone and some will have reached end game and start playing at a more casual level. Both should drop the queue time. People that are paying for the game need a fix now, not a month from now when there might not be a need.

This probably not related, but my performance problems were with my router. No matter how my I tweaked the game it was still bad, until I switched from my Linksys router and have not have a problem since, even at max settings.

This is already posted somewhere on these forum, but it makes me laugh.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLf1sABR4Ko&feature=related

I have no problem with needing a key for Open Beta, but they should spread the key giving to multiple sites. They should have give a few thousand keys to MMORPG.com and other free MMO sites, but having to be a paying member of one specific site seems wrong to me.

I think that is what those sites did with the key in order to get more subscriber.  I don't think NCsoft intended it to be used that way for OBT.  I mean even for CBT they many sites keys to be distributed, some gave them out freely while others have contest, and then there are sites that make you subscribe.

I suppose there is no real way to enforce how a middleman decide to use those keys.

I am sure that the keys still belong to NCSoft. I would imagine that requiring a paid subscription to another company (site), in order to even have a chance to get a key, would require permission from NCSoft.

I'm buying the game anyway, but I have to agree with the OP to a degree. I understand the need to have keys, but to not have any on a first come, first serve basis for an OB seems a little strange. Especially from a company the size of NCSoft.

Just my virtual $0.02

I agree and I am sure that Fileplanet paid for the rights to be the primary source for Aion's OB keys and did it to increase their amount of paid customers.

what happened to the other free aion give away?

Indeed, I was wondering the same thing.

http://www.mmorpg.com/contests/aion_promo.cfm the other one is over and the winners have been selected

I did it just for the wings, the other things are OK, but it is one less thing I have to worry about saving up my K for.

They will make an official announcement sometime this week, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks for the review. It gives me something to compare my upcoming open beta experience with. If I ever get this game downloaded.

To me the wings alone is worth the 10 bucks. Especially since every character on your account gets them.  If you max out on the number of characters you can create, you will save a lot of K. The other things are nice to have too.

I loved this game. They just needed to make some changes to the PVP and it would have been great, but it was way too good to cancel.

I agree with deggilator. The reason the "old system" was better for me is because it was the system that I paid to play. I did not willingly pay to the NGE. No matter what faults it had, I paid my money to play it and knew what I was paying for.

I do not see it working. Why would anyone walk around with a bounty on their head when they could just have their friend kill them and collect the bounty and the item. And if there are still people with more than one account they could just have their other character kill them. It would be an easy way to make money, kill someone and collect the bounty they put on you.
