I wonder if there will be a need for the transfer in a month. A lot of the people that buy the games when they first come out, play the first month, and then never subscribe will be gone and some will have reached end game and start playing at a more casual level. Both should drop the queue time. People that are paying for the game need a fix now, not a month from now when there might not be a need.

This probably not related, but my performance problems were with my router. No matter how my I tweaked the game it was still bad, until I switched from my Linksys router and have not have a problem since, even at max settings.

This is already posted somewhere on these forum, but it makes me laugh.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLf1sABR4Ko&feature=related

I have no problem with needing a key for Open Beta, but they should spread the key giving to multiple sites. They should have give a few thousand keys to MMORPG.com and other free MMO sites, but having to be a paying member of one specific site seems wrong to me.

I think that is what those sites did with the key in order to get more subscriber.  I don't think NCsoft intended it to be used that way for OBT.  I mean even for CBT they many sites keys to be distributed, some gave them out freely while others have contest, and then there are sites that make you subscribe.

I suppose there is no real way to enforce how a middleman decide to use those keys.

I am sure that the keys still belong to NCSoft. I would imagine that requiring a paid subscription to another company (site), in order to even have a chance to get a key, would require permission from NCSoft.

I'm buying the game anyway, but I have to agree with the OP to a degree. I understand the need to have keys, but to not have any on a first come, first serve basis for an OB seems a little strange. Especially from a company the size of NCSoft.

Just my virtual $0.02

I agree and I am sure that Fileplanet paid for the rights to be the primary source for Aion's OB keys and did it to increase their amount of paid customers.

what happened to the other free aion give away?

Indeed, I was wondering the same thing.

http://www.mmorpg.com/contests/aion_promo.cfm the other one is over and the winners have been selected

I did it just for the wings, the other things are OK, but it is one less thing I have to worry about saving up my K for.

They will make an official announcement sometime this week, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks for the review. It gives me something to compare my upcoming open beta experience with. If I ever get this game downloaded.

To me the wings alone is worth the 10 bucks. Especially since every character on your account gets them.  If you max out on the number of characters you can create, you will save a lot of K. The other things are nice to have too.

I loved this game. They just needed to make some changes to the PVP and it would have been great, but it was way too good to cancel.

I agree with deggilator. The reason the "old system" was better for me is because it was the system that I paid to play. I did not willingly pay to the NGE. No matter what faults it had, I paid my money to play it and knew what I was paying for.

I do not see it working. Why would anyone walk around with a bounty on their head when they could just have their friend kill them and collect the bounty and the item. And if there are still people with more than one account they could just have their other character kill them. It would be an easy way to make money, kill someone and collect the bounty they put on you.

They just put the site to create your account today, but I do not think that you can add your Beta access pass yet.

Nicely done, Thanks.

I agree with everything Egoe said, but I do believe the game will survive on the console with marginal success. I think that SWG will become a console only in the long run. I feel sorry for the new people that are buying the game now and will become the disappointed vets in the future.

I tried playing the game after the enhancements for a few days and I just cannot do it. If you never played the game before or did not put a lot of time and energy in the game, you might like it. It is not really that bad.

There are a lot of better MMORPGs out there and the only reason I stayed with the game was because of the friends I had and the 2 years I put into the game making my characters the way I wanted them to be. This change has taken all the time and effort I put into the game and threw it into my face. I do not want to start a new game with armor that I spent months earning and now I cannot use or weapons that I cannot use. The CU caused me enough headaches but it did not change the makeup of my character. If my friends would have stayed with the game like they did with the CU. I might be willing to start from scratch just to hang with my friends. Since all of them are jumping ship, there is no reason for me to stay. Like I stated before, there are a lot of better games on the market.

I am not mad at SONY, I am mad at myself. The writing was on the wall but I did not see it and continued to put 100s of hours into a game for no reason.

I played both and I reallly liked CoH but my friends play Wow so that is the game I am playing now. MMORPG can be fun soloing, but if you play with friends its a whole different experience. My advise would be to play the game that you have the most friends that play around the same time frame as you.

I got the plague too, but the druid in our group cure us with the cure noxious spell. The only problem is that I keep getting it as soon as I stop to talk with anyone.

Thanks for the guide, I really needed it. :)
