*gets out a bag of popcorn to see how many people come to kill tr289 for AoC bashing* seriously lets not bash other games here especially ones that are fundamently designed for a different game style than WAR. Its getting old at this point.
*sits back knowing someone is bound to show up with their flaming sword of kill* |

I do understand where your concerns are coming from but at the same time you have to take into account the design of the game along with the podcasts & other information thats available. I guess maybe for me its easier to understand the design & server needs etc since I deal with stuff like that on a daily basis. With today's technology there's really very few reasons to zone off / instance off areas unless your dealing with extreme amounts of data. AoC is definitly dealing with extreme amounts of data not to mention seemingly bad server code. WAR still has alot of data atleast from what I can gather from the design needs but its got limitations like Racial Pairings etc to limit how much it really needs to process. Plus they are sitting ontop of a MAE which pretty much bypasses over half the travel distance of the data.
btw sunder im guessing it was a compliment? lol :) my painkillers slow me down alot totally sucks |

It won't be the same...and the dev's mentioned that the areas get 'bigger' the higher the Tier. AoC has smaller & larger zones along with Clone'd instances of each zone if they get full. WAR is not implementing this and techincally there's far fewer 'zones' as well each Tier is essentially a single Zone that contains both Racial Pairings. The zones are filled up with Areas and the Zones are "open world" which they've stated numerous times. The Dev's have actually stated that the Tier's are infinately larger than any zone you'll find on WoW (the biggest being the Barrens I believe). So that pretty much covers All the Tiers. WAR's gameplay mechanics pretty much require the areas to be completely openw orld and not split off. AoC's on the other hand does not. There's no reason that the zones & areas can't be instanced in AoC nothing depends on those areas. WAR's gameplay mechanics rely on the control over the Tier..it'd be impossible to properly calculate Tier control if the areas were all split off and cloneable. Its really getting silly to continue to compare AoC & WAR their core designs are fundamentally different. It'd be like trying to compare UO to WoW or Lord of the Rings to DDO.
if im being incoherant I blame it on the pain killers for my back lol |

oh yea *notices the ESRB comments* adding smoking & drinking doesn't get you a mature rating even in the US unless its gratitious (as in happens alot and its required for certain necessary gameplay mechanics). It does get added to the list of warnings for Teen content though. I do think its funny when uppity parents think kids learn to smoke & drink from movies & games when they really learn it from hanging out with certain friends and being unable to think for themselves or they just don't care (rebelliousness). Hell when I was a teenager i only smoked a few times just to piss off my parents and they honestly didnt' care if i went somewhere and Drank as long as I called them and Told them first & i promised not to drive anywhere. It took the fun out of it ...so needless to say I never got into either activity for more than short periods lol. My parents had the give them some space to make decisions but if you mess up you get punished lol. |

Personal hype level 10 for me..especially after finally getting my hands on it.
Complaints about the art style & lowering the score seem ludacris if you ask me especially since changing the art style would mean its NOT Warhammer. Though I can understand minusing a point over it not being 40k if you prefer Gun / Frag fests over fantasy games....in the end the poll is completely subjective but thats what makes it fun yes? hehe |

So I was right in replying & quoting you my friend :) but since it seems to be just a grammatical typo its all good misunderstandings happen often on forums. |

The zealot and the Disciple of Khaine are Healers. If you want something close to the Warlock look at the Dark Elf Sorcerer & the Magus. They're both into dark twisted spells. |

On topic I think it'd be great for role players but I'm gathering from what the dev's say they're not to focus'd on the role playing part...Lord of the Rings is definitly going to remain top dog in that department its awsome the RPG stuff they have in. Hopefully if we're lucky someone can convince the WAR devs to give us more emote possiblities for RP. I suspect though they'd have to make different emotes for every race I hardly doubt I'd see chaos doing much else other than killing and playing with dead body parts. |

They do have a community leader and the Community Leader has nothing to do with what MMORPG.com has posted in its listenings. Thats a complaint you send to the Web Mods here. WAR Dev's almost never come here they all tend to hang out over at WarhammerAlliance.com |

I think its ludacris to compare a game geared towards Raiding & Hardcore Guilds against a Community / Co Op geared game like WAR. I'll be playing WAR but the subjectiveness of which game is better I won't comment on. I know what I like and what I'm look for and I've chosen the game thats offering the best choices for me. Nuff Said. |

Thats utterly ridiculous! Look like Dark Age of Camelot! Blasphemous and not to mention GW would of told Mythic to step the hell off. Your out of your ever loving mind. IF thats your only issue then your right there is nothing to counter idiocy. You keep waving the NDA around like its some blanket to cover all your SUBJECTIVE opinions. You may not like the art but most of us do. You may not like that its combat system as far as how you press the buttons is standard but most of us like beign able to jump into a game and not have to spend X Days figuring out how the hell simple mechanics work. When the NDA lifts I'll have plenty to say your not the only one who's in the Beta around here. Your just the only one whining over stupid things like the Art Style. Personally im tired of X billion threads on whining over the art style. Boo frigging Hoo. If the game is fun who the hell cares what it looks like. |

but yet your enjoying AoC Cabe thats whats hilarious... WoW - End Game Teir'd Raiding system (carrot) AoC - End Game Teir'd Raiding System (carrot) WoW - Seperate PvP System AoC - Seperate PvP System (granted they differ entirely once you get past the surface but still you can't start PvPing until a higher level and its an entirely seperate mechanic from the rest of the game) WoW - heavy guild needs AoC - heavy guild needs WAR - Ingrated PvE/ PvP progression system WAR - no Raid Progression WAR - guild & community needs The only thing that Sets AoC out from the pack is its arrow combo system it took from a single player game and its Guild Player Cities & Siege Keeps and some shallow Surface things oh and Graphics can't forget that. The funniest thing is ...its us as players that Define what path we take to progress many get pissed at the carrot and ignore the fact they dont even have to follow the carrot. Its the fact the carrot is there that they think they're obligated to only do what the carrot leads them too. WAR allows us to progress in any method we want but people will always whine about the fact there are Carrot Quests for people who LIKE to adventure through quests. If you dont want to do the things that remind you of WoW try doing something else like roaming on your own or only playing the RvR siege zones. |

it'll be nice when the NDA lifts and I can fully counter you Cabe...to be honest I dont see why your whining. The games are made for different people. AoC has launched and its for hardcore / elites that thought WoW wasn't hard enough (it compares to wow so much more than WAR which cracks me up that you like it more than WAR). WAR has not launched your only getting peices of the game at a time. Your choosing which path to progress through unlike AoC where you have to PvE only to progress. If your unhappy with the PvE progression just PvP progress for pete's frigging sake. But to each their own Cabe. Play AoC and enjoy the Teir'd Raiding system when its fixed and the Guild Only Sieging when its finally turned on. I'll be enjoying the community based activites & solo activites of WAR.
yea it is pretty much ironic isn't it Mark? lol...and im not even sure who he's calling me a fanboi of..if its of AoC I think I threw up in my mouth a little. The guy is obviously a noob. |

Originally posted by Black_Elvis Hey I never said Funcom's customer service worked and im not insulting AoC so I don't see why Your calling names here. Infact AoC has End Game Raids even if they are broken, it has tons of FFA PvP although a few GMs went over board and they were punished according to the forums. There is more Freedom since you get to build player cities. WAR does not have an End Game Tiered Raiding System it has one single raid per race thast open to everyone. WAR does not have FFA PvP and it doesn't allow you to build your own city. AoC is a game that caters to the more 'elite' player and there's nothing wrong with that. There's very FEW games that do. Infact if Funcom can pull their crap together those people will stay with AoC and not complain about WAR's offerings when it releases. Personally I'm not into any of those things so I'm quite happy to eagerly await WAR. If saying another game is good for a particular set of players is fanboism against or for a game then you must be out of your mind. You can Step off Black Elvis because your nucking futs. |
