Start with learning C++.  .Net Programming is related to the compiler.  If you dont have Microsoft Visual Studio .Net you really can't do C++ .Net. (atleast i dont think you can!)   There's really not that big a difference, its essentially the same language, just more enhanced if you use .Net

Once you learn C++ look into scripting languages, graphics programming, ai programming, etc etc.  

Know your Data Structures!  A really good C++ book will talk just a little bit about Data Structures like Link Lists, Queues, and Stacks. 

Dont skip a head into graphics programming if you dont know any C++ programming you wont have a clue what its talking about.

Can't even post on the forum boards because the "login server is down" lol yet..oddly enough ONLY 3 people other than the GM's are able to log into the forums.  Cause the boards are seriously seriously quiet for the amount of down time over login issues.

Well I wouldn't go as far as calling them dumbasses.  The problem is they can't treat a MMO like they would a regular game which until now was all they had made.  Regular PC Games, which of course were awsome.  Customer service wise on the website they treat it like any other game which leaves them open for alot of ass kickings by crazed addicts.

Well Im not leaving EQ2 and I'm not leaving WoW yet but this seriously destroys what building confidence I had started to build up.  I'd say they just need to redo the log in servers and give us a new patcher instead of bit torrent.  But..creating a better login system could be even more disasterious!!

*sighs* omg im really tired of seeing these posts, they just lead to wow vs eq2 flame wars.  If you know what each game offers go for the one that offers you what you want or play both and just cancel your subscription if you dislike another.  Or hell just read the actual game forums. 

But here's a short and NOT comprehensive in anyway reason to play or not to play.

If you want PVP dont play this game.  Its not even in the works period no matter what a pvp playing dreamer says.

If you dont wanna group atleast half the time Dont play this game

If you don't wanna be part of a community as in buying and selling to players, or crafting dont play

If you want to lvl fast dont play this game

If you want alot of content everywhere, hidden in loot hidden on npc's play this game

If you like to group play the game

If you wanna be part of a guild play the game

If you want a con system that keeps high lvl players from camping low lvl mobs play this game

If you want a different graphical setting play this game

If you want a game that's login servers always work play this game

If you want a game that doesnt' use that horrible bit torrent patcher play this game

If you want costumer service on the boards that keeps you updated on why there was a massive shut down in the game.  And even attempts to update you atleast once every hour or two hours play this game.

If you want a game thats trying to fix bugs before putting in new content.  Play this game.

  I play both games.  I play one cause i can solo alot and the other because I just love the world of everquest as a whole and I really hate PvP.   Neither game has anything completely over another.  They'r eboth great, they offer something different to keep you from being board or stuck in a rut.  They have large worlds, although I hear WoW's is bigger (hasn't travelled to far away yet).

Im not going to try and force your hand by going play this game because.  I mean your an adult, I think you can make your own assumptions by playing the game.  No matter what anyone here including myself tells you will really show you what the game has to offer, but I can tell you this its completely DIFFERENT from Wow.  I mean..drastically different.

You know its pretty sad when a great company's community posters are horribly inconsistant!!  You boot the game up and it says all servers are down.  You boot the game up later and it says we're aware of login issues.  You go to the website to the forum boards and a Blizzard person says All Servers up.  You check Realm Status and it either says their all up or half are down. 

Then you try to login to post on the website and it says the one thing..that explains it all.  THE LOGIN SERVER IS DOWN!!! 

Normally i'd be like Ok its just a new game a few kinks are gonna happen.  But see I already went through the 3 days of being gameless with EQ2.  But they never once were inconsistant with themselves other than one bad post from Smed which was corrected later. 

Im not gonna go comparing games, but they are games.  but I will compare customer service.  And Blizzard's is the worse!! They need to be atleast semi consistant!! You can't tell everyone ALL servers are up if the one MOST important Server of ALL IS NOT.  I mean if all servers are up and the Login Server is down then...isn't that a a Down Server!!

*rant rant* I Mean...I can understand downtimes are gonna happen but its frustrating when they tell you its all good and its NOT

Im defending sony for the pure fact I know what its like to be in their position when your software suddenly stops working.  It took my team a day and a half to get all the bugs back out in a rollback.

I'd much rather be playing the game, but im tired of hearing people cry after 12 hours.  Its the first time this has happened in the game.  If it starts happening frequenly then yea theres a clear reason to complain.

btw THEY ARE GIVING US REFUNDS ON MISSED TIME so ...shut up.

And since you missed the point to my post yea shut up again!! NONE of these posts are discussions of the down time its all crying boo hoo sony sucks blah blah.  If it becomes a discussion then ihave no problem with it.

No one Likes Down time.  Ashron's Call is a rather um..Lets just say there's a reason you can't buy much for that game? lol.

And yes SONY is giving us a refund on the hours we're missing in play its posted on the official news forums.

This is just for all the lifeless folks that have nothing better to do other than flame hard working people who have given up an insane amount of their time to try and get the Servers back up.

GO OUTSIDE!! GO TO THE MALL!! GO TO THE MOVIES!! GET OFF YOUR FAT ARSES!! And stop Bitching.  It happens, no one not even the devs could of expected this.  These people work insane hours all the time, they work and slave.  Working in the game industry is the hardest industry to work in, it burns programmers out in less than 5 years.  It can destroy or even make married living a nightmare, it can make even getting a girlfriend or a boyfriend incredibly hard.  Stop whining and live with the fact the servers are down and your getting a refund for the missed TIME. 

If you can' tget out of chair cause your glued to it then by all means keep eating junk food till you choke because nothing you do say or cry about is going ot make the game come back faster.  It is stressing I sat for hours myself playing another game in hopes EQ2 would come up but you dont see me crying because for 1 WHOLE night i couldn't play!

Anyway rant over, just tired of seeing desperate lifeless please moaning about a game.  Its an MMO its software, nothing is perfect.  Get Over It.

SOE is not incomptent and you can't have a back up plan for ever possible scenario.  Dealing with software myself I know the frustration of introducing something into your already running code and having it back fire even though test runs ran smoothly.  The fact Sony is Giving us refunds on the time we're missing and wiping all our XP debt which I know for some folks can be rather hefty, shows they aren't out to JUST eat our money.  Maybe the Production company is but the developers are not.

When designing software you always make a list of possible problems and solutions of how to handle them.  But you can't take into account for everything. 

If you think that you can please by all means go learn to program software, build a really huge HUGE HUGE like thousands of pages of code piece of software and tell me you figured out ahead of time everything that can go wrong.

And no im not a fanboi.  or a Fangirl. 

Wow ..hmm seems like an attempt to fire up the boards. You posted this one under the EQ2 boards as well.  Does no one read beta boards or beta reports? Does no one read Real reviews of games.  I mean..as much as I love the MMO community (well the good people anyway) I wouldn't trust their opinions mainly because they're seriously biased.   I know my own is.

Im just going to be short about this without really going into detail.

The information on the game has been available for a long time, the want and need for grouping, how quests work, there's NO pvp. ETC.  Look at the posts from Beta and if you dont see what you want from a game then dont play.  Alot of people stupidly buy things and play it and go OMG there's no pvp? What I have to group with people in a Massive Multiplayer Online game? what sort of concept is that?

I like the game, I've not lost interest.  Infact im excited about the big patch, if it doesnt' cause the mass down time that today's lil one did.  The game is new, and from the start there has been huge hype and alot of people talking smack.

You have to take into a account if someone dislikes the game even though they've never played it wont mean that they wont post negativethings about it and claim they played.  Go to the Everquest Forums and read the eactual posts from people who are currently active in the game.

Greedy SoB aren't you? Hey you get 4 slots for that 15 bucks and YOU DONT have to take any of the EQ2players additions thats all Extra crap you only need if you wanna look at a bunch of crap offline wise.

If you want the extra slots and you play other SOE games the Access Pass is a total bonus.  I play other SOE games including the original EQ game so I think it sall Fair to offer those of us that have been around for several of their games and still play several of their games some sort of benefit for putting up with and dealin gwith alot of BS from people who like to cry like you.

the Geforce MX cards are not supported. It even says that on the EQ 2 website.  You wont be able to run the game without a serious upgrade from the Geforce 2.

Dial  up i knwo people who play with it, the rest of yoru system should be able to handle it but the Card no, you'll never even push the log in screen without shader ability.

You need a computer thats not been invented yet.  I dont think anyone can actually run on the high quality performance settings without serious slide show movement.  Of course we all know that Extreme Quality doesn't work for anyone ever  in any form.   Just stick yourself on the Best Quality you can run at and your running about what most people are.

Please know what your talking about before you flap your gums Amatay.

Graphics programming can (for the time being) only go so much further.  BUT AI has a long way to go and alot of discoveries to be made and barriers to bust through.   The only thing with AI is it takes a more analytic mind to pull it off.   Im more of a game programmer / graphics programmer.  I either plug it all together and work on collisions & movent, or make things go boom myself. 

I think in the time to come more AI programmers are going to start flooding the field.   Scripting is ...well...everyone no matter if they AI or graphics should be learning to do.  Its incredibly important and saves on memory if its done right!! 

Its hiliarious how few of you read boards.  Its been known since the begining that PvP is not in any shape or form implemented in the game right now.   Im not trying to flame any of you, but it just BLOWS my mind.   I Mean..its kinda posted EVERYWHERE that there is No and will not be for the time being any PvP.

And the rest of you that are like Oh they need to work on that.  Um..keep dreaming!   The dev's have already said  that their only Development goals right now are MORE PvE content and PvE content only.   Its been nice to finally meet PvE players who are sick of being rampaged on by Pker's which most PvP players are(in my own experience most PvP players are nothing but Pkers).    Don't get me wrong  I think Dueling and guild wars are fun, but PvP in general sucks.  I for one am glad the Developers are now working on the PvE end of the game and ONLY concentrating on PvE.

Well sucks for EQ1 then, I admit the communities so far on EQ2 are so much more friendlier without all the lil PK jerks running around wacking you just to giggle.   Though the addition of Qeynos vs Freeport guild wars in the future when guilds are more powerful, would be kinda cool.  Right now peole are so spread out you rarely see Freeport people if your from Qeynos.

Um and btw this is the Everquest 2 boards what does that have to do with EQ1??
