Fun, but mob spawns lack realism
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/20/11 1:22:16 PM
So it sounds like maybe some of the other worlds are better in the open areas. That's good to hear. It isn't a deal breaker for me, but I expected more when I logged in for the first time. I don't mind static spawn points if after spawning the mobs roam. Almost all of them on my starter planet just sit there exactly where they spawned. The imperial base I went to at lvl 9 did have a few (pathed) roamers but not many. At least I'll have something to look forward to when I get to the other planets. |

Fun, but mob spawns lack realism
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/20/11 12:53:02 PM
Anyone else disappointed by the mob spawning? Static mob spawn points and not very many roaming/patrolling. I only played to lvl 10 so I can't say for other areas of the game but this was my biggest issue with the game. Don't get me wrong I had fun but it's lame that the mobs always spawn in the same spot over and over again and don't move around. Even mobs guarding something should move around a little bit. It didn't feel very realistic that imperial soldiers just sit there waiting to get blown away. Perhaps it's different later on in the game? Anyone have a different impression of the mob spawns? |

I want Diablo III to kill WoW. I know...not the same thing and fat chance, but I'm still pissed at Blizzard for dropping that IP for so long. I knew before WoW came out that WoW pretty much meant the end of Diablo. Back then they were a lot smaller so all the devs were working on WoW and Diablo was already collecting dust. Diablo II is over 10 years old and people still play. I'm happy they are coming out with a third installment, but I know they won't put forth the effort they give to their cash cow. |

EverQuest II: Extended: Things Change
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/06/10 7:40:22 PM
I won't try and invalidate any of the previous posts because I agree with a great deal of them, but for me as a casual EQ2 player who had to stop playing because of life schedule this is a great thing. I would have never come back to EQ2 at all if it wasn't for this so EQ2X is doing something right. I went ahead and picked up the silver membership. The fabled/legendary restrictions suck currently, but I'm hopeful they open up some of those items in time. Kinda lame I can spend a ton of time going through a heritage quest but can't even use the reward except to mount it in my home. I would imagine if they kept going the way things were the game would be dead soon. This opens up new doors and may keep the game thriving for years to come. Even with all the restrictions I'm happy to play it all instead of the game being dead. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Great Expectations

Wish you could have just saved us some time and told people to just read the last two paragraphs. Blah, blah, blah, don't like space combat, blah, blah. You stated in the article that you didn't want this one to be about space combat...but that was your whole argument. Lame |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Space Combat Confirmed

I'm glad to see this but I hope this doesn't take away from the rest of the games development. I would rather have a well polished game at the start and then see something like this added later. Hopefully that isn't the case here. |

Death must not be that important in this game as mobs just disappear after being blown up or fall over after being cut in half with a light saber. I don't know about you all but that really captures the essence of Star Wars for me... |

General: You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling

I agree that something needs to change but like others in this thread have already pointed out. Most of today's MMO players aren't going to accept the change. At least not right away. Most of the suggestions mentioned in this thread to make things better would cause major uproar and controversy. |

Though like others have pointed out it seems there are nebulas' everywhere so no shortage on reference points. Btw, not a virgin. My Star Trek nerdiness came from pre-marriage years. Ah the good ol' days when I could sit aorund all day and watch Star Trek. /tear |

I don't understand the green outline around him? It doesn't look like his glow and he should only be glowing when using his powers. The green outline makes him not look like part of the world. |

What's up with the free 2 week trial? I thought they were doing F2P zones or am I thinking of another game? Or is that just the EU version and not NA? |

The Chronicles of Spellborn: Exclusive Arena Screensots

It looks good, but I still think there's too much effects on everything. It takes away from the gameplay when your screen is filled with BS spell and attack effects. It's not necessary to show the fake white air everytime someone slashes their sword. Seems like they did this to distract people from the shortcomings of combat in general. |

I'm confused by some of the comments. The screens don't look anything like WoW cartoon. Are you refering to the backdrops? Like the rocks and stuff? The models in these screens are a lot more detailed then anything I've ever seen in WoW. |

The textures on the ships look like poo. No detail at all. The ships look like concept art. |

Star Trek Online: Early Impressions

The article mentioned in PvP being able to beam aboard other spacecraft and fighting. How exactly do you beam aboard another players ship if there is no interior? Are you only allowed to beam to certain areas like the bridge? That sucks. |

I know it's a stretch to picture it but imagine an MMORPG that had the rich story like Zelda. One where level wasn't really an objective. It's all about the hearts! I guess to bring this to an MMO would probably destroy all that is good in Zelda. Still would be neat to see a Twighlight Princess type of world where good are in the light world and evil are in the twilight. Then be able to use portals between the two. Oh well. ...okay so mayble not an MMO, but what about adding team play to Zelda! Now that's an idea. PS - Nice pic. |
