From whatI have seen so far, my main concern is that they are trying to change inovative system from GW1 and make it common RPG system in GW2.

I am talking about mana/hp regen. I am talking about character attributes and stats. That was main features of GW1 PvP and it was the best part of GW1.

Now you have BIG mana pool, regular stats like INT. STR, VIT, DEX and so on... On the top of that instead of limited number of skills in GW1 (=8 skills max), you now can have at least 15 skills and some professions even more ( Elementalist 25).Thats even more than in other MMOs (where u have unlimited skillbars). Now it will be about button mashing. Limits were main feature of GW1 and it brings a lot of tactic into game.

I am HUGE fan of GW1 and I cant wait for GW2, but my main concern is that ArenaNet is changing tactical core of GW1 into traditional MMORPG core (with some great features).

I know someone could say that we have even more tactical features like traits, weapons, skills, but for me it was limits that makes GW1 so challanging!

There's nothing tactical about having limited choices. That's the specialty of console games to be more controller retard friendly. Check out any d&d games or turn based games to witness that the less limits the more tactical the game gets. I do realize you are talking about mmorpgs so maybe check out AO and DDO.

All of you who say that it's just a game - why are you spending money on it? If it's so low on your totem pole in life, why do you shell out $25 for a pixel pony? I think you've got more of an attachment to this game than you'd actually admit.

Remember, your actions may not directly affect anything to begin with, but you're adversely affecting Blizzard's future choices of RMT by eating this up. Instead of Blizzard adding neat things to be obtainable in game, they'll likely just throw it in their item shop because it's been proven that you'll all buy.

Thanks for your blind willingness to tarnish the integrity of a game already weathered.

[Mod Edit]

Just curios why was this user banned for his post ? Did mmorpg mods turn into a nazi police or is it just being afraid of losing some of the  advertisment income.

Sorry for the off topic  it just got my attention when i was reading the thread and found the big sign under:

(USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)

Dont care how good the game is or isnt.  A guy who cheats on his wife shouldn't exactly get to have more games with him in them, thus sort of being a role model or whatever. I don't get why with that scandal anyone would even want to touch him with a 10 foot pole.

You're serious? Are you expecting that a globally recognised sporting icon somehow becomes less bankable when his face is splashed across the front pages of newspapers round the world as well as just the back.

If you bothered to pay any attention to the fallout after he was found out? Yes I'm serious. He lost a ton of sponsors over his infidelitiy. But then maybe your the kind of person not bothered by that. Yeah great idea, lets endorse a guy who cheated on his wife with not one woman, but multiple ones! That makes it look like you ethier approve of his actions or just don't care. Not a great idea.

Sounds like a successful male , score all the hotest babes around. What ? you wanted some loser who cant score to be a role model ? Get real.

Atlantica, Mabinogi, Runescape and Navy Field are better and more original than those on that list.  Anarchy & DDO were P2P that became F2P's.  Allods, RoM & Free Realm are just copycats of some successful P2P's.

Seriously, Bill, go play more F2P's before making a list.  Even HelloKitty online has more originality than those on your list.

QFT. I fully agree with what you said although id add spellborn and darkspace to that list too, its like Navy Field just with dreadnoughts instead of battelships

The company can bite you back occasionally if the interpretation of the features was within reason. Say you insisted you couldn't do something yet you could, just only to a extent. As long as they can argue its part true they win. In which case your hit with the false charge fee lol.

Incorrect. I work for a merchant service company. the card holder never is charged a "false" charge. They just lose the case. And, they can re-issue the same chargeback up to 3 times in 3 months. You're wrong. Never is the card holder held accountable, even when they lose. The merchant however (Cryptic in this case) will still be charged the chargeback assessment fee, even is they win.

That's the exact thing I was going to quote.  I read that and thought it was a really cool concept.  But now that it doesn't have that, it's lost some of my interest.  I may still try to help out in beta and see what needs to be done, but I was disappointed to learn that.

Me too , I thought it was such a cool concept and it made me so horny just at the thought of it. Thats a real shame you wont be able to play as a child , at least you can always play with the little daughter though. I heard they are going to release a collector edition with a pedobear for the most loyal fans of Aika.

Of course this will get deleted again by the paid off moderation , juts like all the other negative posts about Aika. they don't even have guts to replay with theirs names in those warning posts

So the fans of mmorpgs are worried it wont be another "fields of monsters" game with pointless storyline and boring quest grind ? Well theres planty of these around, let the rest of us finally have a game that's not a map filled with monsters and a kill x and y missions like all the primitive "true" mmorpgs.

If you think quests are a grind now just wait until each quest comes with 20 minutes of dialog to sit through. You won't just be killing those 10 womp-rats, you'll also have to listen to Jabo-One explain to you about a womp-rat's mating rituals for 15 minutes before you can even start. You'll be dying to get to that 'field of monsters' after sitting through a few hours of pressing '1' every 30 seconds to continue the dialog.

You know the reason behind why quests are a grind now ? No its not because they have a story , make sense , affect your environment or future choices, require your attention and their complexity goes beyond kill X rats. Speak for yourself , Ill definitely look forward to those 20 minutes of dialogs and storyline not the kill 10 rats part in a field of monsters. If all you are expecting from an mmorpg is to quickly hit "1" on quest selection screen and run off to kill those 10 rats then we have nothing to argue about, definitely different tastes.

Let me copy past the full list of preorder bonus just to be clear what do you get.

NX Prefix
This renowned ship registration prefix designates a special prototype vessel. Players can attach this prefix to the title of any of their ships.

Targ/Tribble
A Targ is a cosmetic pet for Klingon characters only that a player can summon and dismiss at will. The Tribble when summoned increases a Federation character’s healing rate, though it cannot be summoned during combat. A character will take out his Tribble and pet it.

Borg Bridge Officer
Each character created receives a reclaimed Borg Bridge Officer to assist him in space and on the ground. The Borg Bridge Officer possesses unique abilities not otherwise available to players. Bridge Officers can serve with the players for the entire game experience. These special Officers are not customizable.

Constitution Class Ship
Shortly after the tutorial, a player assumes command of a ship. A player can choose either a standard Miranda class or this exclusive, the Constitution class ship. Players fly around in a non-customizable replica of the TOS ship beloved for decades (the textures and components cannot be altered like other ships). Players control this ship for roughly 20 hours before being promoted into the next class of ship.

Skill Points
Each character created receives an additional 500 skill points at the beginning of gameplay. That’s a 38 percent increase over what players normally receive through the tutorial.

Joined Trill
At character creation, a player can select Trill as a race. This unlocks special exclusive traits that enhance the character’s abilities. Note that the special abilities are the only exclusive aspect; players are still able to create Trills in the game. However, they will lack the Trill abilities.

DS9 Costumes
Players can clothe their Federation characters in the uniforms made famous in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine TV series. Players can freely change the colors of the uniform.

TOS Costumes
Players can clothe their Federation characters in the uniforms made famous by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in the classic Star Trek: The Original Series. Players can freely change the colors of the uniform. Also note: The TOS costumes do include mini-skirts!

Chromodynamic Armor
This ground item goes into a character’s body armor slot. Based on technology brought back from the Delta Quadrant by U.S.S. Voyager, this personal body armor improves the damage and critical hits of a player’s ground energy weapons.

Multi-spatial Personal Shield
This ground item slots into a character’s shield slot. This advanced personal shield system is based on Borg technology and constantly regenerates itself and even a character’s health.

TR-116
A player equips this phaser rifle into one of his two ground weapon slots. The TR-116 is a rare projectile weapon is used in dampening fields and other challenging environments, it is also modified with a micro-transporter which beams the fired projectiles to targets at close range so that a user can fire without a direct line of sight.

Red Matter Capacitor
A unique item slotted into a ship device slot that charges up and delivers extra energy to all of your ship’s equipment for a short time. The Capacitor has a long recharge.

Automated Defense Battery
This ship item slots into the Tactical Console slot. Tactical Module that grants the ship a passive 360 arc attack power with a short range.

KKKHHHHAAAANNN Emote
Players will be able to do the famous Kirk Khan yell from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Bloodwine Toast Emote
This gesture is known throughout the galaxy as a hallmark of Klingon society.

The game will be just a paid beta after release with all the bugged content and even without the bugs the quality and content is closer to a guild wars type of game not an mmorpg. But since its cryptic we are getting a 50$+subscription+item mall. Thats so just like them. Speaking of the bugs a game where

- you spawn as a ship avatar on planets, stations and you cant move till the game figures out "oh wait you cant beam down as a ship avatar for ground combat or space station, oops daisy" after a minute

- away missions and just stations are so laggy and choppy its unplayable

-around 20-30% of the missions are bugged and those are just the missions of type go find 5 items, i mean wtf how hard is to not screw up these very simple and boring missions

-Game disconnects you every so often

-You get a "You cant login at this time" or "Login is not possible" or "Server is too busy" or 10 other messages when you try to login 20 times in a row , did i mention you get disconnected a lot already ?

is not even ready for open beta nor release. The game is so crappy they are already dishing out lifetime subs and preorders with some very heavy bonuses. The list of bonuses for preorder is so long i have to scroll down my screen while reading it. Well they know the game wont last a long time so better to squish out as much cash as you can in the shortest time.

You know, I think its kind of funny that with each new game that comes out the system specs continue to increase and increase, and some players... myself included, that have these aging computers will have to upgrade some things just to stay current,  yet the second someone says the word Console and MMO together, people throw a complete fit.

If more MMOs were created for one single type of system the developers would be able to optimize the game much better, so as not to have to guess if you're running a processor from 2005 or a video card just under specs.  They would know what everyone is running and players wouldn't really be able to complain about performance issues on a machine that can't handle it.

Just a thought.

specs go up as technology increases. years ago we were limited to 1D/2D games.

Name a single 1D game and I will say sorry!

Yeah, this has hit my eye too.... 1D is a line, nothing more :D

DB

Damn it is difficult. I know a dot game , you watch a dot blink.... just kidding.

Thats a great news.

An item shop during a closed beta , pretty desperate if i could say so , though it doesnt surprise me.

I am actually pissed about MMORPG.com "review" of the game because that is what made me go fork out 50 euro to try it just to find out that the game is just as it is described by Ed Zitron.

For example MMMORPG.com claims the gfx are average. In which world is that crappy, severly outdated gfx engine with horrible animations average in the year 2009?

Also the borky controls are not so much mentioned in the "reviews". Nor the crappy way that your backpack organises your stuff (in a clutter of icons). Also the horrible sound that hurt my ears are not mentioned either. I can go on but I think Ed Zitron pretty much describes what is wrong with this game.

QFT

The only two good choices , Tetris and Pacman online, were rejected. But seriously you cant turn a good crpg game into an mmorpg, itll just thumb it down and destroy it ,making another generic "fields of monsters" mmorpg game.
