Never been into the story ones, or the ones where you are THE hero, but you see 500 other people running around that are THE hero too...

I am good with old school grind and sandbox, over story.

I5-3570K/ASUS P8Z77-LK combo $290

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1270852

Corsair 500 W 80+ bronze ps $69.99 (plus 20 rebate, to make it 49.99 after rebate)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050

Rosewill Challenger case $49.99 ($10 mail in rebate also, had good reviews for price)

The HD and memory you chose $116

The second gfx card you chose was $199

So that comes to: 724.98 before rebates, and 694.98 after.

If you want to stretch it, and do 824.97 before, and 794.98 after you could upgrade to a
7950 gfx card, I know a lot of people on here are high on it being a good value for the price.

They have different ones, and one with 'boost' that is $10 more after rebate...So not much over your $750 but probably a lot better from what people say?

You're completely missing an OS and optical drive, and that will push you way over the stated $750 budget.

I was going with the assumption that they had it covered, since they didn't post it in the original.

I like to play all aspects of a mmo, so if I play it, I would probably have a crafter to go along with my main guy.  I just have to  decide if I am fine with no PvE....I fully understand why it has no pve, but as a person that likes to change up what I am doing and do harvest/crafting, pve, pvp, and such...I am still deciding, but like to see more info as they bring it out.

I hope EQN will get away from more instancing, and back to some more open world dungeons and such, I would be fine with even a 50/50 mix, just getting tired of all the instancing in mmos, making them more lobby based games than mmos....Some people love it, but if EQN is supposed to be more sandbox, I think this is a logical thing, to get away from making it over instanced.  I would be fine with them having AAs at launch even, and much slower leveling than their is currently...No need to have hell levels again (2x xp to get through), but I wouldn't cry if they did, but it would probably be more limiting than they want to be.

It will not be long, in mmo terms, 3.5 months and we will be seeing something.

OK thanks for the watts information, I see around 600 for some of the higher cards recommended, and thats 2GB models, so I didn't want to be right at minimum, since they supposedly lose output as they age a little.

My wifes computer is going out, not sure if it is her power supply or what, but her computer was bought right before Vanguard came out, so it is decently older and served her well.  She didn't want to have me build her computer, she gets bad flashbacks of my working on things that don't work right and me not having the most patience in the world.  I am great about working on other peoples stuff, but when it is mine, I do have a short fuse at times...  So I stopped trying to convience her that I was just going to order 2x the parts and put two computers together.  The people I got her computer from didn't have the 7970 (thinks thats the 3gb one, they screw me up a little with their numbers), but they had a 2gb 670, and a 4 gb 680, it was I think $120 difference and she wanted the better card...  So I gave in, and ordered the prebuilt for her, had a $250 gift card for the site.  You don't always win the battle in the household hehe.  I figure at worst, I may have to replace the power supply, if the one that comes with the prebuilt is garbage, since it was not selectable.

I got a HAF 912 case, 240 GB SSD , I5-3570 K, ASUS P8Z77-LK MB, ASUS GTX 680 4GB, Samsung 24x CD/DVD, 16 GB 1333 memory, Win 8 64 bit for  $1471 with tax/delivery, plus $250 off with the gift card thats been sitting around....

I just have to wait till I get a estimate back on our new garage door, and make sure their are no suprise extra costs, once that money is clear, I should be able to order my parts...Getting a new garage and front door put in, and my computer is still working ok, so my computer was obviously the last priority.

I should be able to save a little though, if I go with a good 650 ps, and do decide on the 6970 ghz edition, and maybe even a cheaper SSD, do you have some suggestions of something that is comparible?  I was discounting anything that did not rate 500 read and write on the ratings, but you say that is not as important, due to speed not being as noticable.  I also heard the 6970 was loud and ran hot, is that rubbish also?

I would just like it if they actually got rid of people that cheated, too often it seems like they do not want to lose the money from the individual and do nothing, atleast until they do something over the top.

Nothing kills my interest in a game, like people cheating/hacking and duping all over the place.

Thank you for the input, I was worried about being too close to the 'required' speciification on the video card, So I was looking at like 700+, but I guess I am not running too much else, so a quality 650 would probably do.

The Nvidea, I know they use to be slower with drivers, but that was a long time ago, probably been 5-6 years since I have owned a ATI card.  So it had stuck in my head, fair or not, to go with Nvidea.  Also, 3 GB would be plenty, and no need for 6.  I looked at a comparisson between the two video cards and they seem to be pretty comparible, with the 7970 (think that was the number) edging it out a little in some areas, but their was a lot of back and forth...Then you factor the price, and it seems to be clearly a better buy....My wifes computer is going to have a GTX 680 when she gets it, so I wonder if that is worth being a tie breaker also, so if their are any problems, I learn how to fix it, and I only have to deal with one type of card, or if that is silly to even consider that?

I do not use a ton of hard drive space, think I am under 300 GB used on my drive now, and I have tons of stuff I could delete and never miss (old games I no longer play and such).

I went with the Samsung 840 Pro, because I read a lot of good reviews, and it seemed like a good idea to have a nice quality SSD, if I am using it as my only drive.  If I do come across the need for more storage, I may get a external drive, and fairy it between my computer and my wifes, as she will also have the same drive setup.

Someone mentioned the price on Amazon, everything was equal or lower, except the motherboard and CPU combo on newegg was much cheaper.  I also live about 20 minutes away from a Microcenter (maybe 15 mins...).  They have tax though, so while their combo was a little cheaper with tax, it was like under $10, then you add the drive/gas/time, it isn't as attractive.  I will have to price some of their other parts though, if they have some better prices on things, then it starts to make more sense.

I will have to look up some information on Amazon, I could see them being even more lenient on returns maybe, due to them having a broader business, where Newegg seems to have a lot of disclaimers on different types of parts.

If you see anything out of place, I would appriciate you telling me.  I have been looking for a while, and I want to try to put it together myself.  Haven't done it yet, always bought them together.  Also, I was thinking of getting a lot of it from Amazon, they have the same prices basically as Newegg, except for like the cpu/mb combos.  Has anyone bought stuff from Amazon and had a problem returning it and such?  The reason being, I can get probably about $80 worth of free gas, if I buy gift cards for Amazon at Giant Eagle!

Samsung standard DVD drive, $18

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151256

COOLER MASTER HAF 922 case $99 (+10 mail rebate, so $89, They were out of the Antec case I was looking at, probably one of the most undecided items I have looked at).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-119-197&Tpk=11-119-197

Intel Core i5-3570K and ASUS P8Z77-V LK combo $290 ($55 savings due to combo, and $15 mail rebate)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1270852

G Skill ripjaw 2x 8 GB memory DDR1333 $107 (should I get different/faster memory?)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231486

Corsair HX750 750 W 80+ gold $130 ($10 mail rebate)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010

Samsung 840 pro 256 GB SSD $220

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147193

EVGA GTX 680 4GB FTW w/ backplate $570 (no need for 4GB now, but not a huge price difference from 2GB, if I do maybe need it in a year or 2 was the thinking)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130794

Last but not least, the beloved Windows 8 64 bit $100

Total $1534, with $35 mail in rebates and all free shipping, so $1500.

Prices are all the same, or a little cheaper on Amazon, minus the combo, and I do live near a microcenter and can save a couple bucks, but once you add taxes and gas, its about the same so probably not worth the 20 minute drive each way.

Thanks in advance for any input.  I have a keyboard/mouse and monitor btw.  I usually play in 1920 x 1080 on mmos also, which I know usually isn't demanding on video memory, but figure some games now can get close to pushing or using the 2GB it seems.

we don't know.  If games can't gain in numbers of players or replace those quiting a game, eventually a game will run out of players. Nothing to worry about.

but without sufficient population the game will be unplayable correct?

not like other mmo where I can do lots of single player stuff when no one is online?

Quick answer....If their are no other people to fight, then the game would be closed....CU will not have people not wanting to engage in PvP/RvR, as thats what the game is offering, so you will not have open RvR/PvP, where people only decide to do scenarios and pve, they will not have those options.

So if no one is around to fight, most likely, the game is done, and if it got to that point, you wouldn't be able to log in to fret about it.

Hmm i can understand your point of view, but what could be changed ? Do you need some graphic´s / visuals to get energized ? I don´t understand how your "tried so hard" is working. It sound´s like you like the idea´s like hell but you need some visual´s for, jeah for what ? What does any visualized sketch from a "project on KS" change ? I think the idea is what´s count, when looking at a KS kampagne. (looking at a KS kampagne is something totally different and new)

For me a KS project is build of idea / motivation and some artwork´s that show how it does evtl. look like in the end.

I agree, take DobleFine Adventure, they had NOTHING at all. But the way they presented themselves and their ideas and concepts even without screenshots or anything got  me excited.

Nothing got me excited so far for CU other than the promise of an old school RvR focused game that breaks the monotony of bad releases and endless stream of shit that is produced these days.

However, the campaign does nto get me excited and looking at the raw numbers, i am not the only one. It's a campaign, you need to somehow get people excited for this, not only the hardcore fans that reminiscent about the goold old DAoC days.

I am not against the game or what he tries to pitch, but it does not get me all wound up ready to throw $350+ at it. Anything at the lower backing levels is nonsense because then i can wait until release, if i still have to pay monthly for this game, that might be very outdated in 3 (more realistically 5) years from now.

I am not a backer, but I think the $350 is off the mark.

$25 - Beta 3 (eta Sept 2015)

$30 - Beta 2 (eta June 2015)

$50 - Beta 1 (eta Feb 2015)

$110 - Alpha (eta Aug 2014)

$180 - Internal Testing (eta Jan 2014)

The $350 gives you Alpha access, packages are different, some may not like certain ones and such, also some of the tiers I quoted are sold out, but they did offer them.  I am on the fence for no pve, so I need to know more about the crafting, as doing only the same type of thing in a mmo bores me...So I would like atleast 2 aspects that I like and are worked out in a manner I like.  It is too early for me to know what I need to know, so I probably won't be backing.

I entered, I got a beta code, but had things come up, and I could not try it out, so I gotta win, or wait on a free trial, can't get myself to blindly buy this title, without trying it.

I do not think using a mmo that was designed to be made p2p, regardless of market, is a good example of f2p producing quality.  A much better example would be one that is designed to be f2p, and not b2p, from concept.

I am sure their are some good ones, but regardless of the pay model, I think their has been a lot of trash flooding the market, people play them 1-2 weeks/months (if that), and then jump to the next game.

Also, some f2p cash shops are not bad, but some give me the creeps, it is like someone is always trying to grab my wallet, and you are reminded constantly, while you play...It is annoying, I would rather pay a sub, than deal with the over zealous money grab that some games have.  P2P has not been doing themselves a lot of favors either, a lot of them are trying to double dip, they tend to stay more cosmetic on average, but it is still kind of slimey.

I think the problem arises when people try to say what they want in a mmo, and then people bring up something that is far from what they were talking about.

WoW is not the same game as LoL, to compare them doesn't work well, but if you call both a mmo, then debate what should and shouldn't be in a mmo, thats where people get into the definition.

When you debate something, you need to atleast have something roughly equal, and too often, that doesn't happen.  I mean where does it end?  Is 2 player pong a MMO?

Instances are fine for lobby games, but real mmos that are massive, over doing it kills the feel.  Makes them play more like lobby games, instead of mmos.

I would need to see more, I like crafting, I liked DAoC, but I also like to PvE...So without the PvE, I would like to know more about how the resource gathering would work, and if the systems will be deep, etc...

I like the harvesting type systems in Vanguard, where you have common/rare/ultra rare resources, customization of crafting, etc....

I just need a better picture, and they probably can't provide it till after the kickstarter is done, so I probably will not be a backer, but if I like what I see later, I may be a supporter/buyer.

Im really confused by some of the comments in this thread.  Where did he ever bash the F2P model?  And he certainly never said anything bad about its customers as a group.

All he did was point out that its the "new thing" and way too many game developers are just flocking to it as if the model has some sort of magical powers without bothering to evaluate whether its actually the best model for their game.

I suppose he also pointed out that F2P models lead to more compliants and bad behavior, but thats just common sense.  No cost of entry means more different people who have very different visions of what the game should be like.  If you have to pay, you'll only pay if you actually want what is already being offered.

What exactly is being seen as offensive?

Hey, stop it, they got their torches and pitch forks, don't try to talk sense into them.  Their reading comprehension has told them that he has said f2p will go away, is evil, and p2p is the only model that will survive!

BURN!

I am glad he got the money, hopefully it will be enough to get him where he wants to go.  It wasn't a ton, but he has a lot done already, from the look of things.

God I hope not.  Did everyone forget Vanguard?  If he's on the team, it had better no higher than a consultant.  Don't let that dude lead. Vanguard was proof that he couldn't lead ants to a pic-nic if he put the basket on top of the ant mound.

Thats why you use him, but don't put him in charge.  Vanguard had a lot of great ideas, but the coding was horrible.

I hope he is involved, but as I stated, with people in charge of him.
