General: A World Record for The Syndicate
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/01/10 6:23:09 PM
The Syndicate is useless. Who ever runs it is more of a PR person than a good leader as far as I'm concerned. Seriously anyone who mentions them like they're hot stuff or serious business seems like more of a ignorant moron in my eyes. Two major games they play are UO, props for that at least, and WoW, big surprise there. Like they play games just for the PR. Lets play an old school famous one to get the traditionalists to like us, and WoW for numbers of people. then they just list a bunch of MMO's someone who says their in the syndicate has played. |

Originally posted by Benjola No they won't. They just 'assume' they know what it means but you would be surprised how many people can't read roman numerals. Also lol at FF14 being the next APB, but a feeble troll attempt in the end. |

Also the "lots of people bad mohting it" line is bull shit. Want me to roll out a list of places where WoW gets shit on? The fact that its getting shit on in lots of places is better than like 10 people talking about it at all and w/e they say is generally bad. Best part in my mind is this game will do very well for years and tons of people who profess they know about video games will dumbfounded as to why. Probably won't realize its a sign of just how little they know unfortunately. |

I have been seeing a lot of "I bought FF14 blindly, invested in new PC/CE edition etc., and now I'm disappointed" Why don't people do ANY research when buying a video game? I guess it would be ok if you can easily spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on video games every month. Dumb consumers aren't going to get any help or sympathy from me though. Not talking about opinions on if a game is good or not either. Talking about if someone actually bothered to see if they would personally enjoy the product and use it before buying it. |

I got over all the EQ2X crap once I realized I wouldn't have wanted to play with people who would like the EQ2X system anyway. If you pay for a copy from the live servers, that character will have the same access it did on live for $15 a month. You can get access to the last 10 levels by simply buying sentinels fate expansion, which doesn't cost $200. |

Spoony Experiment.com : FFXIV VS. Guild Wars 2 PAX
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/19/10 3:34:01 PM
The guy is a hack. He didn't just review the demo he was passing judgement on the game completely. Off a single demo, he didn't even play. You can take a shit video of any game good or bad and make it look like a train wreck by playing it shitty. If he reviewed JUST the demo he would be right, unfortunately he didn't. He literally reviewed it on the worst case scenario. He is a non contributing zero. He shouldn't be allowed to talk about video games. I would know when he stops this shit without anyone even telling me, gamers the world over would just get a little spring in their step, inherently knowing this guy isn't mucking up the gaming community. On the GW2 side I'm EAGERLY awaiting that game as well maybe even more so than FF14. But again he ruins any enjoyment of the video or interview by being a huge, unfunny spaz. I bet he cut to GW2 footage so he could quickly suck the guy off. Someone needs to inform this guy shock value doesn't equal comedy and 'enthusiasm' doesn't equal talent. |

Any keys left over? Would love one at scardonicus@gmail.com I'll be sure to give the ones I get back. |

It will do fine. FF11 did fine and they have features in place where FF14 will have a broader appeal than FF11. Games will come and go while FF14 sticks around. |

Originally posted by Devalon Yes there is. Microtransactions for content, and stuff like 'episodes' for single player games. Expansions for MMO's, Tv episodes of a storyline obviously. Series of books, movies planned as trilogies or episodes.
The devs and fansites might be more subtle about it but i certainly don't have to. If you don't level up multiple classes and maybe even a crafter all at the same time and a even pace, your character will be shitty. If they removed the cap people would just bitch that now they only leveled up a gladiator with no other classes or crafting, can't adventure for shit and are constantly broke. |

Originally posted by popinjay lol no thanks. if anything that monster of a thread should be replaced by a post with this video and thread locked. More posts/pages a thread has the chance of it not being read in full goes down. |

Yes that is also an explanation, but I don't see this video anywhere on there. People tend to be more responsive to a video than a wall of text, plus it is very well done. |

Understanding the Differences in PC and Console Development
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/13/10 10:27:22 AM
Yep, low memory is a game developers nightmare, haunting coders and artists alike. They also have to deal with it on PC's, but to a lesser extent, to widen their audience through lower hardware requirements. I found it interesting the eastern audience weren't having problems with the UI like the west. Guess they went in knowing/accepting that a controller would be best. In the end FF14 is a console MMO that is on the PC, and oddly enough releasing on the PC first. |

I just don't see these glaring flaws people talk about, other complaints are subjective so only real base you have is 'most of the 20 people i talked to really really don't like xfeature'. Runs great on what I would call medium or slightly lower than medium settings. No server problems or connection problems. I don't mind the keyboard controls and I like that I can use a gamepad. I prefer they don't force feed quests and tutorials from the minute you log in. Seems like a classic 'RTFM' game to me. I don't mind the leveling restrictions since I don't play a video game as much or more than a paying job, plus I plan on multiclassing so my character won't be gimp. So what core problems are you referring to that are technical in nature? Because shit like how the UI works, leveling, class system, market system, are all design decisions and therefore aren't even viewed as needing to be 'fixed' If your looking for a miracle patch to fix shit you personally have a problem with but work as designed, you don't have a game problem you have an ego problem. |

DC Universe Online: The Lack of Crafting
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/09/10 4:07:19 PM
Comics get maybe a few panels, the movies get a quick montage, and its a one time thing that isn't repeated several times in the same story arc and for good reason. Its boring to do and boring to watch. Never liked crafting. Only time I dealt with it is when they randomly tied in stuff to adventuring that requires crafting. Games would shoe horn needs for crafting into adventuring so more people would even bother with it. I honestly hope this is a trend, where crafting is nuked all together or an extremely small amount of focus. It has a horrible fun/development time ratio in MMO's, development time better spent on stuff more people like. |

So, SE decided to release an unfinished game.
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/07/10 5:11:13 PM
lol at saying WoW was polished at release. That game was a fucking train wreck on release. As for FF14, they were holding back entire CITIES during closed beta that I never knew anything about until open beta. So its entirely possible another big jump will occur on release day, there is even a precedent for it as I have just mentioned. If you have problems with base mechanics of the game that is anotherthing entirely. Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't mean it's unfinished until you do like it. I've had nothing but good experiences from a technical standpoint. |

Originally posted by Wizardry No I don't. I only get full access to EQ2X with a live sub if I pony up the $35 for a character copy from live. Even then the removal of restrictions only applies to that particular character until I get a seperate EQ2X sub. |
