Had a post earlier about getting rid of my sli 8800 gt 512 in sli to a GTX card. The I decided maybe I would upgrade. Now Im running circles in my head cause its been about 2 years in October since I upgraded and Im clueless about what to buy.

for around 500 bucks what would be the best bang.

I would need to upgrade the

motherboard (AMD) preferably

processor

memory.

I would reuse using my hard drives and 650 antec true power psu.

I was told i should keep my 2 x 8800 gt 512 in sli and wait 3-4 months for the new 300's coming out.

Any help please.

so grab a gtx 285 or 295 and put it in my current system wont utilize 2.0 pci. im runin 1.1 or something which is half the bandwidth.

Im looking to upgrade my system. Im currently running 2 PNY 8800 GT cards in SLI mode. I have an Asus motherboard M2N-SLI DELUXE thats only pci express 16. Its not 2.0 which the video cards are. I run a amd 6400 x2 processor.
My question is would it be a better upgrade to a newer motherboard and cpu say like

I have one free character transfer. I believe I am on Wiccana. Is there a more populated server? Or what is the most populated server?

I want to play today so whats the fastest?  Should I just do a download of the client? Or since I havent played in along time, should I install off my disks than patch.

Is the download  client dx10 only or will my disk offer me the same option?

Everyone talking about how much the game has changed since launch. I just want to know one thing. Is my HoX still gonna be running around in the same robe and same sword graphic till theyre lvl 50

Or did they add more weapons and armour?

I cant seem to really remember if the graphics in this game are the same as they were when we first started. I know changes happened to the models but I just remember better graphics back in the begining.

Anyone got some screen shots or opinions?

Bought a new 640 mb western digital hard drive and went to install windows and notice that it only  recognized 592 gigs?

What gives? I mean 48 gigs gone? I can see 5 or 10 gone but 48???

Any help?

Alright then, where do I start. This thread is in no way flame the haters or lovers of this game. I simply and writing this to let people know what I experienced my first 8 hours.

Download client and install. Try to play game and lobby is not updated.  I log online find a cure and then do some more updates.

Once I am all ready to go, the game wont launch, it just sits there.  Damn firewall kicks on and I have to accept.

So I create a character (looks like you can only make one character right now, but dont quote me on this). The character race selection screen consists of some wolf like fellas, humans, dwarfs, elfs and so on.  I think 5 races. I pick a human.

Now as far as the customization goes; its not alot but is sufficient. You can change face, hair, add things like scars, earings, change hair color. Each one has like 15 choices. There is no class selection. Its make a character and name him. Oh by the way you have to have a first and last name. Once this is all done you make a selection on where to start based off your race then they drop you in the world butt naked with a dagger and a quick window that tells you about the interface.

The first thing I hear is battle. Its scares me Im not sure if someone can kill me right there when I spawned or what, so I run for cover like a little girl hiding till I can see what the hell is going on. The interface immediatly drives me nuts. WASD is there but is all first person until you take  your weapon out. I keep holding the right mouse button as to try to control camera and it keeps opening menus. Ill change this real fast. Ok I arm my weapon and run around town for awhile noticing people running in and out of town like madness. I have no fricken idea what to do until I see some people hack away at a tree. So I guess I will join them. I engage in combat to wack tree and bam I hit another player. Im instantly killed.........well that went well.

Once i figure out this is not how to do it I decide t make a shout out for some newb help. Someone tells me to go talk to a councilor and pick up some goblin quests. So off I go. I get the goblin quest, head on out and start searching for some goblins. Twenty mins later I find one. At least I thought there was one until I see some more making they're way towards me from way way far. .......I die...run back try again...........die...........repeat.................die............ Finally I kill one then next thing you know, Im dead again. What the hell??? I just got killed by another player.  I run back.....ganked.....run back...ganked... Repeat and rinse...

I decide to go to another area, find a goblin and kill one. Im freaking out now because there is loot. I know what to do now. Loot and run my butt to the bank and deposit it. Its almost hilarious because this is all you see. Anyways, I high tale out of there only to get big time lost and when I think Im alone............ganked......sigh...................... People this game is brutal. There is no room for error and turning your back. You even get kill by the ones you group with. I did happen to find some nice people, and some mean people. I guess thats the way the cookie crumbles in every game I assume. After a cool 3 hours I managed to kill 4 goblins and meet someone to show me the basics. The other few hours I ran around like I was Mr. experience. The graphics are not great, but not bad. The trees move, grass moves, sunsets are beautiful and there is something about the art work that you will come to love or hate. This game really has me on the edge in everything I do.  I like it. Dont know how long, but at the moment it has me stirred up inside to play. But overall the UI is wierd, graphics are good not great, mobs are hard and prepare to die alot. There are some graphical glitches like half of buildings suspended in the air, not alot of monsters roaming through the forests like you see in other games and basically not what you will be used to.  The game almost stress me out haha.

Take it with a grain a salt and keep trucking. 

The game you are referring to is called Shannara.. Its a game linked to the Sword of the Shannara series. If you ever get the chance read the series from book one.  The game is cool to.. You can find the game sometimes on ebay, or Half.com

I was thinking....damn I log onto this site more than any other ones out there. But there is a missing feature I would love to see on here; the local weather LOL.... I log onto msn.com or yahoo weather, type my zip code in and bam I out as fast as I was in.

I know its stupid but for me if that was there I guess it would be everything I need.

Im not sure if upgrading to a 32 mb cache would show me an incredible increase in performance or not.

I have a western digital 16 mb cache sata 3 320 gigs I beleive.

Will upgrading make a difference as far as gaming?

Hi all, I got a little bit of money back from my taxes and I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading my current system. I play COD, Chronicles of spellborn, Lord of the rings online and games in that caliber.
