I think you'd be disappointed in the results of a processor upgrade.  Sure, a Core i5 2500K is a very capable processor, and definitely the thing to get in a new computer on a $1000-$2000 budget.  But if it's the difference between 150 frames per second on the new processor and 100 on the processor you have now, then a benchmark can easily tell you that the 2500K is faster.  Back in the real world, that difference doesn't matter, though.  And that's even assuming that the processor is the limiting factor, which it may not be.  If your video card caps you at 80 frames per second, then upgrading the processor changes nothing.

Now, if you're playing some game where your processor limits you to 30 frames per second, and you want something faster than that, then sure, a Core i5 2500K together with an Asus P8P67 Pro or some such makes sense.  But that's why I asked why you want to upgrade.  If the old computer performs flawlessly, then the new one can't beat that.

You would notice a big difference from getting a solid state drive, though.

Hey quizz i dont understand the ssd. Why are they so small GB wise? Do i use this in conjunction with my main drive? Or does is become my main drive? Will my current board support it? What is a good suggestion as to buying one.

ok then, what setup with the I5 core 2500k would show me a significant change. looking around 7-8 hundred dollars with keeping the video card.

Your video card, processor, and OS didn't exist three years ago.  So the computer can't be that old.

But again, why are you looking to upgrade?  Is there some particular purpose for which it's too slow?  Some feature you need and don't have?

I posted about 8 months ago about the specs on my system. The past year or 2 Ive kinda fell out of the loop as to what new hardware is out there. I was told 8 months ago  to wait till new er generation hardware has come out. Anyone out there give me some suggestions as to what I could upgrade to, or stay where Im at.

I recently bought SKYRIM, and notice some issues I didnt have before. I know its demanding so I wonder if my hardware is begining to fall off the map.

I have a friend that didnt want to use his old everquest2 account and wanted to transfer a character over to my account EQ2. Now he plays periodically on my account to play EQ1 and uses his credit card to pay for the service. I pay for EQ2 with another credit card. Now sony is saying for the transfer of eq2 accounts why are theyre multiple users(me and him namely) in different states when the 2 accounts have to different names so they dont want to transfer and are giving me hell. I didnt know this about sharing.
Can they ban me on my account EQ2 cause he uses it? I can see them banning his old account cause they deem it theyre policy but will they find out hes logging on EQ in another State on my account and ban mine?

extended or live? or is that on both? seems I get way less on extended than Live but i dont want to look for a group for hours on live either. Hows the low levels on live servers?

I have an inactive account on sony for EQ2 live with some toons from 55-70. On the other hand its been about  a year or so that I have played. I got this itch but don know if I should dedicate my time to the extended version or just go back to a server thats probably already dead where my characters are on. 

Is EQ2 extended worth the time?

Or is Antonia Bayle server worth rexploring again?

Just a quick post. Ive been juggling so many games lately and never lasting. Got a bit worn out on Rift so I decided to take advantage of Sonys free 45 day game trials and load up the ol Vanguard account.  Im glad I did. I read in a previous post about a guild called Twighlyte Song and that they were a very active laid back guild with people on all the time. Glad I looked them up. They have low characters, high characters and always willing to help.  Great guild So if anyone is wanting to take advantage and go relive some Vanguard days look us up, I promise you wont be dissapointed.

Anyone think that ever since these PS3 hackings, that Microsoft XBOX 360 sales have come up?

The fanatical gamer who just says screw this Ill buy a 360 and the game I was playing on PS3?

Oh my Richard Gariott where are you? Where is the master of the Ultima series and supreme visionary of what a true rpg really is. Hey Richard I grew up on Ultima 1 all the way to Ascension.  Those games have truely branded themselves in my heart for all eternity and if for one time I could ever relive that nostalgia you brought to me It would feel like winning the lottery.

I have a buddy key,cause I bought the game... but you know what Im not giving it away to online posters. As I to sat here posting on this site the same thing about wanting a buddy key. But you know what I went and bought it, I was hesitant but wasnt about to sit around waiting for someone to respond. I mean how many posts have there been and have any of you actually got one from someone?

Cause whats happening is the ones who actually go buy the game blind and love it are handing it over to their personal friends and family. And those who hate it are dumping the game and saving someone else in their opinion the hatred they may obtain also.
