I agree... people are judged because they are said to be noobs. But honestly, there are a lot of people in their own guilds or core raiding groups that suck more than me.

I was caught in a situation where, they didn't need me but then they needed me cause the raid, people kept dropping, and I find out that the asshat, was the raid leader, and you know he told me that I was under geared, but while I was in the raid, I held solid 3rd place, in overall damage and damage-per-second.  So this stupid achievement thing means nothing to regular people like me who have lives that don't raid constantly. Sucks for them their loss.

I think alot of people moan and groan... but I personally think this game will be great. It'll be a change from all the other stuff. I myself like the graphics... Kiddy graphics like WoW, just doesn't do it for me.  If you don't like the game then don't play. If you are looking for something totally new, umm MMO's are MMO's.

But I have to agree with a lot of you about the interview, it did suck. No new information that I already knew... Atleast give us more info about the game, or something....

And to the people who plan to play this, cya in game. ;)

Aion - I LOVE it!

Guess I will log for the night and hope that not a lot are on when I wake up early tommorow. Even switching channels it was jam packed.

that's how all the games start... :P just gotta deal with it... or party up...

Fair enough, but with games like Vanguard, when you first step into the world, you have a npc waving you over, that instantly makes you feel like a part of the world.

Aion as soon as I logged in for the first time, I had nothing, and the npc was so badly marked that I didn't even notice hime until a I  grinded to level.... and even then the quest dialogue was L2-esque from the first quest I tried. Very rarely will you get a game where the actual dialogue increases and makes you more immersed in the world. I find a game that game immerse you the instant your load your first character into the world, is a game that will have a higher retention rate for subscribers.

Aions immersive quality is supposedly to come later in higher levels, for a lot of people, it is the 21st century, we have 21st centrury lives that are moving so fast we have no time to sit arounsd and wait for it through repetive grinding unlike the Koreans who main stream way of life has been unchanged, since lineage 1.

Wow... I don't think you understood anything the guy who started the post was talking about... If you don't like korean games move on... don't start talking crap about the people who made it... you know there are many things wrong with Vanguards game when you first load it... if you can load it... LMAO... but hey that didn't stop me from playing it... If you want to say a game sucks... give a good reason... cause saying a game sucks cause you didn't understand the game is lame especially if you were playing the Chinese OBT... you should be grateful you were able to get in...

If you want a game that immerses you in... with an ongoing background story play Final Fantasy 11... right off the bat you get pulled in... But hey you seem like your not the grinder so you probably won't ever get to experience an awesome story...

I think WoW is farthest from Hardcore... When I think of hardcore, I think of EQ1, thousands of people fighting 1 dragon boss.  I think of Lineage doing the same... I think of FF11 that takes you 30 hours of your life to get to lvl 18 to get you a subjob so you can start to really play...  Rewards that are worth it... WoW has no rewards, titles, that do nothing You don't feel like you have accomplished anything especially when you know you spent 7 months to get all your gear and the guy standing there just turned 80 and they outrolled you to get something better....

WoW was made for the softcore person, and hey they admit it... why did they turn 40 man raids into 25... cause they felt it was too hard to get 40 people? Cause 40 was too hardcore... we have to make our content easier...  blah blah blah...

After trying Darkfall thi sAion seems liek a kids game, PvP you say? i dont think you kno whwat really pvp is ;p

I thought I would never say this but after games like Darkfall I dont think i can come back to these autotarget=WIN button+fetch me 10 rabbit tails x1000 games..........bye bye 2002-2008, roll on the next era of MMOs which actually require a brain to play.

Well don't hate on Aion... Your just into that type of game...  Maybe you like that 3rd person or 1st person style better doesn't mean a game sucks... Just go play the game you want... no need to hate... :P

Woot! I was worried they were going to drop the job system, but he refers to exspanding on it... only downside is I'm a cronic sufferer or "ALTitis" and "grass is greener syndrom"

I played FFXI for quite awhile and then left cause I just didn't have the time to keep leveling with the group or die method and I even came back to the game and played again for another couple months.

i do really hope they have worked out a way to stop the in game econony from going pear-shaped like it did on some servers sometimes....

I dunno this is only speculation... but the art on the official site... shows Whitemage clothing... bard... and a few other... It also shows a Mithra... So I think those things might stay the same... else why would they use FF11 art for FF14? Just speculation tho... ;)

The only thing that made me stop playing ff11 was the group or die gameplay. To hear that they are also not using PlayOnline is a plus. It seems like this will be the final fantasy mmo I thought I was going to be playing when ff11 came out. About freaking time.

They didn't say they aren't using playonline...

Hardcore MMO's are Dead.

Why?

And of corse this is just theory. And I am a core player.

We can't blame WoW. I think WoW is a shitty MMO, but besides the point, let's face it... It did well.

WoW brought casual gamers to MMO's. Being that there are many more casual players then MMO players, WoW boomed.

The MMO industry is a buisness. And like any buisness, you follow the money.

That is why you no longer see Core MMOs, just, simple-hold your hand casual 'MMOs'

Sucess of WoW changed the genre. Like making FPS into Puzzle games.

And because there are many more Casual players, developers will cater to their needs.

It sucks for all the Core players, I know. Only if money didn't matter right? Then we could have both.

After waiting so long for the FFXIV reveal, I see SE is making things easier for casual players.

My Last Hope. Gone.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online

You play together, not solo.

So all you casual players, go back to your single player games and leave our MMOs alone. Please.

I dunno... I think you are giving up too easily. Asian MMO's have never been for the faint of heart. WoW just made MMO's come to the forefront. But like you said it's true, there will be dumb mmo's and complex ones.

FFXI has always been hard, and continues to be hard. 1 slip up and everyone ends up dead.  I'm sure they will take everything they learned from FFXI and put it into FFXIV, well their press conference even says so.  Hardcore MMo's i'd say wait for Aion, and FF14, most American MMo's seemed to depart from EQ1 days... Sad cause EQ1 was a freakin hard game, if you didn't have someone to power buff u to hell...

Sure there will be easy MMO's and there will always be overly hard MMo's just gotta pick your game... You're not gonna like everything...  It's good that people like MMo's cause hey it gives a variety in devs and that just means that one day they might make a game that knocks your socks off... so don't hate, just appreciate... LMAO... GL on your quest to find a good game...

HEY someone else in the same boat... But yea i went back to FFXI playing it on and off... at the moment off... but honestly there is nothing else like it... Even the new games don't compare... The graphics might be dated but the gameplay is legend.

If you are looking to just kill time... GO LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT! ;) that's what I did... waiting for the next FFXI is taking a while but in this time I learned how to play electric/acoustic guitar and bass guitar... ;) so Go get healthy and mind ready for the next game. I'm sure SE won't disappoint... :D GL!

Here is what Bluehole says about the games combat system...

Action-like gameplay! Immersive battles!

"1,2,3,1,2,3…"

Facing the mob and repeatedly pressing a skill button is no longer exciting.
Even the unprecedented hit title, WoW, doesn't deviate from the traditional combat system.

TERA introduces a ground-breaking innovation to the MMORPG combat system.

From the start, the company hoped to realize a combat system that would set a new global standard. After careful consideration, it was decided that TERA's fight sequences should closely resemble real fight scenes. Hence, TERA will introduce omni-directional attacks, where distance and direction must be coordinated for weapons and spells to work; moreover, healers must continuously take new battle positions to cast spells. Also, depending on body weight ratio between a mob and player, an enemy hit will register a fall-back reflect. These are some of the innovative features in TERA.

Also, unlike games that claim to be a MMORPG by emphasizing action-style gameplay, TERA does not utilize zoning (section loading). All users will seamlessly move throughout the world, sharing a singular combat experience. Moreover, the foundation for the innovative combat system originates from the robust client/server technology. This breakthrough technology is one of the many revolutionary features developed by Bluehole to enhance the end-user experience.

Oh and that Galka looking caster dude... looks FF11... ;) I want this game....

Continent of the 9th...

I just saw this recently... what are you thoughts?

Give me your thoughts.. looks sorta like that PS3 game... darn forgot the name...

When I was watching This, I thought about TCOS, but damn... TCOS has nothing compared to this... Free/form combat... but graphics, sounds, etc... yikes... TCOS is looking dated as it is... I was gonna try TCOS but now... I don't think I will... ;)

This sort of combat is not what I'm looking for in an MMORPG.

LMAO, then I guess u like the old style of targeting and auto targeting... etc... boring... no skill...  Free/form action combat is the best and provides a more fluid and intuitive gameplay... UO-> WOW and even WAR all use targetting... snores....  If you like to be engaged into your games, and actually be emersed in it... action combat is the best which is what I think a lot of people like better....

The MMO of old is too old time to move on to something more immersive.... you can't hang on to the past ;)

This looks great although I'm scarcely excited considering all asian mmorpgs haven't been what the trailers were but regardless of that I'm not sterotyping asian developers I'm just not going to dwell alot on this game but Iw ill continue tp follow it.

LOL... cool but I have yet to see anything reach Tera's quality on the internet... Only thing that comes anywhere close is Aion...   The days of target attacking are of the past and outdated... Free action play is the future of MMo's well for a while... :D Hack/slash style with RPG, intensive modifications, reminds me of the older diablos, but this looks lightsyears away from Diablo...  Meaning even diablo 3 doesn't compare to this... Hope Blizz is looking behind their backs....

so what you all think about Tera?

http://www.gametrailers.com/game/10756.html

Looks crazy, and if it's like this, it's going to be one of the best MMo's

well what server are you on? if you are on garuda and still low level, I can help you level, yea it does suck only time to lvl low lvls are when new classes are introduced... but yea it take a lot of patience or help from a friend to get past those low lvls... goodluck

American MMo's have too much hype and not enough Umph!... Also they are on easymode ie:WOW... I'm glad Aion is made from the Korean team, expect it to hammer you!
