My point is, why is it all of a sudden a game like ESO, which I thoroughly enjoy and think is so much better than anything that has released in years, is getting such terrible reviews, while games which almost no one enjoyed - received such AWESOME reviews?

 <>

Did you ever consider that maybe the game is just bad? Yeah. I can't confirm it yet, but maybe that's something you should consider instead of thinking it's some big conspiracy. Maybe the game is just bad.

Kill quests are gone. They replaced it with something worse. A new, shittier era.

Here is a TL;DR for their DAOC plans:

- update the daoc websites like camelot herald

- update the UI to attract more users

- implement a RVR revamp patch (which is currently live on the test server

- maintain close relations with the community through the forums

Here is a link to the current planned revamp changes:

Hmm, do you think maybe your request is too vague? Put yourself in our shoes. How in the hell are we supposed to know what you mean by "server stuff"? Do you have any idea just how many different types of server things there are to learn about? Thousands. And you're interested in what exactly? I guess we could just start guessing. Here is a guide on how to make a counter strike server:

But they could involve you Raph :D I would definitely welcome you to work on the new project SOE is working on, if they asked you, even though the evidence all points to SWG 2.

There is no evidence pointing to SWG 2.  Smedley specifically said it was going to be a new IP.

Caz is correct. It isn't SWG resurrected. It isn't SWG 2. It's a brand new IP. He said this directly. I don't know why people aren't getting it through their heads.

You all are reading too much into this. This site covers these games because it makes them money. The more people who use this site, the more they make on ads. It's as simple as that. I'm sure they understand these games aren't mmorpgs or even hybrids for the most part. It just doesn't matter what they're called. They are going to get covered either way because games like Dota and LOL are popular enough to cover.

"Well then why don't they cover Call of Duty and Counter Strike etc?" you might be wanting to spit back at me.

Well they can if they want, but I think it's pretty clear they are trying to stick to a selective group of non mmos to include in their coverage. I don't see how anyone could see an issue with this or with their classification of these games. Their naming is irrelevant. If you don't like it, don't read it.

It doesn't mean what you're suggesting. Just because they renew it doesn't mean they will use it. It just means they don't want to allow anyone else to use it. Keeping trademark rights for as long as legally possible is standard by almost everyone who uses trademarks.

They've specifically said multiple times it isn't SWG. It isn't SWG. It's something else.

Open Alpha = 20$ to play an unfinished game

Yeah, "open" implies free. "Open alpha" to me means the current alpha build is free to try. This cost $20 though to get into the alpha. I'll try it free.

Did this game use to have another name?

"A mindset that Designed Downtime should be a part of the game to ensure players have time to form important social bonds."

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is so great to hear coming from a developer. I thought none of them recognized how helpful such downtime can be for the community.

I didn't want to vote due to ignorance on my part of a few things about the game that I know would sway me one way or the other. It sounds like you're interested in how people feel about the game play, but we need more specific info.

Obviously it's zombie survival horror, but in terms of the game play, how exactly does the game feel when playing it? Maybe tell us how your game compares to Rust, Day Z, Project Zomboid (other than the obvious POV difference), Dead Island, and 7 Days to Die. In what ways is it similar to any of these? In what way is it different? In what ways is it completely unique?

Describing it as zombie survival horror isn't enough because we don't know if it plays more like minecraft (7 Days to Die) or FFA Counter Strike with supplies (Day Z).

In what way in the game realistic? For example, you said there's health packs, which make me think that you can just run your character over a kit with a health symbol on the ground and your health will go from 50 back up to 100. Is it like that, or  is it going to be more realistic, where you have to carry around medical supplies with you and crouch down and give yourself stiches, etc.

What I like so far:

- I like that the game sounds like it's just an open ended survival game with no real story line other than the story of you just trying to survive out there in the jungle. This reminds me of Project Zomboid, where your adventure is the story. There is no story mode to play through.

- In general I like realistic survival games, such as Project Zomboid and Unreal World. You have to find realistic amounts of food and water and shelter to survive, in addition to having to avoid the threats (zombies). I also like when you have to make sure your mental state stays healthy, such as in Project Zomboid and games like Penumbra (where you can get scared and kind of lose control of your character).

So if your game is like that, then that makes me happy. On the other hand, if a game is "realistic" in one way (such as needing to find lots of water), but then unrealistic in another similar way (moving over health packs to make your health go up) then it just kind of ruins the realism in every way. I'm not saying it's bad if the game isn't realistic. I just prefer consistency if it's there at all.

- I like that the focus isn't on PVP since other games are already covering that. I don't mind a little PVP thrown into a game like this, but I'd rather them to be more PVE / survive against the elements.

- Player co op. Always great if done right.

What I don't like so far:

- Having to play with NPC soldiers. I never like having to play with NPCs. It is just annoying. The pathing usually sucks. I hate having to protect them. I hate them trying to protect me. They just get in the way. I hate hearing the same comments they say over and over again. Everything about playing co-op with NPCs is terrible (in my opinion). I believe that a lot of people feel the same way. Co-op with humans is awesome. Co-op with NPCs usually adds nothing and is also usually a disaster in terms of their programming. It simply isn't fun to me.

Note that if the NPCs are more or less just automatons that gather supplies for you or protect the camp* (*edited this word because I accidentally said "game" originally) in a stationary position then that's not as annoying. On the other hand, automatons generally seem like a lazy design choice. So neither way is really all that great.

- It sounds like you only have two possible things to do in the game: kill zombies to lower aggro or go out to gather supplies.

- Map sounds like it's all natural environments (mountains, jungles, caves). Hopefully some of the map takes place in a city.

- Haunted train. Makes the game sound far from any kind of realistic survival and more like a kid's game.

- Power ups that make you run faster or grant immunity or other things like that. Makes me think of Doom. Doom is a great game. That kind of stuff just seems incompatible with an open world zombie survival. Unless you're going for a more arcade feel, in which case my entire post is null and void.

- Find whoever is the best at grammar and writing in your group and let them peer review and edit your stuff before you post it. Some people viewing your steam page will lose interest because it looks slightly unprofessional due to grammar issues and lack of clarity. Note that this is the kind of thing that if you get defensive about it will turn people off even more and make you look like a dumb dumb.

Thing's I'm not sure about:

- Zombies getting stronger as the game goes on. I'm not saying this is a bad feature or anything, but I do feel like it's something you're going to have to be very careful with. If they get stronger indefinitely then every play through will ultimately reach an impossible level of difficulty, assuming you survive that long. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It sounds like you want every game to end in player death (with no way to "win"), and that's fine. It's just that having the zombies get harder and harder until they are impossible to kill seems like a boring way to do it. You know that everything you do before hand is futile, because eventually the zombies will be killing gods and nothing you can do can stop it.

Generally speaking, a more fun approach would be to increase the difficulty of the game in other ways, such as by adding new threats (electricity getting shut off  / most water becoming infected / NPC gangs that raid your supplies and possibly try to kill you if you don't comply / etc) or modifying a variety of old threats (zombies get harder as you're already doing, but other things as well). There's a bunch of things you can do to increase the difficulty in the later stages of a play through rather than just turning god mode on for the zombies.

- The aggro system. It sounds like zombies no matter how far away will have more aggro against you if you don't kill zombies. This just feels weird. Aggro is normally based on how close the zombies are to you, if they hear you/see you doing something, etc. Why would far away zombies aggro more because you killed zombies a mile away. Makes no sense.

Well that's all for now. Feel free to ask me any questions. Hopefully you can take the good with the bad. The developers that get defensive and write even remotely rude replies to criticism are the developers that get torn a new asshole by gaming communities. To avoid that, you have to be polite or just not reply at all. Or be a master of wit in your replies.

Good luck.

Left speechless? That's sensational and intentionally misleading. Clearly his prepared speech wasn't being communicated to him and he got flustered. It had nothing to do the with TV. And since you're making a mountain out of a molehill, I'd say it's more likely that you're the one trying to spread the hype.

Oh and your youtube link starts halfway through the video.

I can't believe after 50 posts he still hasn't said which one he's talking about. He's just jerking everyone around. There is no awesome, mythical mmo that all of us want to be playing but aren't playing.
DMKano got it all right.

Come on. Source link?

No WASD movement is the only thing that will prevent me from trying this.
I don't think any mmo fits your criteria, unless there is an eastern one I don't know about. Check out Ryzom I guess. If you just want crafting and no combat then check out A Tale in the Desert. I have a few other recommendations, but I'm not allowed to say them.
Voxels to me looks like the step back. EQN screenshots look like butt. I'm not saying ESO will be fun but at least the screenshots don't look like fresh vomit.
Not even one second of this was worth watching.
Oh yeah I remember this game. I used to play it on the N64. It was called Turok or something like that. The controls were weird and took a while to get used to because you used the yellow buttons to move around I think and the joystick to move the camera. It was fun but didn't stand the test of time all that well. I played Wave Race 64 and Shadows of the Empire much more. Wave Race in particular had quite a bit of replay value, whereas Shadows of the Empire I think I beat it on the very first day I owned it. It was fun to replay the missions, but there's only so many times you can be the same 9 or however many levels. I never played Turok 2 Seeds of Evil so I can't give a review on it. Maybe someone else can help you out though?
