You didn't have to play 1.0, your post is exactly how fans used to post during 1.0. So it gave me a deja vu feeling and we know how things went after couple of months.When people start wishing for people to leave and how it will make community lot better it just raises all kind of red flags. Seen it happening so many times.

I didn't say I "wish" players would leave - I said that we don't need players like that. There are other games out there for the hardcore gamer elitists - the rest of us are thrilled with what SE has done and are looking forward to the upcoming content.

It's going to take me at least another month to finish leveling my crafting profs alone...maybe. I take my time and am enjoying the ride.

I have long way left to get to that point XD.

 

Got lv27 lancer(main), lv27 archer, lv27 puglist. Got five crafting professions at lv30, three at lv25-27, got botanist at lv26, miner at lv26. 

 

I think I would honestly dislike backtracking, that's why I level all "together" so to speak. Hardest to level are definitely the botanist and miner; so those are the ones "slowing" me down XD. 

 

I don't think I would like rushing a crafting class to 50, while the rest are far behind. I am done for today, but my goal tomorrow is to get the three remaining crafting classes to lv30; need to collect bomb ash trough lv26 miner to get those mats and simultaneously get some exp on my miner. Of course I calculate so that I collect just enough bomb ash to get my armorer and blacksmith to lv30 through crafting steel ingots (steel ingot = 2 x iron ore + 1 x bomb ash); after that I need to use leves to level my gathering classes:/. I do not like selling gathering materials on the AH. 

 

I think my playstyle is very enjoyable. This way, I am never feeling that I "outlevel" stuff. I practically always play in full HQ gear. I refuse to use any gear that isn't crafted by me.

 

I notice that I run out of quest on my main rather easily; so I intend to let my Lancer gain exp from all quests while my archer and puglist are mainly leveled through dungeons and leves. Which reminds me that I need to get my lancer to 28 through questing so that my archer and puglist can get the 50% exp bonus from mobs and fates.

 

If I skipped the gathering classes, I would be so much higher level on remaining classes XD.

Agreed. I play very often - everyday for at least 6-8 hours and my character is only combat level 27 and I have each of the crafting and gathering profs up to 20-24 with the exception of Alchemy, Fishing and Culinarian. If you got to 50 with one tradeskill done - you HAVE NOT done all the content the game has to offer...period.

Gil is essentially used to skilling up a craft, or repairing your end game gear. That's it. And once you lose it, it's 10x harder to make it back, because there is ample supply, and meager demand. This is probably related to the fact that...

At level 26 Armorer I have doubled my gil roughly every 4 days of playing (20k > 40k > 80k > 160k.....) by a couple of hours per day of actually trying to make gil. This is at level 26, not even level 50.

Issue #1: Players create imaginary issues to make it seem like the problem is not on their end.

Interesting. Your reply had anything to with what he was trying to say. He gave some solid points regarding crafting being nothing more than a time and gil sink and all you did was show how much gil you are making everyday.

Issue #1 ; People on these forum do selective reading.

What you're looking for isn't an MMO. Unless you call a gear tread mill an MMO, then maybe you're right. The problem with that attitude is that kind of game comes to a complete stop once you're done with all the challenges. You completely dismiss how the game's emphasis in crafting makes it a cut above the rest of the more recent MMOs. You disregard how that same emphasis thrives on player activity trading that aids in building the community.

 Not to mention personal housing and Free Company Housing that comes With Patch 2.1 , which will give the community even more Tools to build upon.

Housing will be a big boom to the game and something most "content locusts" don't take part in - mostly because there's nothing to speed level and it doesn't involve killing something.

However, you have to consider that not everyone plays the way you do. Some like myself are patiently awaiting the patches to come - Arenas, Golden Saucer, 3-way PVP, housing.

I have no sympathy for all of these Fates grinders who skip the story and content to get to 50 and then whine. And the crafting DOES matter - Materia makes the crafted gear the best in game but people are too lazy to figure that out as well.

I'm no FF ARR fanboy - this is the 1st time I've played a FF title but it's the best MMO I've played in years. All of the "content locusts" will run off leaving a decent community of great players and quite frankly...we don't need or want that kind of player.

The game has just started and will just get better - this is NOT a game that will fail in the long term. I've played enough MMO's to know when I'm playing a gem - and this one is.

Housing coming up and much more stuff planned will keep players subbed and the game community thriving. All the rush to end cap one dimensional players will go to the next thing - it's always been that way.

They could just add more loot chests around the world for people to find. I'm hoping they're working on something else besides dailies also - already have that with Leves.

This is a very inaccurate statement. Wow's crafting is boring and FF ARR's  graphics are FAR superior while still performing as well as Wow. The game will soon have housing which Wow has never implemented. 

Also - the community this far has been a HUGE improvement over Wow's infantile player base. While some of the components of the game (dungeons, raids quests etc) are similar to Wow - the overall game is not.

The only REAL problem for anyone wanting to play right now is actually "buying" the game - it's off the market until SE thinks the servers can handle it. I have NO problems with the gameplay...no bugs...no server performance problems...just smooth!

If you want a fast paced game this is not for you. If you want an older style MMO which actually has something else to do than kill kill kill - this is for you.

Crafting is a BIG part of this game as will be housing when it's released next patch. Not everyone wants to just do dungeons and raids. IMO that's why so many MMO's fail - not enough variety of non-combat activities.

I have already registered the game for 6 month subscription. 

 

I love the crafting.

I love the gathering.

I love the music.

I love the dungeon design and unlike other games, I don't mind doing them repeatedly.

I am waiting for Housing where I can make furniture or get furniture by beating content.

I am waiting for the PvP.

Golden Saucher sounds a lot of fun, ESPECIALLY if they can give us a deep and satisfying card game.

I can't wait for more specializations to be added to the classes I already have at 50.

Actually ..  there is NO content. Have run out of quests at lv. 18 with my highest alt. None avaiable anywhere. Oh, yes, I could go to other cities doing low level quests. :-) But anyway it is not my concern anymore, stopped to play faster then any other game. Even TR have been playing for at least 2 weeks. Will follow still from time to time forums ... but FF ARR is for me thing of past. Totally unfun to play. Sure, music and environment made me very happy at start, I again felt that great FF feeling ... but I'm not playing game where this is all about.

LOL...really? I'm 22 right now and there are so many quests to do I don't know where to start. The main quest line is still going strong.....perhaps you should ask for some help :)

Crafting is optional and not compulsory. For someone who claims to be playing MMOS for years you haven't learned a simple fact that not all players are the same. Some like  crafting, others prefer gathering while others just enjoy the combat. Only because they gave no interest in leveling crafting class doesn't mean they are not playing it right.

So for players who have no interest in other actvities and want to enjoy combat and leveling they are left twidling their thumbs at lvl 50. Don't be surprised if population is in sharp decline after free month is over.

I doubt that seriously - not everyone rushes to 50 and stands around with the thumbs up there arses. I've been playing video games since Pong came out so I have some mileage and this game has A LOT going for it and will be around for some time to come. Combat only players will cycle through and go to something else leaving behind a good community of well-rounded players.

Personal estates and instanced neighboorhoods are coming next update which will further ensure this games long term success. This is the best MMO I've played since the early days of MMO's - period.

I'm sure they'll do something about the gold spamming soon (and it IS awful) and while I originally joined a U.S. server (Ultros) SE was nice enough to transfer me to a Japanese server. So now...along with the gold spammers I get to look at cool Japanese writing I can'y understand.

I keep getting the urge to say konnichiwa to everyone :)

What exactly are you thinking about?  is it so complicated that you need time to think about your next move.  And another question,  some say that the combat speeds up later on in the game.  So does that mean you need less time to think about it the higher you level up?

Again im having fun but the challenge and the speed of leveling is a blemish to me . Anyone else feel the same?

It's like this in every MMO that comes out - players race to level cap by skipping all the content and in this case grinding "Fates" to level quickly. If SE made it so it would take hard core levelers more than a week to hit end cap they'd be complaining it was a grind.

How about actually PLAYING the game...enjoying the story..do all the quests...hell maybe even *gasp* craft! The really bright point of FF ARR is the crafting system. I feel sorry for those players who only do combat and skip the rest of the game.

You like to rent your minions monthly. There is  no way in hell I would pay a box fee and then a monthly rental to collect minions I get to pay rent on monthly.  I don't like to rent my games or the minions therein.

Long live you renting your games and long live me not renting the games I play.

I'm with the OP on this one. I would much rather pay rent for an apartment on Park Ave than live for free at the homeless shelter.
