Yeah - you keep telling yourself that lol

I've read about so many people complaining about the $14.95 subscription cost for SWTOR and other MMO's for that matter. Those same people probably think nothing of spending hundreds of dollars on iPads and other crap but when it comes to what is essentially .50 cents per day for 24/7 entertainment they have a freaking cow.

And - most MMO's provide new content on a regular basis in the form of patches included in the monthly fee so you have a never ending game.

Obviously paying for a sub for a game that sucks makes no sense and MMO developers have to produce games and content that customers will WANT to pay for. If they don't ::cough:: Star Trek Online :cough:: they become FTP.

Is .50 cents per day for round the clock entertainment just too much for people to pay? Really?

I've played Rift - and SWTOR is NOT Rift...that's an insult to SWTOR. The only similarity between the two is that both didn't (and won't) suck at launch. SWTOR beta felt like a finished product - not still in testing.

I had the most fun in an MMO this past weekend than I have in years and promptly pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe copy for the extra goodies and early access. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do for the next 2-3 weeks :)

The idea behind massiveness is that one interacts with the whole community. When i play EVE and meddle in the economy i have to consider all the players' trends, intentions, what they do and think themselves, if i want to predict their actions. That's massive interaction.

As for PvP, when i go battling i have to know the latest politics, i have to consider what's the whole community doing.

What's the open-world PvP like in Swtor? I don't even consider the instanced battlegrounds, cause 1. you play with a bunch of guys and 2. the battlegrounds are usually always the same notwithstanding the global situation.

I've played Eve on and off over the years and found it tedious and 0.0 space to be full of hyped up full-of-themselves jackoffs. It takes years to advance enough to become competitive or even to get into a corp that might know someone who knows someone who can get you into an Alliance in 0.0 space.

Eve is just too much "work" and SWTOR is just all "fun" from the moment you hit the ground. Eve will continue to have 300K sub numbers while SWTOR will have millions. Most people want to have fun in a game - not a virtual job :)

I had some problems wwith the image sizing - sorry about that - all fine now :)

Many have been nitpicking this game for it's graphics but there's no denying that Bioware have built a stunning environment - and these are from only the starter area and Coruscant:

OK,

A few days ago, I made a post expressing my concerns and dislikes about the Voice Acting used in SWTOR. I must say that I not a large fan of Starwars. It's ok but I just not a major follower of it.

Now, with watching sooooooo many playing the bata on my real time web site, I must say that I really like this game.

1) Open world is beautiful. Graphics are a change, A good break from the fantasy setting.

2) Love the companion Idea.

3) Love the classes.

4) Having your own ship.

5) Many others

But the voice acting cut scenes will stop my adrenalin flow, as it seems to do with the players I had been watching. I'll try and go into this Fridays bata with an open mind, who knows it may not really be that bad. So many of us will soon find out.

Many of you are hard-core StarWars fans. In fact there are many here that are not normally mmo players, but Hay you love Starwars that much " good for you ".

Now my question is, and please be honest. Do you really like the voice acting or because it's StarWars and a good quality game made by BioWare.

No, not really. It is Sci-Fi, Science Fiction, meaning science fantasy.

I think what they meant is: NO FREAKING ELVES :)

I usually hate questing in games and go out of my way to avoid them if possible. In Wow - I leveled up several characters by doing battlegrounds only (except for the 1st 10 - had no choice)

SWTOR is the MMO I've played where I became involved with the story and actually felt like part of it - love the voice acting and love the game!

Problem is unlike a single player game you are also paying a monthly subscription on top of the initial outlay so that needs to be factored in when considering whether it is worth the money...

Yeah - cause that extra .50 cents a day for 24/7 playtime is a game breaker lol

I can't stop either, hitting 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2 has me glued on my chair for hours!

They have meds for that condition :)

Anyone else having this issue?

You slept? ;)

Glad you like the game man.

Never EVER use MMORPG.com forums to decide if you should try a game or not....if the posters here had any say, we would all be bitter trolls with nothing to play.

Totally agree.

Just a shame everytime anyone has a valid and informed opinion on here (from over fifteen years of playing mmos from UO onwards) they get called a Troll.

And that's exacty your problem - the old style of gaming is GONE. I do believe UO is still up and running though and it's calling your bitter troll name :)

Proof?

Sounds like you make as many assumptions as the haters.

This is just one poll - there are tons with similar results:

Errr.... what?

I've played for several hours today, and except from the very first area with zillions of players, I've had no problem with lags whatsoever. BUT: chat has been filled with complaints about lags, so calling it "practically non-existent" is a huge lie.

And for your first post:

Don't state self-made "facts" about who's in the minority. And don't attack others for their opinions, especially when your mindless fanboyism isn't any better.

On topic:

Sure, the starting planet was a lot of fun. But on the capitol planet, the game suddenly turns into a huge grind, and got incredibly boring for me. The game took a huge dive there, at least for me. It actually made me uninstall the whole shit.

I would accept the whining about the game if Bioware had marketed it as one thing and then - surprise - they released a totally different game. SWTOR was advertised accurately and is loads of fun.

And I do believe the negatives are in a minority based on what I've read and the comments in game. I'm not having lag issues so I'm not sure what people are in chat are talking about. Practically non-existent doesn't mean non-existent just like red-eye reduction doesn't mean NO red eye.

No one game will please everyone and all the whining in the world won't change that fact. Will millions of people play SWTOR? Yep! Will those millions love playing? Yep. Just because you don't like it won't change that fact either.

After all of the disaapointments that have been released over the past few years - it's really nice to see a game developer take the time to produce a game ready to play at launch with so much future ahead of it.

Another self-made fact. Zero credability left, I'd say.

Btw, no one cares what you would "accept". Your opinions isn't more worth than others'.

And I'm supposed to care....why?

... Games are supposed to be fun and engaging - not require a freaking Phd in gaming to play. ...

A major problem is that too few games take consideration that there are actually people out there who didn't sleep through their high school education.

By no means would I ask for a MMORPG to require a Ph.D. in order to be enjoyable, but I do wish there were more out there that assumed that its players are at least college material in intelligence and maturity.

I suppose EVE Online is the only current MMO that could be considered to qualify.

I wish that SWTOR had contained a more well-written and mature story, even seen through single player RPG standards.

It's Star Wars - when has Star Wars EVER been mature? The same franchise that brought us Ewoks? Jar Jar Binks?

It's Star Wars - not freaking Shakespeare lol

Eve Online has 300K subs for a reason - it's for hardcore gamers. There's something for everyone :)

There is a video floating around somewhere that showed how video games are SO MUCH LESS than they used to be...

Games hold your hand now...  Take almost no skill or learning.  They point you in the direction of every quest, explain every detail about everything, even read out your stats and tell you how much you "need" to do things.   Bla bla bla

Darkfall ----> that way

Absolutely! I played DFO for 3 months - if you're looking for a game that doesn't hold your hand and is brutal - that's the one :)

Oh yeah - because it's so much more fun taking days trying to figure out how to get started. Video games are actually a helluva lot more complex than they used to be. Asteroids...Defender...Pac Man...all super complex. Then came along that real brain teaser: Donkey Kong.

The days of super complex game designs are gone because not enough people play them or want to. The sub numbers don't lie. Games are supposed to be fun and engaging - not require a freaking Phd in gaming to play.

SWTOR is as advertised so there really shouldn't be any shocked people out there thinking it was going to be something else.

It runs smoothly - lag and bugs are practically non-existent and will thrill millions of people while a few thousand sit in the corner sucking their thumbs.

I started beta for the 1st time today and found exactly what I expected: Lots of fun and NO - it's not super complex...as I knew it wouldn't be. It's a freaking blast with tons of future potential. If you're looking to jump into a game and hit the ground running and have a good time in the Star Wars universe - this is it.

The whining that has begun is incredible. The game was NEVER touted as being a sandbox - super complex grind fest. This is not UO or AO or any of the older games that never made it financially but rather an engaging - almost like playing a video book - game. The voice acting cut screens really draw you into the story and I love how you can get tempted by the dark side (if your good of course) and have to be careful how you respond to certain quests or you lose light/dark points.

Games now are so much more than they were when I was 15. You had to drive to an arcade to play your favorite game and then sometimes wait in line to play the new ones. I would spend $15-20 per day easy and all I hear from people now is whining about sub fees. I mean - you can play from the comfort of your home 24/7 for $15 a month - .50 cents per day.

So to conclude: SWTOR exceeded my expectations and is exactly what I thought it would be: pure fun. If you were expecting a highly complex game (at least at launch) then it's really your problem - and you're in the minority.

Hi all im 27 years old and i play games since 1997 i was waiting for this game 2 f years and to tell the truth im very dissapointed.

My system rig 980x watercooled 580 sli latest drivers 12 gigs of ram alienware optx 2310 monitor ssd drive

One word for those who are willing to buy the game "try it before u buy it.It may save u some money especially if u have preordered the collectors just like me.

The only reason i tried the beta was to see if those150 euro really worth it.

I played 2 characters a smuggler and a bounty hunter

What i didnt like about the game:

Character movement animations are awful

graphics are not very good even on ultra

Gameplay is not fun u shoot with guns but it doesnt play like 3rd person shooter it plays like meh...it's not fun

Smugglers cover system is not fun and it doesnt work  well.Furthermore it looks out of action.

it didnt give me the feeling that i was advancing in lvls

Performance of the game is very very very poor even on my system i had 35 fps outdoors.Indoors was better but im not playing the game only for indoors. They may improve that but i dont think there will be much of improvement.

////////////////////////////////////////

The only thing they managed to do right is the dialogs but im not playing a game only for dialogs but for it's gameplay.

I conclussion the gameplay of the game was not fun and it didnt gave me the feeling so as to want to play more.It seemed that there were a lot of things missing.

Now ill have to cancel my collectors preorder cause 150 euro for this game doesnt worth it nor my 15 per month.

Back to saints row 3 and waiting for diablo 3

Ps Try the game for your self if u get the chance. You may like it.For me im a very demanding player and if i see some things missing i just abandon it from the beggining. Some things may change but i think i gave them a lot of time to bring it on.This game should have been released by march. Now it releases december and it  still looks like crap.

Peace

The game is still in beta and you're drawing conclusions? Well - I think you're just about alone in your negative opinion of SWTOR. Have fun with your wittle FPS's :)
