I was in closed beta as well and it is a fun game.  Nothing new so much, just a solid MMO experience with a good community so far.

They are doing weird things with their updates.  I can't figure out if they want to make the game more of a grind or more casual.  They keep trying to do both at the same time.

I was a member for awhile and got all my jobs to level 20.  I cancelled recently because there just wasn't any reason to maintain membership.  Sure I can't go to some Members-Only dungeons, but with all my combat jobs at level 20 there isn't much of a reason to worry about those dungeons.

I can see this game being reduced to a skeletal crew of developers to keep it plugging along like many of SOE's games once they start up their next game.  A casual Star Wars game using this engine is supposedly in the works.  That should be fun hopefully.

So of my greatest experiences online were with the early days of Planetside.  It was really, really fun back in the day.  I'd love to see a sequel.

I won!  I've never played the game before, but will give it a full month run through now that I have a copy.  I'm rather happy since I've never won anything before at MMORPG outside of a T-Shirt for some game I can't remember.

I went ahead and entered.  I'd like to see how the game is nowadays.

It went from being way, way to easy to make money to a huge coin draught.  Wish they would have opted for somewhere in the middle.

The new multi-chapter questline is pretty fun and has some good rewards for an Adventurer.

There

Actually SOE is not doing well at all.   Since their halcyon days with EQ, their days of having any thoughts of dominance in this genre are long gone.  While Free Realms is a well done kids game, kids at that level do not have access to that much cash, so I would like to know where you think all this money from Free Realms is flowing from?

Okay just point me to the Empirical evidence that they aren't doing well and you will have validity.  They just hired a very good friend of mine away from  DC Comics, and he is quite happy with the compensation package as well as the Five year contract....Companies that aren't doing well don't do things like that.

Not pretty.

BTW...contracts don't mean anything anymore.  Ask the corporate bond holders of Chrysler how much a contract is worth as of 2009.

Take the time to learn what you are talking about before posting.  You just blew any credibility you may have had with that link.  Use your head.

I'm 36 and have put in well over 100 hours through beta and release.  There is a great adult community in the game with everyone from stay-at-home casual game loving mothers to TCG fanatics to hardcore raiders.

I planned on playing for free but the game is so much fun and membership is so cheap I went ahead and became a member.  I also broke down and bought a bunch of cards for the card game which is really good.

Is it just me, or did they hit the 1 mill mark pretty fast?

Personally, I find this game very enjoyable.  It would be nice if they take the advertizements and other nonsense off the screens when waiting for the game to load.  At least take it off for the members.

They are going to remove it for members, it was a mistake according to Pex on the official forums.

The first 999,999 are getting a free t-shirt for their character and pet as well as a couple hundred station cash. The one million user will be getting lifetime membership and 10k station cash.

I think you misunderstood.  I was referring to membership and boosters as ways to get more cards once you make the decision to spend money.  I didn't mean to give the impression that either were free.

You can reach Card Duelist level 20 using only your starter deck and the cards you win along the way.   By the time you finish the questline your collection will have grown by nearly 100 cards.  From here you can continue to play any of the 30+ NPC decks available at any time as well as compete in casual games against other players.  There is a huge random factor in this TCG which tends to level the playing field a good deal.  You don't need to spend a fortune on cards to win.

It is at this point where you'll decide if you want to spend money.  You get one free booster each month if you are a member and can buy boosters at any time.

Shame I couldn't keep my beta character, but it's understandable.

I'll go back once I'm convinced that end game RvR is varied enough and fun enough to continue.  I really had a great time with WAR, I think it is a great game, but once you hit max level you are stuck taking keeps over and over and over and over and over.  I don't care about the PvE component at all, I just want more to do with RvR.  And while they having made improvements with RvR, it is just not enough yet for me to re-subscribe.

Everything you do in the game with and including the characters you make are property of SOE.  Nothing, beyond the box you bought in the store, belongs to you.  They are not responsible for customers who agree to their terms and then express moral outrage later.  Anyone who is upset with this has only themselves to be mad at.

They have every right to do this and have done nothing wrong.

I've seen a lot of misleading stories posted about this.  MMORPG isn't the first to do it.

There are no announced plans for free-to-play servers in NA/EU.
