Originally posted by Veighnerg I believe they could do two things to truly improve the play 1) Planetside 2 combat style. There were almost there anyway. 2) Let the Bane be a playable race. Incorperate that into the pvp |

Tabula Rasa: Petition to Revive Endorsed by Garriott
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/06/13 4:59:22 PM
Originally posted by MindTrigger And sometimes it is simply the subscription model. Quite a few games have failed at 15 dollars a month but have succeeded as FTP. I remember when Tabula Rasa came out, I was counting down the days, then I went to Game stop and asked for the game; they said "What's Tabula Rasa?" If Game Stop didn't even know about the game up release day, then there was horrible marketing. There are other reasons besides 'being a bad game' that can cause a game to fail. |

Anyone else not thrilled with the setting/theme of WildStar?
General Discussion « WildStar 6/06/13 1:46:12 PM
The Videos imply Wildstar will be fun and light-hearted sci-fi game. So not everyone will like it.
You can't please everyone so just make the game you want to make and hope there are those who enjoy it as well. |

It's all out there, if you like theme parks, if you like FFA full loot pvp there are games that exist in those styles. Nothing is ruined, unlike when there were only three MMO's we have all the choice in the world. |

Should there be hunger in an mmorpg?

Hunger would be great in a Vampire MMO.

Originally posted by ZombieKen I would agree with much of that. I would add Daily quest as well. |

Originally posted by Theodwulf I believe you are right, many games fail because they are just poorly made, not because no one likes WoW clones or no one likes sandboxes. There are exceptions, like City of Heroes or Tabula Rasa and sometimes games just get old and outdated. |

Originally posted by Doogiehowser I don't agree about ESO. If it fails, it was because the Developers turned away from what made The Elders Scroll unique in favor of the Same old Same old. If it fails it means MMO consumers are tired of the same and want something different. That is a good thing. |
|
Originally posted by Dwarfman420 The problem is, no two people who champion sandboxes can seem to agree on what a sandbox is. Therefore no game is a sandbox. However, a game doesn't have to be a Sandbox in order to break away from the MMO trends of the last five or six years. Just be different or unique in a specific way. Whether it is setting or combat or the way you do quests. There are games that have broken from the "WoW Clone" mode but it seems that the loudest complainers against WoW clones don't want to play them either. |

Originally posted by nariusseldon Good point, most of what we play can be traced back topen and paper DnD; and DnD can be traced back to Tolkien and LoTR's; And lord of the rings could be traced back to mythology. I blame the GREEKS!!! |

Originally posted by mikuniman I have to agree, People complain about "WoW clones" but when you mention games that are different from WoW, they claim they suck. So if WoW and Wow clones suck and games that are not WoW clones suck... then you might as well just quit MMO's all together because that is all there is. As for me, I make no claims that WoW is the best MMO in the universe. I simply played it because it was fun. When it stopped being fun, I quit. If I miss it I'll go back. I'll do the same for any MMO to be honest. |

Play Secret world: Generic quests, No Generic game world, No WoW/DnD style leveling, (As in you go from level one to level two etc...) No --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the whole I would agree with you. As someone has played WoW, when I took a break from WoW I wanted something different. If I want WoW I'll play WoW no a cheap knock-off. Here are some games you should try: EVE: space instead of fantasy, unique leveling system, hard core, sandbox Darkfall UW: Haven't played this one but if it's like the original, first person it is miles away from WoW Secret World: See above GW2 (Not in most things but it takes a shot at getting rid of the trinity which is good, but hearts are just quest hubs where you automatically get the objectives when you enter the hub area) Wurm: A sand box where if you cut down a tree it's gone, if you plant a tree it grows, build a house a road or whatever you want.
