Which all in all is to bad but thats just me , both games were polished in their betas and did well but both are lacking something.

But the game will do alright its just not for me .

It is still a guessing game about the two flagship games EQ, and EQ2.  We been down 9 days now and keep getting the same expansion, were working on it.

We have to be real, at some point it has to cost more to fix the game than save it.    I think we are rapidly getting close to that point for all the pc games at soe.

Now the PSN stuff they have 21 million ps3, psp out in the field so they still have a chance to save face their.  however I don't see how they can compensate for the games who already are suffering low populations.  If SOE keeps this up for the PC side games there not going to have much of a player base left.  Most of the people playing the PC based games are doing it because they truly loved them, however at some point even those folks will realize there just another sub number.

Belive it or not but players are still playing those games whether you like it or not.

 Just go ahead and think that. I been with soe since SWG and EQ2 rolled out.  I can tell you I watched our game populations decline a long time.  Right now our guild forums are full of unhappy folks,  the longer were down the more folks are going to look at other games, even the die hard defenders are questioning whats really going on.

Lol, and ive been with SOE since EQ1 rolled out under SOE .

You guild  does not make up the whole of SOE player base.

Speak for your guild not everyone else.

 Yup your right my guild will be coming back maybe less a couple people but that happens anyway.

If a person leaves over this they are not that die hardcore anyway, so guilds will still go on.

Rift does not do anything different enough for it to compete in a world with WOW, GW2, and TOR. It just doesn't.

It's going to be a foot note, just like AoC, WAR, LOTRO, DDO, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, CoX, CO, DCUO, FXIV, and AION.

 Just wait we will be saying the same about GW2 and TOR after a couple of months being played , people are not just hapy with any games coming out right now and neither of those 2 games will change it.

I agree with the OP i have grown to really like this game , at first i was not going to buy the game but have now bought it and am really enjoying the game.

Rift is not for you so time to move on then .

Look at all the bad games that were supposedly great according to the fans!  Warhammer and Aion anyone?   It is one thing to say a game is good, it is another to trumpet it as the next coming and that is exactly what we've seen time and time again only to watch that games population dwindle to 1/20th what it was at launch.

We do not have a clue how the end game of Rift is at all.  It still has no guild banks.   Some combat animations are the suck.  Melee combat sounds are the worst of any game I have ever played.  That is just a few concerns.   There are many more.   Yet the fans of this game will not let anyone in the least bit critic it at all.  Say one thing that is even the least bit of a criticism and they are on you like flies to poo.

 Sounds to me like you just dont like the game what you expect , its really no differant than here.

Played the first 2 betas but can not for the life of me log into the 3rd one just no real interest.

However, even if Rift gets around 400K to 500K that is more than enough population to keep the future content rolling. Not all MMOS need 1 mill or 12 mill subs to be a success.

Thats about the number i had in mind 400-500 k and if they can keep that base for a while rift will do alright.

Lets remember games like wow and eq2 have been out 6 years and they have got better with time as most games do .

I havent found a MMO that would form as tight knit communities as was with UO, EQ1 and DAoC and I blame soloers for it. People demanded to be spoon-fed everything and end result was the current era of MMOs that are little more than singleplayer RPGs with integrated chatroom built in it.

 

 Hmm sounds like your just looking for someone to blame other than yourself any game i play there is lots of grouping and no one being antisocial.

Plus eq and uo are over 10 years old so yes people playing the games have changed because they /we have been playing for that long and you can never go back to your first mmo experiance is just not the same.

The notice was given over three hours before the giveaway was done. Not sure where you got the 10 minutes from.

Yeah you gave notice to sit and hit F5 for an indefinite period of time. You in no way said when it would happen. Your handling of the entire thing from the first giveaway to the change in format on this one has been flawed and poorly handled.

We tried giving a specific time as an experiment in the previous series of giveaways and it only resulted in such a massive amount of camping that the site briefly crashed. Giving you a heads up that it was happening today was a fair compromise. After all, we could have just posted it up randomly, and then you'd have really missed your chance!

 You cant win people will always be mad at something .
