As the Wildstar devs would say, "Suck it up, buttercup." This might not be the easy mode lobby game some of you are looking for. That's fine. You have plenty of other options if you don't enjoy a challenge or large scale cooperative pve. Not every game will be for.everyone, but at least wildstar gives the people like me a place to go for such content.

Eh? How exactly are you going to see mid game and end game at early levels (20 is simply where your skills start to build up). Mmorgs are not single player games where you see the gameplay at level 1.

Then why can't I start at level 20 if 1-19 serves no purpose?

It does server a purpose. It introduces you to the game, the new combat systems, and also serves as a tutorial for those that haven't played MMORPGs before. Yea, those people still exist, and certainly wouldn't keep playing a game if it threw them into content designed for veteran MMORPG players.

Not sure if this is directed at me or not, I have capped 2 chars and have other mid 30s, done the dungeons and vets, IMO the game doesn't become more in depth, it just gets harder if you are not playing it right as you get into the higher levels. But that doesn't change that its the same game even at early levels, if you play it right at early levels for instance things go way faster, like you can level to 10 in like 2-3hrs, if you are not though, it will take maybe 5-6hrs or something crazy.

Yea we totally believe you.

I did not watch EVERY stream or feature video, but what i saw so far was always PvP or raids featured, while PvE was always just talk.

"yes yes, as to PvE we will do this and we will have that... but now make sure to check out our new raid video and awesome PvP clip!"

So i guess that is their focus.

Raids and dungeons main focus of the game... Where's the pve!? [mod edit][

So you say you love end game, The road to end game, and character progression... But you just dissmiss a game in with only 8 hrs of play session?

If you would really love end game like you say you would be drooling with what these guys have in store.

Also this is not a review, if anything is a first impression on noob zone. Way to go champ.

Everquest let slip Planes of War back prior to PoP, delivered content nearly 10yrs later.

Age of Conan- Promised ship to ship combat at release, failed

Planetside 2- Promised outfit/guild base ownership.Failed

Shall I go on? How many broken promises until gamers realize developers will tell you one thing then deliver something different. How many times does a promise need to be broken, before you stop taking what is said at face value and start judiging a game on what it has 100% right now.

You should absolutely take WS for what it currently is. That said, the difficult and rewarding raiding is already there. You just haven't given the game a chance. Do you really think that running around getting kicked by snakes for the first week of EQ was the part that drew people in? No, it was seeing other players with their Fungi Tunics and Wu Sticks and looking forward to progressing their skills Nd gear to get to that point. Mmorpgs were never about being the hero the first time you log in, you need to build and grow to that. As someone who played EQ and claims to be old enough to think reasonably, I'm surprised this evades you.

Level 10??? I could not play it to see level 2 and you don't need certain level to judge if you like a game or not.

This is very true if your a vet. mmo player it shouldn't take you 20 lvl's to know if you like a game or not. Thats just a lame excuse to say you need to be a certain lvl to judge what a game is. I never bought into that line at all.

If you are a vet mmo player the first 10-20 levels weren't designed with you in mind at all. They are there to teach people the game and how mmorpgs work, which is why those levels always seem so boring to vet mmorpg players.

As writers will tell you, If you can't grab your readers attention in the first paragraph, they may never pick up the book again. Same is pretty much true for anything - if you cant grab the persons attention in the first few minutes, it doesn't matter how awesome the story becomes in chapter 10, you just might lose them forever.

MMOs are no exception. If the first few levels are dull as hell, regardless if its just a tutorial, people will walk away and never look back. Not many people would have sat through the first 30 minutes of Die Hard if it was John getting dressed and tying his shoes.

There's a difference between movies or books and mmorpgs though. Mmorpgs require input from the user. It's like teaching someone how to skateboard by throwing them down a half pipe. More exciting ? Sure. But they are probably going to fail miserably and never go back either. The thing with mmorpgs is that they don't have to keep all the players on the first go. Some might get bored after questing to lv 5, but they will be back when they hear about the things their friends are doing that stuck with it.

wildstar is just the same themepark mmo with a different skin. It might be a big hit if it comes out 5-10 years ago. Its too late now. Ppl are sick of wow-style mmo.

Way to stick with the game through the first quest. Enjoy whatever game you are currently playing!

If all Wildstar brings to the table is super hard end game raiding (as suggested in a couple of posts in this thread) then it is going to crash and burn very quickly because that is a very tiny niche market.

That's all it adds. And semi hardcore raiding. And dungeons. And battlegrounds. And arenas. And warplots. And the most extensive housing system mmorpgs have ever seen. And off planet adventures. And solo progression for those that want it. And crafting. And side classes. And raid quests to upgrade weapons. So very little to do.

What are side classes?

Not sure what they are technically called, but like Explorer scientist settler or soldier.

This works!
This is silly. Of course they are going to think it is the best game out there, they created it! Why would it be desperation to take pride in a great product that you developed? What did you want them to say, "This game is pretty horrible, but at least not as horrible as ESO?"

I don't think the game is "the best" at anything it does, but it's still a pretty complete package with lots of love in its details. Like the game or not, but it has soul.

Anyway the EU servers were all low, except for one that went to medium later in the evening. I guess by now everyone who was/is interested in the game already had enough chance to get an impression on the previous weekends and there wasn't a huge run on the EU servers.

"It's the best MMO, jump in and prove us wrong"... what is wrong about the game (UI, performance, classes/bugs, amps, starting areas and more) has been posted in and out on the forums and to a certain part been ignored by the "devs who are listening".

Except that if you actually played / payed attention to the game, you would see that the UI was already completely rehauled, the performance is continually being optimized, and the housing truly is the best out of any mmorpg to date.

" Best MMO" might be a stretch to proclaim right off the bat, but all of their other points are not really arguable.

Best raids, best housing, first true mount customization, and a years worth of content already in the pipes. Sounds pretty good to me.

Based on what you are looking for, I would try a single player game.
You can't release a single player game with slight and buggy co op for $60 + sub + cash shop and wonder why people are upset. It's the worst Elder Scrolls game to date, uses dated task spam methods for levelling, and calls itself an mmorpg yet makes grouping so frustrating via phasing that you are better off playing solo. So yea, don't blame the consumer when they don't want to pay for garbage.

From what I gathered, there is a solo progression line as well. Also, Crafting, PVP, and a housing system you could play as a game by itself.

Will you get as good of gear soloing as you would in 40 mans? I sure would hope not, but as long as it allows you to progress in the solo mode then you are all set. Maybe even some day casuals will realize that it doesn't take 10 hours to run a raid group.

You have two options :

Take a year off of MMORPGs before every WoW Expansion.

or

Play one of the many newer games that are 10x better and actually put some effort into their games.

The choice is yours!

This is the worst and most incorrect post / statement I have ever read in my entire life. ESO is nothing like EQ1 and should not even occupy the same sentence as such. Mayong Mistmoore is rolling over in her grave at the thought.
If it has, I haven't noticed it. I don't feel these games appeal to the same playerbase really. Tons of people in all areas on Excalibur since 2.2 launch.
