Its one of the Great ones.  Its easily got as much content as CoH first did and pretty much ever other MMO thats been out in the last 5 years.  I am having a blast myself.  My guild has been inviting "Good" people to the supergroup.  Its getting pretty big now.  Its only had a minor bump almost a week after launch.

WOW troll is trolling.  At least I wasn't the only one who thought this its already reported.

I did not play OB but i have played City of Heroes/Villains (Issue 1-10), this game fell below the radar for me since i was burnt out from city of heroes and i was more interested in the other big release coming out at the end of the world. But since i saw this game at Steam couple days back figured i will give it a shot while i wait for Aion's release. Lets get to the review

Pros

+Character customization is great, surprised they caught up with how much CoH/V offers on release.
+Quests are better than CoH with some voice overs. Public quests are used appropriately compared to WAR.
+Combat is fast paced

+Loot and crafting something CoH did not have.
+Did not run into any major issues (getting stuck, broken quests etc)

Cons

-Zones are instanced way too much, it kills community since each zone typically has only 20-40 players.
-Cell shading/graphics doesn't look good even CoH looks better in some aspects compared to this.
-Some parts of map look ok while others look bland.
-Voice overs are terrible.
-Mobs are close and re-spawns are too much (i.e the ghost zone by Witchcraft was impossible to move around with acrobatics without spawning a ton of Master villains)

Overall if you are into super hero games/casual MMO player. You should definitely give it a shot but don't expect it to have as much content or game play value as WoW. From what i saw player community seemed helpful and since there is only shard it should mean there is always some one around to play with and there is no problem of being in underpopulated servers.

Got laugh at people who don't know what there talking aobut.

Can tell this person didn't get out of the starter areas since the main zones go up to 100.  Cell shading can be easily turned off in options.  CoH doesn't even come close to looking this good.  Voice overs ARE great.  One of the best things about the game.  Mobs are close sure its very hard trying to find monsters in the early areas.

WoW I consider to be one of the worst games in history.  Ok AoC is worse but not by much.

Sounds good.  I know on my main I wouldn't take Laser Vision pump ups as much as I did.  =)  Everything else I don't need a Respec for.  Its all good.

 CO does everything else better

1. Better skill system

Arguably CO gives you ability to mix and match , and has Block skill.

But all CO skills are more or less - blaster&scrapper skills. While COX has upper hand on real variety of roles.

2. More defined roles

In CO you can be everything. This may be fun but is not promoting inter player dependancy.

3. Too Solo oriented

Its plus or minus, depends on your oppinion

4. Lack of random missions

Instead of capitalising on great asset. And improving random missions. CO removes them almost completely

5. No mission editor

6. Much less content

7. Much more bugs

8. Questionable graphic

Again mather of taste. In my oppinion COX graphic is better ( naturally it lacks all 3.0 shader bells and whistles...but artistically its better)

My opinion

1) Far Better skill system

2) Undefined rolls is a plus for me.  There is no roles.

3) Solo Orientated Except for the Master Villains as of last patch.

4) Lack of Random Missions until you hit level 15.  I don't know how many times I have to help citizens and get a email from Socorates saying they need my help.

5) No mission editor thats a plus because everyone powerlevels off of the Mission editor.

6) Less content ( which I admitted)

7) About the same amount of bugs.  There is not that many.

8) Graphics are easily better FAR FAR better.

Interesting about the mission editor because alot of people think that was a great addition to CoX.  With the limited content in CO, I would think a mission editor would be very welcome.

You also mentioned earlier that CoX had a better character creator, which to everyone I've talked to about CO mention the exact opposite (CO has the better one, more options).

Mission Editor is great if it didn't have EXP to it Or just a exp for the size of the mission and type of mission.  To many people just powerlevel from that.  That to me, isn't fun.  Also I hated only having 3 Mission up.

CoX has more character types.  You get more options in CO but CoH has more models.  =)  Thats why I said in a patch or 2 CO will have more models.  =)

All i have to say to the nerd rage quitters and rerollers ... hahhaha!    I'll be enjoying the game with my slightly gimped char nd when the free retcon hits baboom.

Is that really proving something to them?  Is it really?

Nope it won't, they will still troll the boards.  Best thing to do is to put them on ignore and not recognize them.

At this point right now, it better than CoX or just a 'pretty' looking version of it?

Main reason why CoX players should switch to CO?

Discuss

There is only 2 things CoX has over CO.

1) A SLIGHTLY better Character Creator.  (it has has 5 years of add ons.  CO will beat this is a update or two)

2) More zones to explore.  (Again CoX has had 5 years to add more zones.  CoX had 10 zones at the start and 4 were hazard areas.  CO has 5 zones but they are 4 times bigger then CoX largest zone.  More zones is not always a good thing WoW has lots of areas but its not a better game.)

Nice cant see this being a problem, they did it with COX.

There will, of course, be idiots complaining about it.  CoH has had 3 a year.  It wouldn't surprise me if they dropped it back to that.  Which means 1 every 4 months.

I can play Lotro and EQ2 on Max settings im sure my comp can handle this comic / cartoon styled game.

Xald you play CO?

If you say so.... Not all game engines perform equally. LotRO and EQ2 are quite old now.

If you think that CoX sucked and you thought CO closed beta sucked, then you probably shouldn't waste your time.

Exactly my old computer that played CoH very well could handle LoTR and EQ2 but there is no way it could handle CO.

If you can play AoC or WAR on the Medium settings then you can play this game.  If you can play those on low setting you might be able to play the game.

When I was in closed beta IN July there was hardly any lag.

If you thinked CoH/V sucked please don't try the game.

So everyone pretty much figured out they can't aggro several groups at once.  Instead they have to fight one group at a time.  Which is a better way for the game.

First off my Main is stuck at level 31 with absolutely no Missions left to do anywhere. I have done every mission up to this point and yet no missions left for me. You would be shocked to learn how many players are stuck at this same point and posting on the forums and yet a Dev hasn't commented on it yet.

Knowning this I still went out and picked up my pre-order from gamestop yesterday in hopes that they would do something to get my character unstuck with a launch day patch because it seemed like a really big issue to many. So I log in after entering my retail key and yeah there's a patch, but are the handful of bugged missions fixed? Nope.... Everyone in Zone chat is furious about their healing and damage being nerfed by 50%.

Once again players winning and QQing on the official forums "Game is too easy" "I level too fast" led to this, and I hope they all use munitions (Which was already weak before the nerf but now is laughable) heavy builds and can't do instances meant for soloing now without getting a group and can't find a group so they basically are stuck to reap the benefits of their crying and what it had done to the game

Also, casual players who cry and whine about the fears of not getting 6 months out of leveling a character to max level please note the cause and effect of constant QQing on the forums leads to. First we had the huge XP nerf which was a result of players crying they were leveling too fast the effect of this a major progression breaking  XP nerf throughout the game during OB. Then we have the constant QQing over "This game is too easy" "OMG I can pull 50 mobs at once and not die" and it leads to yet another progression breaking 50% nerf to all powers.

So learning now that Cryptic doesn't do things in moderation or well thought out  or even tested for that matter before they change things they just make knee jerk reaction over extreme changes to the game at the first hint of someone even slightly mentioning that it's 'easy' to do something to get to level 40. Also on a final note one of the developers made a post in regards to the power/healing nerf and it was basically done because rate of progression in leveling NOT because they were simply overpowered that's why everything got nerfed instead of nerfing the obviously overpowered powers.

Yeah I am at the same point there is a break in Missions from 30 to 33.  Level 34 there are missions again but they are way to hard now.  I can get those level 34 missions.

Everyone in zone chat just seems to be wanting to group togethor.  There were really no complaints.  I switched to my level 23 to level him up.  The game before the nerf was way to easy.  Sorry its true.  Within 24 hours of game play I have a level 31 and a 23.  I did it all by soloing the content without any problems, that is to easy.

As of right now I also noticed that powers at lower levels seem to have no problem.  I tried my level 11.  I raised up from 9 yesterday.  Everything seems to be working the way it should.  It just seems the high level characters feel gimped because we were use to playing that way.  I don't have anyone in the teens to check out how it feels so I can't comment on that.

I felt the powers had been nerfed way too much in the last beta days already, so I decided to wait what happens. Seeing they nerf the powers even further this game left my watched list now. A pity. They just have zero clue how to make a fun game in so many ways.

And do they reply? They never intended player chars to be so powerful. Oh, great NOW you think of this? Bit late, innit? Combat was the only fun thing in this game, and making it tiresome and weak is kinda the most stupid thing I can imagine people doing with CO. This is SO going to sink.

The moment DCUO comes out, this game is history!

Sure SOE had it's fair share of screw ups, but Cryptic really spans the crown yewel on this one. How to turn a very fun game into a chore.

A First person shooter with superheroes won't even come close to taking out a real MMORPG.  So far Cryptic hasn't done anything wrong.

And this has what to do with Champions online?  Thought so, its just stupidity torwards one guy.

Have to say the power builds now act like they should.  I could handle +6 level and not sweat it.  Now I can handle +3 level and have a hard time.  If I aggro another group I am dead.  So its good to have a game be a good game.  Although Close Combat now really sucks.  They need to fix that.  Plain and simple.

So I ran over to Gamestiop to pick up my CO pre-order and the guy who works there told me about a customer who came in.

This customer pre-ordered 3 copies of CO (Himself, Wife, Son) and stated they all got life time subs. That is over $750 US. That is a ton of money for one game. Could almost buy a big screen TV for that.

Lets see. I know me and the wife got our lifetime subs.  I also know a friend of mine and his wife got there lifetime sub.  Thats 4 that I know of.  =)  Personally I don't see anything wrong with it.

I've said this before, but I think it bares repeating.

For those of us who are not comfortable with the lack of disclosure on what is planned to be placed in the MT shop, we simply need to wait. There is no need for prophets of doom or fanataics of delusion. I am certainly uncomfortable with Cryptic's behaviour since Atari became part of the picture, but there is not enough there yet for me to completely rule this pricing model out. Nor is there enough there yet for me to support it. Buying a lifetime sub for this game at this stage blows my mind with as risky an endeavour as this project is. But that is my perception. Others will enjoy the game now. I will save a few bucks while they enjoy it. I will benefit from their findings in game and make my decision to purchase based on that.

See you added "that is my perception".  It is your opinion but your not trying to force it on anyone.  =)  The exact can be said also, as an opinion.

The problem with the patch is that they took away the superheroic feel of the game and degraded all their "superheroes" to people who hides in fear of adds and try and try and try to maximise a situation to survive.

Not my idea of what a superhero should be about.

Yes fights against super villains should be difficult, but when did spiderman have to run and hide from 3 thugs because they kicked his behind?

Agreed they should have upped the number of attacking henchmen to 6-10. that way I could feel more heroic beating up 10 guys instead of 3.

Thugs run and hide from Spiderman. If they chased after him they may know something on how to take him down. Plus, Spidey generally ONLY goes after the BIG BAD GUY

See thats the difference between a game and the comic.  To make the game fun those 3 guys should be tough but beatable.  If you get 6 guys you should be thinking OH CARP I am gonna die.

I do have to say one thing though.  Close Combat did not need a nerf.  If that got nerf then that is a problem.  =)

Sorry there was a lot of things that needed a nerf bat to it.  I can still play my character.  Sure I can't take on +5 level guys to me thats good.  I want a little challenge.
