Just to reiterate a point I made in a prior post: I NEVER had an EQ or EQ2 subscription on the account the email was sent to. |

Just some facts about my account that I got the email on: -Started account for SWG back when it was in beta. Quit in Jan, 2004. -Never had an EQ or EQ2 subscription on the account. -Played Vanguard in beta and 1st month after launch. Cancelled at about 40 days after launch. -Resubbed to SWG after I quit Vanguard, cancelled that after about 50 days. -Account was completely inactive since April of this year.

I just got an email saying the following: "thanks for playing Vanguard....SOE would like to offer you a FREE copy of EQ2 including the first 3 expansions and first 3 adventure packs...and play for free until 11:59PM September 15th 2007" Official from Sony, so its legit. Also said my account was already flagged with this offer, so it appears no credit card or activation is required. I quit Vanguard shortly after the first 30 days, not sure if this offer applies to all former Vanguard players. |

So, using your philosophy towards unreleased games, you could also say: "Star Trek Online sucks" "World of Starcraft will fail" "SWG2 is horrible" These statements make no sense...because you haven't played them. Watching umpteen videos and reading posts in an open forum will never give you a proper view of a game in closed beta. The "Core Testers" for G&H have their own private forum to discuss the game with each other and the developers. Details can't be discussed elsewhere, so what you've read is heresay. |

Why do people think the 'M' rating will change things??

We all know that Funcom will probably add some type of nude/gore filter options, making the rating obsolete. |

How is the game? Worth all the trouble? |
|

I would say Not.
They dumbed the game down to appeal to a younger crowd. Its a completely different game. I left before Jump to Lightspeed and resubbed earlier this year. I played my OG Jedi (was a Knight pre-NGE, level 80 when I logged in) and crafted for about a month and cancelled. Every starport and cantina is empty. You may run into some people on Bria or Ahazi, but still its empty compared to the good 'ol days. There are no Pre-CU official servers.
Since they increased the PVE difficulty with Chapter Six, you need a group for any difficult mobs. Since finding a group is a rarity, they basically killed the chance of getting high end loot. And high end loot weapons are the only weapons worth using anymore, especially for PVP...which consists of 12 year olds trash talking with extremely uber gear.
Crafted weapons and armor suffer from item caps, meaning that even if crafters use the "server best" resources, they can only get a certain amount of damage, which is lower that their previously mentioned looted counterparts.
The game does have one good thing going for it. If you like to mindlessly craft Structures or Clothes, then it may be worth coming back. The harvesting system works the same way as it used to. This game still has the best resource harvesting and crafting system for MMOs. Too bad that most of the crafting professions are pointless.
Just to give you perspective of the type of player I am, I'm "older" at 32, have played almost every game out there. DaOC (2yrs), SWG (1.5yrs), WoW(2 yrs), and have been bouncing around trying everything. Right now I have the following games installed and play each whenever I feel like it: 9Dragons (free) Anarchy Online (froob) A beta MMO I can't discuss due to NDA
We're all waiting for AoC, Warhammer, Gods & Heroes, Tabula Rasa, PotBS, and whatever other MMO claiming to be out in the next 6 months.
Hope this was helpful. |

Guarantee: Turbine will announce ONE million active subscibers worldwide for Lord of the Rings Online with-in the next 30 days
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/13/07 10:59:48 AM
Good for Turbine, but honestly I could care less. I played from pretty early in Closed Beta and the game isn't for me.
If they have one Million subs by mid-august, that number will go down by 50% by December due to upcoming MMO releases. |

Another kid mad at the mature rating. |

I'm playing this casually, its pretty good for a F2P game. I picked League of Beggars, and just learned the basics of Drunken Boxing. The animations are pretty cool, and fun to play. Only downside is the grind. |

What about a Dark Tower MMO? Have epic questlines with doors to different times and worlds. |

Poseidon is a Greek god, who is known in Roman mythology as Neptune. I think the following two are more Rogue-ish.
Portunes- god of keys, doors, and livestock Proserpina - Queen of the Dead and a grain-goddess
Still, I wouldn't keep your hopes up for a Rogue class. |

Nice article. One correction though, Gladiators are not the "tank class of the game". Soldiers are the tanks, Gladiators are more of a DPS class. |

I tried to watch these videos last night, but got an IGN "sorry" unavailable page for each video. I watched some other videos on the site just fine. |

Best necro I've seen in a while. |

Gladiator is supposed to have a "combo point" type system also, and be able to wear heavier armor. |
