I personally know that Darkfall is doing good because of last night,

We go down to a dungeon north of Mirdain lands, where there are Matayins, and Revenants, and a Veilron chest. When we first load in we hear people farming the matayins, then they kept changing rooms they'd go to, and go back to the matayins. So the two of us kill those two, loot the 5 runestones (three of which marked in the dungeon muahaha), gold, and regs and shit, then hear buffing back at the entrance..

We go to the entrance, there's two more people to kill, so we kill them, loot them, and decide to send me back to bank with all the loot and then ill just stone back in.

I immediately start recalling with 5 mounts, 5 runes, 12k gold, four battle bags from the people we slaughtered. I get 3/4 done, when a group of 4 enter the dungeon, and the first one to hit me uses a polearm, moves me back, and cancels the recall.

Needless to say they killed us both and got 4x the lewtz!

Just a story in lesson #1: "If it's not in your bank, it's not yours."

EDIT:  Hotspots, use em. Darkfall is alive.

I agree, character customization leaves MUCH to be desired in Darkfall.

So much more than an "Action based EVE."  And I'd say so much more than "territorial based", atleast in my opinion. Been having a ball fighting over sea towers, raiding cities, bein' a dog'on pirate and cap'ing village points.

I just experienced an idiotic happening as well..

I was farming ogre bosses or whatever they're called with full plate chest, scale, and a transmuted ice greataxe, when I see a raft in the distance, I kindof duck around a rock and finish off the ogre, when I notice a NAKED human jump off and despawn it, and come running towards me.

He heard the fighting, and I could see him crouch-walking towards me, and go behind a rock. So I continue fighting so he doesn't run, and as soon as I am about to finish it he charges me.. naked... with a newbie greataxe.

Needless to say, thanks for the raft and the horse. :)

P.S. If you're going to carry a raft and mount, why not wear some gear and some not great, but atleast not newbie weapons?

Not that I macro, but if I did, I wouldnt do it in a player house. Funny ass story though, Prof!

I hate how there's no house slots anywhere. :(

I was that guy once.   Went out looking for PvP solo and ended up in the Ork lands when I first started playing again.  I accidentally rode too close to a wilderness bank that had a tower, ended up getting zapped right off my mount.  Some lucky noob probably found my fully healed mount parked neatly next to my grave full of loot.  The door definitely swings both ways.

Haha I have done that as well in Alfar lands, trying to go to a revenant spawn for the vitality quest. /wavegoodbye crafted full plate/plate and 140 dura rank 40 axe. :)

These whine posts about nothing to do are so frustrating. Go out and look for something to do, don't expect your clanmates to throw shit in your lap whenever they telepathically hear that you are down for some excitement. Organize it yourself, if you've played for 5 months and haven't done anything but kill goblins, you should probably just quit.

If you can't handle the grind (and trust me I do not fault you for that) then this might just not be the game for you man.

EDIT: I as well am not a huge fan of grinding, as I work, have classes four days a week, and have a girlfriend to tend to, but going out and being active in PvP with a clan makes me want to work that much harder when I do have the chance to grind skills out.

If you cut off the second chin you most definitely have yourself an alfar!

First off, I'm definitely going Mahirim for race. I usually like the more nature/druidic-related races but the Mirdain seem a little uptight so may as well go feral. But a few questions: are all the races created equal or does each race have specific traits and disadvantages e.g. "Elves are good with bows but suck at melee," or the like? And is there a language barrier in game?

 No language barrier, no skill advantages, but races start with different stats. E.G. Mahirim, Orks, and Dwarves have a health advantage starting, but lower mana than say an Alfar.

 

As to skills off the Darkfall wiki:

Melee: I like the sound of polearms, GSwords, or swords. SIthra sound interesting but also sound rare and possibly OP. And the wiki is vague on the pros and cons to these weapons so any clarification on that is welcome.

Sithras are very rare elemental weapons that are extremely hard to level up, seeing as how you can't use lower level of the weapons for pure skill gains then go out and PvP with the "good" ones. Greatswords seem to be the most used at the moment, as they are fast swinging and have good damage. Polearms hit the hardest but are also the slowest swinging. Needless to say, go with what you want, you do however need to have a 1handed skill and a 2handed skill. 1handers are only used in mount fighting or for equipping a shield and "parrying up".

 

Ranged: I've never liked focusing on bows and I don't plan on being any different in this game. I much prefer magic and the skills of WItchcraft and Earth Magic sounds to my liking. But not knowing game mechanics: is the bow actually useful and worth spending time leveling? Is concentrating on those two magic skills useless i.e. is it better to have one offensive skill one defensive and one healing? And is a melee/caster build at all effective or is there not enough attribute distribution and will I need to specialize more?

Most(all) players use archery every now and there because there are a billion times where you will find yourself needing to shoot someone in the face.

 

Craft: Alchemy, tailoring, and construction catch my eye but this is one area I'd like some advice in. What skill is truly useful in game to my character or to just people in general? Like what would sell or benefit a clan?

Anything is useful, I don't make anything but my arrows and rank 0 weapons for skilling up.

 

General skills: I don't know if these are worth mentioning but my question about them is do I need to specialize in these skills too or having them all as high as possible best?

You generally get these and they level as you go.

Put a space after you use a period. ( --->  .  <--- this is a period)

But as many others have said, SOE makes cards that are available for all of their games, just check the card and it will say on it plain as day if you can use it for an EQ2 subscription.

Sentinel's Fate will not have an Open Beta test you will have to wait until it goes live.

Should have a better staff (blackbolt - they are cheap as hell to make), and don't wear metal armor if you're going to be primarily shooting magic!

Player collision is a good thing, but there has to be a practical solution for this... To start with, does it really make sense for a bunch of people to be able to box in a massive demon or a dragon? Not really... They'd just get stepped on as the thing moves past them.

 

 

 

Hopefully they'll get around to fix this at some point, once PvP is tweaked a bit more...

Actually the "very hard" mobs you don't do this to. Examples being dragons, kraken, devils.

BTW when you were loading back in to the hamlet last night when they were beating down the stone, my eyes went red thinking it was an enemy loading back in lol.. I was so excited. :(
