theres a hell of a lot of mecha based anime out there, some of it is awesome, some is a bit meh, but theres a lot of IP resourcing available to a dev studio that dared to be brave

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, a Mecha MMO, if done right,  would be nerdgasmic! As for the Secret world i believe it does blend elements of sci-fi in it like the lovecraft books; If I recall correctly the blending of sci-fi, horror, and fantasy was coined by him as "wierd fiction".

I just want to know if this game can deliver to people that are not necessarily a fan of the franchise like myself (not that i think its bad, just I'm pretty unfamiliar with the FF games).

This is upsetting, this game really showed promise for a free to play title too..I guess it will just never be...

i swear to god you could port all things in EVE to mechwarriors, have the same mechs do the same thing as the ships in EVE but now you have to code an actual background. I think it could be done.

I've read a few posts/articles around the web concerning this very idea, I think that would be sick as hell..but didn't the mechwarrior franchise die? Don't think any games are gonna come out for it anymore now that they canceled mechwarrior 5.

Yeah I have heard about this, but the problem is the western style mechs just aren't cutting it out for me, it looks like the wind can topple them over. I'm imagining something more Armored Core like maybe or idk. But these chicken legged walkers..there just..bleh.

Ok, so here's my pitch and I'm so sure that it'll be a wowkiller that I won't listen to anyone who points out why it won't be a smash hit.

Anyone with half a brain already knows that POWER RANGERS would make the best, most amazing, coolest MMORPG ever made.  It's such a blueprint for win that even SoE couldn't screw THIS one up. 

Reason 1: I like it and think it's cool, so it's the best thing since sliced bread and we'll all play it.  You know you want to play it, even if you personally didn't like POWER RANGERS and thought it was complete crap, as a MMORPG you'd play and realize just how right I am.

Reason 2: POWER RANGERS is a huge smash media hit right now and even tho it takes years to develop a game even close to worth playing, the hype will still be as strong as ever when it's ready for release because POWER RANGERS is just so amazing.

Reason 3: The setting of POWER RANGERS has such a rich, fulfilling, lore and history that it would provide endless options for the devs to branch off into expansions, new quest lines, uber kick ass items from the ancient times of POWER RANGERS, new races and such.  This is proven in POWER RANGERS where in the tv show they always have an exciting event happening and it often has to do with someone's past, the resources of a location, the political motivations of good vs evil or the price of cheese.   It's almost as if it's been scripted, that's how perfect it is.

Reason 4: After reaching max level you can be all hardcore and awesome and take part in the awesome events from the tv show and kick some ass for the side you choose.  For instance you could be a POWER RANGER and for doing so you could even get a SEXY JUMPSUIT or a kick ass IN A GIANT ROBOT like in the existing IP.  Isn't that cool?  No?  I'm not listening to you!!!!

Reason 5: POWER RANGERS is just the coolest thing ever and you HAVE to agree with me about it or you're a fuking forum trollz and you don't know what a boobie looks like and I did your mom.  Yeah, now you agree with me right.

Reason 6: By this point nobody's even reading this rampant fanboi'ism so here's more filler to make my OP look like everyone should think they should make a MMO based off this IP.

I couldn't stand to tarnish the good name of GUNDAM on that template...but oh how I wish an mmo of it would come out!

 Really hope this game comes thru, I'm very very glad to hear about the FPS part of the game. If you take a game like fallen earth and try out its fps, it has always felt wierd and a little chopy. Hopefully it does come out as fluid as in the single player FPS games as they said

I agree with Allods, Warhammer, Darkfall except it might not have fast enough gains for you.

Are you trying to say that only place that has no hackers is a singleplayer game? Cuz in MMOs, there arent hackers... period. Ive never encountered one, and its not even really possible. With the server protections, you will get banned in a blink of an eye with hax, and not only that but I think that is a crime.

In free to play pvp oriented games your are much more likely to encounter hackers than in pay to play ones honestly. Actually some pay to play ones like aion too I believe.

Although you stated your reluctant against WoW, the pvp in there is great compared to alot of other MMOs. You also don't have to do squat in PvE in that game if all your care about is pvping..except for leveling. If still no, then WAR? i guess.

 Yeah your asking for Allods Online right there, I'd imagine you'll find trouble looking for another thats free.

 You seem like the type that would probably like EVE online, I've heard that the game's pvp is unforgiving. But expect a steep learning curve, thats what made me stop playing after the trial but nonetheless if your looking for a sandbox pvp oriented game you should give EVE a try. Also it does probably have one of the better communities in the mmo genre.

P.S. the combat is point and click, which was also a big turnoff for myself but thats just me.

I'd have to say I'm rather afraid; all these new fps big titles coming out just don't catch my attention I fail to see whats so special about them..then again its just me..but I'd be disapointed if blizzard did make it a call of duty mmo.  Again it's just me, not calling these games trash, but i think leave the hardcore fps games like call of duty and modern warfare for consoles and out of the mmorpg genre.

 Closed beta on an international level or just for korea? If its on the international scale..where do i sign up?! i've been dying for a more fast paced game to play.

I guess maybe someone hypersensitive could read some racist undertones in some of Lovecraft's work, but that strikes me personally as kind of ridiculous. It's more of a compilation of short stories than a series of novels, and to be honest a lot of the derivative work by his many fan authors (like August Derleth and Ramsey Campbell) are just as good to read. Chaosium has some great compilations of both Lovecraft's work and works derived from his Cthulhu Mythos... plus some of the more popular authors that have written in the Cthulhu Mythos have many published works that you should be able to find just about anywhere.  Google it! 8)

 Not to strave off the topic too much but..how is the Cthulu mythos series? Been very curious about it since I've been told they are great mysteries/horrors but also dismayed by the fact that some friends pointed out the Author wrote with racists overtones or something. Is that true?
