Release this to western audiences already >.< . Sometimes if your a big enough fan of an IP or series you'll still play it no matter how bad it is :/ . This same company also works on Super Deformed Gundam Capsule Fighter Online, which is hugely popular in eastern Asia and i play it on a Taiwanese server. The game is a great pvp game IMO, I doubt this game will end up bad either.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt if you wish I will admit I'm a fan of anime in general like said Gundam series, and DBZ >.>

Simply put i stopped reading at "Overpowered Hero class?"  (okay no not really) if he knew what he was even really talking about then he wouldn't call it overpowered. IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING but that is no longer the case.

How could anyone call WoW unimaginable for what it has done? Yes it may be similar  to say EQ to some extent but at its launch it was ingenuity, it was still rather unique. This just looks like some of the same old ranting of a typical MMO veteran, times can change; but i see all this WoW bashing as rather misguided. How can he say WoW has been engineered to be addictive (not that it can't be) ? That could be said for every other MMO. I can refer you to a friend who gained 40 pounds via runescape. Addiction usually indicates underlying problems, say  abuse or relationship troubles.

Way to make it sound like a conspiracy, I think if you went on to a typical WoW player the most you'll be getting about change from him would be to bring something back like say World pvp, what is this face-lift bullshit hes blabbering on about?

Now on another note, it is also not blizzards fault that so many smaller companies decide to copy-paste their game into a bootleg style version and change its name (ala  Alganon [sp?]) . They want easy money, and thats the sole reason why the industry is going down. No ingenuity on their part. Maybe blizz hasn't done anything groundbreaking recently, but players like their game to generally stay the same. IF WoW lost any of its major factors and the game made some sort of huge 180,  then a huge chunk of the subscribers would cancel and ruin profits and thus ruining the game. I did say earlier times can change but it is not always necessary.

The fact that you need people for "so called heroic" dungeons is a factor of community. If you mean relationships the dude states it like its impossible to acquire them! The thing is the truth is absolutely on the contrary; friendships are inevitable in WoW. I'd also like to mention an example of an improvement to the "community problem" WoW faces..supposedly..Rated battlegrounds. You need to work together to win that at least. How could i also forget raids; if you want to excel at end-game pve you need a guild, and you need to work together. I feel the strongest aspect of community in WoW than i have in most other MMOs (the only other comparable I'd say is EvE or LotR).

Please give the ranting a res, there is no conspiracy going about, Blizzard is not the problem of the industry. Instead the blogger focused a little only on the real problem which is fucking farmville. You wanted to know what lack of ingenuity looked liked? Well it looks like farmville.

Omg, I hope they manage to succesfully implement this. Reading this it sounds amazing.

As someone that has played WoW since 05, I feel like its in a better position (PvE-wise) than it was back then. Also kiting kazzak from blasted lands to stormwind doesn't make it an encounter, it makes it a flaw with the game (technically speaking). Although what i really do miss is the huge world events like the AQ materials gathering and whatnot, and the World PvP. PvP now has become boring, annoying and repetitive. My focus after the first season of Arena in BC shifted from PvP to PvE. Hopefully cataclysm will change this with the reintroduction of the PvP ranking system again, after having failed to get two toons to rank 14 at the same time (-.- smart idea), and if world PvP becomes a bigger aspect than that shitty wintergrasp or the cata version of it then hopefully it will reignite some old flames.

Couple things with this paragraph: first, it wasn't a flaw. It was a creative use of game mechanics, point blank. Same with Az into Org. That's what made it FUN: it was creative, took effort to train a world boss that far. Unintended but achievable. Additionally, as someone who was focused on PvP and shifted to PvE, your preferences are clearly indicative of a lack of full knowledge of PvE throughout the years.

Now, PvE-wise, WoW is in much better shape and aiming to get even better. Admit it, 40 man raids were clunky, LOOOOOOOOOONG. It took an hour and a half to get from Magmadar to Garr, and looking back at it now that was fucking horrible. Unless you just miss those for the idea of being an elitist jerk, then w/e screw you. I do think that BC had a better balance of being able to get higher end epics than WotLK now. Just because a toon is geared for pve now doesn't mean he is any good at all..

Disagree entirely. It's being made smaller, and that is all it is being made. If smaller is your cup of tea, then sure, it's better by those standards. From a mechanical standpoint, you have less options of interesting mechanics the fewer people you have in your design. 40 man raids were long if you didn't know what you were doing. Full MC clears (before BWL came out) in under 3 hours by a non-server first guild at the time on a backwater server. So no, I personally don't miss it for being an elitist jerk, I miss it for the collective laughs we had while still being goal-oriented. And finally, your last two sentences are completely contradictory. As the game has progressed, PURPLES! have been made available to the masses, but yet their meaningfulness has declined, as you state with being 'geared' but 'no good at all'.

And the whole class system was horrible compared to now. What was the point of the bloody fucking balance tree for druids or the protection tree for paladins, survival tree for hunters and other specs, were not allowed to raid in most top end guilds in early WoW. If you were to ask to get an invite into a group as a balance druid, you would just get scoffed at, ignored, blacklisted and etc. The diversity WoW has nice in class specs is great. When I think of a paladin, I don't want to just think of a holy priest in plate and a shield, I also want to be reminded of a two-handed weapon wielding warrior of the light that face-rolls shit down.

Uh, this is completely false. Classes had their niches, their purposes. They were more unique then than now. The state of classes now is one that is completely homogenous, and will continue down that vein as Blizz strips stats down to a core few of four or five, further reducing the options of play within a class from gear. We had 3 survival hunters who did more DPS than the marks because of careful gearing and just a desire to play that way. We had 1 ret, 1 prot pally (quel and everything). We used a shadow priest when we had enough healers. As a druid, I was fully feral specced, yet healed. Mixing and matching of talent trees took place plenty. Just because Nihilum at the time advocated for 'purebred' specs didn't mean in the slightest that 1. they even knew what was right/wrong or 2. that it was right/wrong for your guild, your group, your composition. The beauty of things then were that roles were clearly defined, and people accepted the necessary evils of them. Counter-intuitively, it made for more options in the end.

Edit:

TL;DR VERSION:

But my point being, WoW as a whole I think is better, but PvP is seriously lacking the Oomph it once had that I held dear.

You reserve the right to think what you may, and you state as much. Regarding PvP: BG's were ok, arena is a disgusting, infected blister of a design. FOTM classes and comps are the ordre du jour, not skill, as can be evidenced through this dawg-awful 3rd best shaman team in the world. Not that r14 required skill, but it did require dedication.

Edit: if your profile is correct, you played this game in classic when you were 13. Being as that scientifically you haven't but only started to mature physically and mentally at that age, much of your credibility on points of view regarding classic is going to be greatly reduced.

Yes as you stated I was 13 at the time i started playing, but not necessarily raiding; I do believe once i entered high school i started raiding and by then had a basic understanding of simple algebra (which I think was enough to do well enough on a character in WoW :p). Although regardless; my experiences in PvE which went from MC, ZG, AQ 40/20, sadly BWL only up the second boss. I stopped raiding around the time Naxx 40 came out. Yes MC did last as little as 2 hours once the gear level increased and seen pugs reach up to majordomo by the time AQ was out (looking back now i think my server was pretty bad for PvE). As for your collective laughs in a 40 man raid, Ifound these to be limited to like 10-20 people in a raid; and it was disappointing, the friendly atmosphere of 5 mans and hell even the 20 mans back then were not as present in 40 mans for me, nor did i find this to be the case with the RL friends that accompanied me. Now concerning my statement on loot, i do like it that there is a greater accessibility to purples, but not that high end. Take BC for example, The best gear one could get at the end of the expansion were a few pieces of BT/Sunwell level gear, but limited to only a few if you only did a few pug raids and 5 man heroics. Getting badges for said gear was much more challenging and longer. The thing is that even these few pieces of Sunwell level gear and Zul'aman level gear was enough to make you competitive and help you keep up but not at the same level; not sure if you get what I'm trying to get across here, getting a little difficult to get into more detail.

Now looking at class homogeneity, I can yield to the point that raid composition was much more variegated back then which was a wonderful aspect of 40 man raids. But looking at a smaller group focus, this was just not the case. Once moonkin form was released, i was the happiest druid ever, the thought of having armor equal to that of a warrior and magic damage hopefully on par to that of a mage was great (plus just look at the critters! I still love them to this day). But trying to find groups as said spec was a nightmare, my DPS was mediocre, PvP was awkward. Now I understand the philosophy of durids was jack of all trades and master of none but the margin of difference to my counterparts was to great. The only reason i ever found myself into a raid was to give other casters the 3% crit bonus of moonkin aura back then or the generosity of my guild, and sometimes i had even less priority on rolls for caster items when up against mages. If i wanted to solo PvP i had to spec feral, if i wanted to do Hardcore PvE i had to spec resto. Also yes said specs were frequently present in raids, just not as prevalent either.

Beyond that i think we now delve into difference of opinion and gameplay preference.

Edit: Just not to double post but just curious, is anybody even really happy with the way AV is now? Old AV is one of the biggest things I miss from vanilla; the hour long battles, the epic idea of summoning giant elementals to fight by your side via the blood of your enemies, letting loose shredders and the windriders/gryphons, I think the closest they will ever get to simulating a taste of world pvp and realy epic battle in PvP was by old AV. I FUCKING HATE the new AV.

As someone that has played WoW since 05, I feel like its in a better position (PvE-wise) than it was back then. Also kiting kazzak from blasted lands to stormwind doesn't make it an encounter, it makes it a flaw with the game (technically speaking). WoW or RuneScape are great entry points to new MMO players (in my opinion).  RuneScape was my very first MMO, and Ill definitely say it set the ground for me moving into other MMOs.

I found myself in the same situation. Runescape is a great MMO to start off but its audience is relatively young (somewhere 10-13 ish I'd say). Also the world's most popular pay to play is World of Warcraft, its usually hard if you haven't heard its name been tossed around before. WoW is a great game to start off with a more mature audience.

TL;DR version:

World of Warcraft is your best bet. Easy to start off in, great story, great mechanics, helpful yet critical community.

Edit: Just wanted to add on another note, a "real" MMO definition isn't set in stone you bitter old tards. EvE is a good game but the learning curve is haaaaaaaarsh, not a good place to start off in as a fresh mmo-goer.

Alganon

short and sweet and we all know why..

god please let this be the Mecha MMO I've been praying for! And if its gundam, i will parade myself around miami naked with a golden V crest on my head.

You forgot Nexon dude, that imo is the best F2P company out right now. Good titles like Maplestory and dungeon fighters. I do believe they generally get involved within their game's communities so thats always good.

With the vast majority of the MMORPG.com community hating WoW for no good reason other than "its a theme park!" or "unbalanced class pvp!" or "i hate the race to endgame!" and i could go on. I fail to see the good sense in posting such polls here now, i bet if the people here actually read the posts by blizzards community team and devs, you can see the radical turn this game is taking on actually fixing the leveling process and actually making it a greatly enjoyable thing to do and not make the race to endgame as important. World of Warcraft is also an old game now, and they are going to re-balance the classes then by all means, stop being so god damn bitter about it. I really get tired of the old grizzled veterans from UO and EQ, yess i can say EQ was a good game, I've never tried UO but seriously? I know im beating a dead horse posting another hate on WoW haters thing but damn..all these negative posts.

/rage over

Also yes i will resubb, Cata looks very promising and following every leak and bit of info as well.

Making a MMO out of a well known IP is rather tricky at times, and the story of Avatar is rather linear too so I don't see how this will succeed very much unless they retcon the story a bit or base the MMO on when the humans first discover pandora.

I'd take that 75% employee loss with a grain of salt, rumors spread quite fast around MMO-goers. Although i could be wrong. But last i read, FE Was still doing rather well. But if you say a harsh learning curve is fine with you, then you can also give eve a shot. Although i must warn you, don't expect to just jump right into PvP, lvling your skills is time based( as in first lvl takes an hour, next level a day, last level a month to reach) and combat is rather slow paced, its all point and click. One more thing you can look into is Darkfall; although I'm not very familiar with it, i do believe it is a skill based MMO with FPS style game-play.

Kinda sucks, but I don't care as long as I get a necromancer as a class option.

I think you might enjoy Fallen Earth a lot. Its an FPS tied into a sandbox mmorpg with plenty of pve and pvp. As for someone just trying out MMOs, i would steer away from Eve unless your up for the very harsh learning curve it has to offer, and the slow paced combat (that right there killed it for me).

They simply take the World feel out of some mmos for me, i don't hate instances but their use should be limited. GW for example is instances everywhere! that game had absolutely no "massive" feeling in it for me. But consider say WoW, the territories aren't instances, only repeatable things such as dungeons and battlegrounds are. That didn't take away from the massive world feeling

If this game's first and foremost audience are Star wars fans, I probably won't play it. I'm not very familiar with the series and never really interested me. The game-play has to be amazing, the world would need to be seamless and the story line needs to be immersive explaining a lot of facts, or I'd be so lost.

I hear ya dude, there has been a lack of info for the past month and i thought they were opening the floodgates; I'm still wiaitng on a decent gameplay vid!

No dance studio we promised a few years back, but hey! your achievements in WoW will now show up on your facebook!

I hope when they mean Seamless they really mean seamless, i hated the loading screens in GW, too many and too long.

This game will definitely have zombies and plenty of them. This game will gather all of the superstitions from the past and present and mash them up. This game won't be a zombie MMO exclusively, but it certainly won't lack any. Heres hoping they also add in necromancer/necromantic spells you can learn.
