Definitely agree. I'm not trying this game just because of this cheap marketing tactic. It's more obvious then you think that it's multi accounts :D

During long runs I definitely hop around. I see many people do it so it's not a myth. Helps keep me from getting bored so I need it.

My dev team and I are doing just that right now. And believe me it costs a lot and we are only an Indy team. We are working on a style between runescape and eve online, except it's graphics standard is being set to present and not the past like RS in Java. We are bringing out the sandbox element everybody loves, esp. the way RS used to be in the past.

Personally I feel like it was a waste of an update. There was much larger things that need to be improved over this update which still hasn't done much to the graphics compared to what I hoped it would. That's Jagex for you.

There isn't much you will find from newer mmo games. They are all pretty much WoW clones. That's what's been happening to our industry. More money, less quality.

You might have good luck with Aion, but something tells me in the end it will be just like WoW with nothing really that different at all.

The entire sandbox idea to runescape is what I have always loved and esp. the quests. I have never played another mmo game that had quests like runescape that made you so excited to do, esp. with friends. If runescape was back to it's old ways, I would still say it's one of the best mmo games ever. But I can't say that anymore :[

Same here. I would have quit earlier but friends kept bringing me back. I love the older version of runescape, but know I don't know what this game is. It sure as heck isn't the runescape I knew and loved.

They are just killing the game I used to love even more. I hate anything to do with cash shops or micro transactions. I would much rather pay $15 per month. Stupid move on their part just trying to make more money and not caring about the community.

Haha that just made me laugh but it's oh so true. I know I do the same thing with my friends depending on what mmo games they start playing. I'm not sure why we do it but I don't think we can ever stop. It goes with the theme of pvp after all :D

I agree with you fully. I feel that microtransactions give away from the actual game. The devs decide how much they want to develop depending on how much they are making. If there cash flow runs to low, a new item is put in the shop. Where has all the real development gone to create an awesome game like back in the days. I rarely see great mmos anymore and one of the reasons is cash shops. You can tell the devs whole agenda is money and nothing to do with the game because they focus all their efforts on the shop.

Personally there are too many bads. I was a rs player for over 5 years and enjoyed every moment of it until these updates that pretty much killed the game I loved.

You stick with your opinion and I'll stick with mines. It looks like blue and red version from gameboy advanced to me =P

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the forums. I don't understand how it can have a huge community being stolen from rs with that little members on the forums. Or rs really is that bad that people would switch to this :O

I've heard same with WoW which is why I never played it.

But I can tell you this. From all mmorpg's I've played, runescape has one of the best and funnest quest systems(when you don't use spoilers to do them). That's one of the few positives I have with RS in it's current stage after all these mess ups.

That's where compeition comes in. The second someone comes in and appeals to both crowds and cares about the gameplay and community, runescape will be finished off. They need to loose the greed in their minds from targeting kids.

They are so greedy that they don't want more customers and are running the risk of extinction by only focusing on a subset of the gaming population, and because they're so greedy and doing greedy things like what I've described as costing them money, they're going to try to add a cash shop.  Is that an accurate paraphrase of the argument?

I'll start with my cash shop point. I stated "i bet" they will add cash shops meaning it's my own opinion =P

Yes they are greedy for focusing solely on one part of their community when they have such a fan base in age who all would like changes made. I don't understand your point of costing them money when they have revenues from about 2 million members ($120 million a year) not to mention ads and more. Now in no way do their costs on servers, websites, employees exceed that unless Andrew is being paid $110 million+. So why can they not use all the profits they gain to make a more enjoyable game for all of their player base and not just the younger ones? Even something like graphics as stated could be done with that much profit easily and it will be like skimming a penny out of $100.

And reason I think the game will die is because right now they have no real competitor. The second one comes in, people will easily shift over to a game like rs that gives the best of rs world, plus what they wanted. I mean come on people switching over to Uternum Online and it's so much worse than RS graphically itself. If that game can start stealing RS players, than once an actual good game comes out rs will die.

Very true. I have the best memories ever playing even the worst of games with friends. Everyone rocking mics and screaming and laughing. That's one thing where the game doesn't matter because friends always have a way to make the worst game fun :D

In my opinion I can't even see a reason to play an mmo without leveling. It adds a huge aspect to me with something large to do when you have 30 different skills you can work on. It makes it so those that work on the skills diserve to grow in how good they do the skill and have numbers to back it up. I can't see an mmo being big without leveling.
