Yeah,  Sure Sony chases down every tard that makes an allegation against them.   On something like this sony would let you be the one who brings it to court then laugh as the judge brings the gaven down on your sack.

Absolutely.  Sony paid somebody to DoS your site then allowed that person to brag about it.

Real cyber terrorists don't tell you they are a cyber terrorist.   Thats about as likely as a muslim openly admitting he is Taliban or Al Quida.

Do you really think MMORPG.com is liable to track down somebody just because they attacked your site?

MMORPG.com is liable of doing something about it because he bragged and showed that he's responsible for the attacks over the MMORPG.com PM system.

Wow... just... wow.  And that's all I'm going to say about the whole affair.

And at those posts about how "We don't care", if you don't care so much why even take the energy to type out your posts here? Replying only means you do care to a certain extent.

Its just like all the fanbois trying to tell us Vets they don't care we lost our game to some sleazy company. Just by taking the time to hit the reply button and hopefully forming a comprehensible sentance to pass along your point shows that you do care , even if "caring" means trying to render psyhological help never requested.

It seems like SOE is hiring whoever with whatever experience into the SWG dev team

They even lack common sense and online etiquette when dealing with CUSTOMERS

- Lots, and I mean LOTS, of players. Enough that we had servers rivalling each other.
- 32 professions and the freedom to mix and match.
- A skilling system where doing specific things granted specific xp. And the social aspect of teaching people skills.
- A player-driven and player-run economy. Everything would break down and replaced, crafters and crafting mattered.
- No Instant Travel. We waited at shuttleports. And in that time we meet a lot of people, made friends.
- Bustling capital and player cities. And then the massive PVPs of one guild attacking another's city.

Though these are just but a few of the things that seperates NGE from Pre-CU, there are a whole lot more that I'm sure other people will post up :)

Any bets on SWG going Free-to-Play with crafting completely deleted and a item shop business model put in?

*sigh*

On any particular day back during Pre-CU, there is an amount of interesting things to do. And it doesn't involve any of the crap things offered today.

Player Cities were always bustling with activity... Capitols were always filled with people buzzing around on their business... Base raids were planned to huge groups of 40 or more people... Crafters sold their wares with a friendly fight of who has made the better stuff.

Its just incomprehensible why they won't just provide a classic server... they're subscriptions would skyrocket. The controvesy talk over the years has already made that apparant. Sure it won't be like WoW, but 250k is always better than 10k.

We all know what SOE did was wrong through and through... but what can one do?

Their legions of lawyers would deflect any lawsuit anyone throws at them. Here's to remembering what this company did to their customers, and that we shall not contribute to their wallets any longer.

Yes, collision detection was a stated requisite, and clearly needed from direct observation. Naturally, they launched without it. Remember when the NGE was launched and the mobs used to stack up right on top of each other?  Useless.

Imagine playing Call of Duty 4 where the enemy has no collision limitations, can shoot at you through everything, and you ducking behind cover, dropping to the ground, or even running away does nothing at all whatsoever to dodge their attacks, while at the same time, terrain actually blocks YOUR attacks.

That is the FPS that is the NGE.

Best description of SWG-NGE's combat system to date =D

i don't know about all of you but i would rather have a game with 250k players on it then 3k that swg has now.

We've all seen how SOE self-destructs on so many levels... wanting to stay alive has nothing to do with it :P

lol delta, you've been promoting them huh?

Like I said in response to your first post, we do not speak the names of the certain group of people working to bring back a certain state of a certain game. *hint hint*

SOE no likey interdependancy. Too haaarrrrd.

They screwed up Tailoring so badly. I was a Master Tailor back in the day... and we used BE tissues to make some really sweet things... and skill tapes.

How is it that SOE is feeding MMORPG with cash? They don't even advertise here.

Not one single banner was seen in this entire site. I doubt MMORPG is taking sides, but standing a neutral ground. MMORPG.com was founded for the purposes of discussing and covering them MMORPG games that come out year to year.

But I do agree that moderation of this forum really be stepped up. Otherwise putting this forum here will just cause more unneeded angst. We vets bash the NGE, compare it to Pre-CU, laugh at SOE's shortcomings all because this IS the Veteran Refuge. They'd call it beating a dead horse, but this horse is still alive and the owner is still sticking funny pink stickers on it.

NGE players (especially those who has never played Pre-CU) want to defend their game? Why the need? Go enjoy your game. Prove to us that we're wrong about the whole population thing, cos till this date I haven't seen a single shot of a crowded cantina or player city theather that isn't a field of AFK dudes.

I won't be surprised if it was... $OE is necroing everything they can from Pre-CU and re-shoving it back into NGE in a zombified form.

This forum is obviously for us vets to rant about the NGE... "SWG Veteran Refuge". If thats not obvious enough as to the purpose of this forum, someone needs their heads screwed on right.

Those NGE players should stick to their General Discussions.

Hoth being added as an instance "like Axkva Min, Imperial Star Destroyer & Exar Kun" is a great idea and going to be really fun. This dev team is actually doing a great job with SWG. Seriously, I think them working with the means and the budget they have, having to fix all the old bugs, and make good of the crap the last devs did, they have pulled the game together tight. It is being refined in a good way and it just keeps getting better. I have been playing for 3+ yrs and I really like the direction the game is heading in now.

If more Star Wars fans or old players played and supported SWG, then more great things would happen such as expansions and stuff. But SWG hasn't got a strong fan base, so I am sure that limits the devs funds and creativity. This team is working hard with what the have available and they are doing a great job at it. They are actually listening to the players too and working w/ the feedback.

If your an online gamer and a Star Wars fan, show some support and try it out.

Hey man no offense here but the game you play is a shadow of it's former self and the reason people aren't playing is because SOE basically said we the pre-nge vets were expendable and were looking for a new player base to fuel this WOW knock off and the new player base never materialized. They dropped this version of the game on us with little to no warning and said take it or leave it and we left in droves! I personally am a huge fan of Star Wars as well as most of the player base that left but that still does not let SOE off the hook for basically lieing to it player base. Now it's a total trust issues with me because I will never play another SOE product that being said if there were to be another Star Wars MMO mad by someone other than SOE I'd at the very least try it out!

Obviously people are playing

Of course people are playing. If the population was zero, SWG would have its plug pulled already.

But how many people playing? Just compare screenshot activity from Pre-CU to NGE.

Or better still... any of you playing NGE post a screenshot of you and your guild together. Don't even need to be strangers.

HAHAHAAHAHAH!!! He played it just like Palpatine would.

The gameplay of the game is held by a dark lord, how canon.

But seriously... a better rebuke would serve him better instead of a curt dismissal. Show you care, isn't that what you're supposed to do?

Mission Terminals that still pay 700k for 5 man missions? Taking down targets that require travel, co-ordination?

They can add a thousand planets for all I care. Exploration is a minor part of a game. You see and go Oooohh... and move on.

Pets. Oh pets... Bio-Engineers and Creature Handlers were the experts of pets. Not an expertise tree. It would take pages to lay out what Pre-CU BE and CH professions were like.

But still in the end, Crafting is dead. Less you're crafting solely for your own use.

When the tag line read "Live the greatest saga ever told - Yours" came up when the game was first introduced, it was true to its meaning. MY SAGA. Whether I was a tailor that provided custom made threads, or a ranger that always came in handy with my camps and traps, a politician that ran a well built city, a droid engineer that provided all kinds of quality and functional bots, commando that hit hard but capable of healing as well, a smuggler slicing weapons behind Imperial's backs... it was MY SAGA.

Not Jedi, not Officer, not Commando, not any of those preset destinies. But a destiny of my own choosing.

Jedi running amok by the thousands simply robs the mysterious romantics attached to what the Jedi was.

Any Star Wars fan would know that.

I'm just sad new players can't experience what it was like back before CU.

But yea, by all means try the game...

I knew what it was like back before the CU, and yeah there are a lot of players who miss it and wish it was still like that, but for me I moved on and learned the new game and to be honest there is no other MMO I like and I have played most of them.

After all its star wars

They can put Pre-CU up and slap a name like "Third Life" on it and I'd still resub in a second

I've trialed the NGE, but its just not playable to me. I just think of it now as a harsh zombification of the original game.
