And the majority of the players would like to see that their actions account for something they do in an online world. Thats what we all want to feel heroic or be the anti-hero. Jee, who would of thought people wanting to immerse themselves in a game world. |

Blizzard CEO calls shipping an unfinished product, 'devastating'
General Discussion « Mortal Online 1/19/10 7:13:31 PM
This statement can be related to any of the trash thats coming out including star trek. Or even the past trash that has been released. MMOs make or break on first impressions. If the MMO that is being released first impressions are dismial its hard to dig your MMO out of the grave. Consumers are tired of paying games that are still only beta worthy. They can thank their previous MMO comrades for that.

Very awesome. I never did get a chance to play ff11 as at the time it only released for PS2 and I was already way to involved with EQ. |

Hmmm, I got a question about this game. Its going to be availble multiple platforms yes, but if I get it for PC will I be able to group up with someone whos playing it on say X-Box or PS3? Or the people that buy it for console or PC will only be able to interact with people using the same format as them? |

To everyone who's complaint is "Where's the exploration!"
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 1/18/10 9:51:14 AM
Only thing I have to say about a space exploration, discovering alien races, engaging diplomacy with alien races, engaging combat with aliens, and generally visiting planets with a shuttle...... Star Control 2 > Star Trek online. Star Control 2 had so much more in exploration and so many ways to go about that game than star trek online will ever have. If anything that these developers could of learned from a previous space game it would of been that. That game had map grids when you traveled into hyper space you traveled all around real constilations and galaxies. Alpha Centarui, Vulpechulae system, Draconis System, and dozens of other systems in that game that you can explore and see and also encounter many various aliens. Not only was this game back in released back in 1993 every encounter with aliens had voice dailog with their own language and if you didn't understand it they had a little interpreter so you could. Just face the fact that Star Trek is a dream that was rushed out and now its going to face the consequences of floping miserably. Because it fails in all aspects as a true MMO and anything to do with Star Trek in General. For those of you that might be intrested you can download an actual Star Control 2 game here....... http://sc2.sourceforge.net/downloads.php Even works with vista and windows 7.0 too

free 23 day welcome back time given to previous SOE players?
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 1/18/10 6:54:29 AM
Thanks for the help guys. Didn't even know they added a station launcher. I downloaded the station launcher for future use, but does this mean I would still have to have a valid and active station member pass to be apart of any free play time? I was gonna download the EQ1 trail just to goof off of course after I download patch and everything it says I need to be an active station member to play it. lol so much for being free .... ahhh good ole SoE the fake free trail, but pay 2 bucks for our website lol. |

free 23 day welcome back time given to previous SOE players?
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 1/17/10 9:13:26 PM
I read in another post, but i figure I would create a new thread about this. There was 23 free days given out to previous SoE players? How can I be apart of this? Is there a site or a place i need to go to cause I didn't see anything in my mailbox about this? Do I need to have an active station account for this? and lastly is this just for eq2? What bout EQ1? Thanks for any info. |

"Hi everyone, I'm playing the free 23 day welcome back time given to previous SOE players. I have some free time so i'm taking this opportunity to gather some answers to those who would like to know about the populations. Please note : Many players are taking advantage of the free 23 days. So the populations can give a false representation of player base at this time. I would guess more free time players are at the lower levels."
Where was this? And is it possible for myself to get in with the 23 days? Or is that only if you resub you get this? Thanks for any info. Bored to tears and I wouldn't mind going back in EQ 2 to mess around for awhile. |

Where do we get off as gamers? With all of the promises MMO companies have been giving us all of the latest garbage of games where they release with half the content missing and having them plead with us to stick around it will be better? Or we will add content or fix bugs? You can thank previous game releases that we as the gaming community won't tolerate half ass released junk anymore. I've said it before and I'll say it again Game Developers need to release a polished finish game in this market now. First impressions are so important cause alot of us MMO veterans have been fed the carrot on the stick and we just don't wanna go thru it every single game. We don't wanna feed anymore publishers a quick bang for their buck. Gamers are willing to sit around for a finished game its the publishers that need to get that thru there damn head. Sigh Greed. I for one hope that Star Trek (Sorry to you Star Trek hopefuls) flops so hard that it shakes up the developer and publishers that they see that they gotta stop with deadlines and release dates and make a finished product with huge titles like Star Trek.

The OP did bring up a great game though Star Control 2!!! Now that was an awesome game. Tons of Space exploration. A Civil Galatic war between 2 powerful aliens wanting to rule the unvierse. Damn that was game was so awesome. Even the PvP was alot of fun granted that was between you and your friend lol. but still. Launch fighters. Even that game had voice when you hailed an alienship. The aliens would speak to you in their language and they had that little interpreter thing looked like that beholder from Big trouble in litle china lol. Id rather go back and play old ass Star Control 2 then play star trek online which is nothing more than a steaming pile. |

I used to play UO. So my question about this game is this? Are there rune stones you recall off of like UO? or pretty much you have to travel everywhere by foot? Or is there a mage spell to where you can teleport? Also, in the dungeons are they pitch black to were you might need a torch or need to cast a light spell? And are there alot of dungeons? or caves or whatever ? Thanks |

I'm sorry but, another Star Trek online Beta player
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 1/13/10 11:57:23 AM
that is completely disgusted with this game. Yeah I have a low post count so I'll probably be considered a troll. Big whoop wanna fight about it? Alittle quick history about me. Long time MMO player since the days of Diablo 1 and Ultima Online into Everquest and I can go on and on. I did play champions online with the trials that were allowed to me. Fun game, here and there got to 40 but found myself with nothing to do and incredibly bored since I never ever had the need to group up with anyone since I could heal myself with the regeneration powers. Star Trek is pretty much Champions Online with Trek skin as I'm sure most of you are aware already. Here its pretty much the same thing, you can pick up a science officer and he can perform all the healing nessacery you and your away party will ever need. Same goes with all of the Officers you can pick up. So what the hell is the point of grouping up with anyone? Atleast on away missions maybe I could see joinning up with a fleet for huge ship to ship battles. I suppose. Also if your a science officer in your party 2 people can perform healing whoopie you and the npc. Now with that said. Granted maybe I didn't haven't gotten too far into the beta yet as I am only level 5 almost 6. But, I get the same feeling. I run by all of these other players ignoring all the chat which is terrible. I read the story which is some what intresting but, you don't have any say in how it goes. Pretty much your just an erran boy. Yes sir! Right away sir. Zero diplomacy. You get absolutely no say. Pretty much with my mindless rant. Game Developers really need to start realizing one thing from now on. When a game comes out its first impressions are so important because it can make or break the game. This isn't back in 2002 where the community has never been handed a crappy MMO game. Or being fed lies about how the game will get better just hang around a few more months. This crap where the people have to pay for an unfinished game/beta an unpolished game needs to stop. And the only way that this is going to stick into these publishers heads if the community takes a stand and says look we are tired of eating your sh!t give us a complete game or don't release it at all. /rant
