Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Official SWTOR Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/08/12 10:38:04 PM
"Visceral Star Wars Combat" why is visceral the new buzzword in the gaming journalism world? look at skyrim and every single review talks about the visceral combat but yea, that aside, there's nothing visceral about TOR's combat. literally WoW style 123 skill patterns. not to mention the raids which feature 100 dudes with lightsabers beating on giant monsters (which the devs said they wouldn't do in the video interviews lol) |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The #1 Reason to Play SWTOR
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/22/11 4:07:14 PM
Pushing the story in an MMO is the totally wrong direction to go in imo, especially the way bioware handled it (hamfisting ME'S dialogue wheel into an MMO). don't get me wrong, I love a good story, especially if a game does it well (chris avellone) but the last thing i'm looking for in the MMO genre is a story. I mean it's a nice bonus, but I'd much rather see newer MMO's push the social interaction aspects of the gameplay, and how you're able to change and affect the world environment |

I like these types of ideas but sadly they're usually misused as mob dispensers for power leveling |

Yeah because doing mindless repetetive tasks over and over that require zero thought at all is TRULY compelling gameplay. MMO addicts are embarrassing |

Star Wars Galaxies: Developers Bid Adieu
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/17/11 8:45:24 AM
no clue what they would put in cash shop, probably a lot of cosmetic items like costumes and house decorations
you're totally right about the combat, it's a shame they couldn't fix it before the NGE. poor game never got the love it deserved |

City of Heroes: Freedom Video Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/06/11 3:09:18 PM
the comment on the lack of detail might have been better if explained, because the graphics in CoX are extremely detailed. a ridiculous amount of character customization (including both skill animations/colors) varied enemy NPC types all with a unique flavor TONS of details to the environment (seriously just look around, there's so many little background elements just to add to the atmosphere) not to mention the world design itself. so many of the NPC's are actually doing things in the world, whether it's breaking into buildings/vehichles, stealing purses from old ladies, goldbrickers patrolling the cities on flight routes, enemy NPC factions fighting it out in real time, etc etc etc. sure some of the models and textures look a little outdated (usually the stuff that came out in 04), but it makes up for it in the amount of detail and variety in everything else. |

Interesting that they would do that in this day and age. hopefully the idea is well implemented, it could be a little EVE like, which is always a good thing |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Five Not So Great Things About SWTOR

choose setting that has an incredibly diverse list of races, many of which are already iconic. make all the races humanoids with different skin colors/VERY SLIGHTLY altered models very VERY lazy bioware. what a waste of potential. especially since way older MMOs like SWG had tons of different races also money can't be an excuse, this is literally the most expensive game ever created. the budget was higher than the movie avatar |

World of Warcraft: Activision-Blizzard Stock Downgraded on Declining WoW Subs

once the players see the real quality of the old republic they'll be back to WoW in no time. though i'm sure the numbers will still be dropping regardless, after cataclysm and later pandaria |

World of Warcraft: Chuck Norris Featured in New TV Spot

lmao at this response. is this real? wow has 10 million subs, they could probably come up with a better commercial idea than a joke that had gotten stale even 6 years ago. but you know it's just a silly commercial, the way you interpreted such a small comment as "hatred" is pretty sad. the wow defense force roots sure run deep |

WildStar: They're Listening
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/17/11 10:02:43 PM
pretty much this. it's almost like marketing at this point. if you're making an MMO, you have to make a "we're listening" press release. at this point there's nothing really special about it, it's just trying to look good. |
