man that pisses me off. inescapable wow cloning going on everwhere!

i can totally see Aoc's battle plan for sub victory over wow, and war.

wow=wow

war=wow+advanced pvp

AoC=wow -fantasy races+advanced pvp+titties = >all other wow clones todate.

wtg Aoc!!

*begins to pray that darkfall may actually exist... and is as they say.*

Hmm, I find it amazing how you can take 1 aspect of a game and draw a curtain completely around the entire games structure and rubber stamp a label.

Its got swords? OMGWTF!!!!!! its a wow clone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doh, beat me to it.

As I was reading this that was th 1st thing that poped into my head,

<sarcasm>After all, wow was the 1st mmo ever made and every other game must be a clone,</sarcasm>

I'd have to say, hybrid.

Open world and with your choice of grind group, single 1 off quests or even progresive quests.

You want be a crafter you say, then be one, but you shouldnt have to be completly reliant on adventures or be one yourself to excell.

I'd suggest taking a peak at the "Looking For Game" in general discussion.

It lists most of the MMOs and also breaks them down by dificulty and/or learning curve.

CoX and WoW are easy , EQ2 is in the middle and EQ1 is in the hard end of things.

I agree its also a bit in how you play.

It doesnt even have to be rollplay.

In EQ1, my main was an ogre warrior, to raise dark elf faction, I spent days killing halflings outside Neriak. There where a few quest I could have done, but it was more fun to kill npc that barely cleared my knees. :)

Thanks.  This honest account tells me exactly what I need to know.

I happen to feel this type of quest design is inexcusable.  There are games with better quests, and I simply won't pay for one that takes the lazy route.

I'm glad to hear the crashes are getting better, though!   And the NPC battles do sound like a nice touch.  Of course, CoH has all that, as well as the crappy quests, so I guess I'll stick with the devil I know.

What games don't have thoes kinds of quests?

"Talk to NPC y, kill x number of mobs, escort/protect z npc, find object y"

That actually have quests...Tetris and Pong don't count.

I found last night with a new character, crouching with a rifle made a big diferance to the damage I did.

Also, being more than 20 meters away.

Shotgun worked best at about 8-12 meters. Melee attack didnt seem to do much but pull agro.

Pulled the animals with the rifle, switched to the shotgun, if it was an arms race to get agro 1st. I pulled with rifle and lightning.

But ya, level 5 in 2 hours, rarely used sprint, took my time and health never went below 75%. No need to use one of the newbie health packs.

Was this changed late last night or this morning?

I was playing for a bit last night before I got kicked and went to bed. Made it to the 1st logos cave and finished that quest. Killed the bosses and all the random trash, dont think I got below 75% health.

Used a shotgun close up with 5pt health steal and 10pt AP rifle for longer range.

Comparing AoC to WoW is about as pointless as comparing grapes and pork chops.

Both are MMOs and both are food...And that's about it.

EQ was a great game in its day. I played from 1st release to shortly after Gates of Discord.

Lots of broken patchs, emergancy patches, broken expansions (LDON comes to mind) and content rushed out the door.

EQ2, not a bad game, but far to easy compared to EQ1. Inatial release was almost unplayable due to rushing. I was a bata tester at the time. Marketing beat out devolopment. IMO

SWG, was a good game pre combat upgrades, but it was also very bugy at release. Again I bataed and feel that marketing beat out development.

Bataed Vaguard, IMO, EQ2 with more options.

WoW, even easier than EQ2, played for just over a year and got tired of wack-a-mole combat and bots.

Monolopy aside, SOE IMO, appears to be more intrested in the money than real content or anything truly new. Take a year of another expasnion and fix the ones you have.

Personaly, I am looking forward to AoC and think Horizons had good potential but didnt make it.

We need an MMO thats as open as Oblivion or Freelancer and break away from the cookie cutter gear grinding MMO's. IMO of course :)
