Haha, they are still listing all of their na servers as medium at 2:30am on a sunday night but they have slipped to #12 on xfire from #5. It's funny, everyone on the rifts board was crowing how accurate xfire's numbers where when it was in fifth place but now they are saying just the opposite. saturdays shard status showed just 2 na realms as full, 3 high & the rest medium. Medium must mean more than 5 now :).

If you want to play sp just go to http://www.hellgateaus.net/  They have some really good mods for it. Lost London is a blast, it makes the game have only 3 classes but you have both skill trees in each one. So if you want a cabalist that can summon fire elementals & throw fire balls, have at it. Or a blademaster with a few guardian skills.

Why buy the platinum pack(prophecies + eye of the north) for $40 bucks when you can get the complete edition(prophecies, factions, nightfall & eye of the north) for $40?

You can get the guild wars complete collection edition for $40. That has all 4 including eye of the north. Got mine at wally world.

As far as p2w, there are xp potions in game BUT NOT for sale in the cash shop! The ones on factions are available from quartermasters in the temple.

The cash shop has vanity items as has been stated. I love my grenth costume however it provides nada as far as any bonuses to me go.

I just hope in one of the follow up expansions the dwarves return from the depths. I'm just a dwarf lovin' fool.

Of the ~85 L55+ characters in my guild alone, only about 5 are playing. I & most others are not playing & definitely not buying diamonds.

Used to be on weekends all servers are crowded or full, now 3 crowded, 13 normal & none full. That shows just how many people are fed up with this shit.

4 runs through Cl(r/p, m/d, r/s, d/r) 8 chain pieces all bound of course. So unless you want to try to wait for someone to come buy it from you before you pick it up pretty useless, unless you spent a butt load on advanced bind lifters.

Have went on 3 other runs in CL with others & have never even seen anything but chain so far. It not a good game when you have to grind 100 runs in 1 dungeon just to try to get a 4-5 piece set for yourself.

you have to ship with 500 complete zones, each with a unique experience and story for the players. This is an insane scope. Here's why: Assuming - just for purposes of discussion - each zone takes just one worldbuilder and just one artist a month of time to bring from concept to completion (which is wildly optimistic/unrealistic), and assuming you have 25 worldbuilders and 25 artists, you've just committed yourself to over 3 years of nothing but cranking out zones.

25 worldbuilders & 25 artists @ 1 zone/month = 25 zones/month

25 zones/month * 20 months = 500 zones

20 months = 1 & 2/3 years NOT 3 years.

Sorry but math mistakes(especially simple ones) just bug the crap out of me, otherwise very nice article.

Yes you can play the game free up until about L53, than, if you are not a M/P, you will need to start buying CS items.

Well just in PvE the jumps they make in between areas is huge later in the game. In weeping coast the L52 characters are 6k-8k hps, not to bad vs same level characters. But the next area, savage lands, the L53 enemies have ~20k hp & hit harder too. You on the other hand might(maybe) have an extra 500 - 1,000 hp over your 3k-8k you had last level.

This basically forces you to buy cs items.

Yes your diamonds can be used in the CS immediately.

RoM had it's points that were fun until it got to endgame were it became mandatory to spend real cash on your equipment. That along with the time spent in raiding seemed like a double waste of time.
