Guild Wars 2: Official Response to "Dungeons" Article
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/22/10 9:31:12 AM
well lets see. i seem to recall that the current gw method of post release material is done is things like the two earlier expansion packs(can't think on names right now night something and .... can't remember other) . They were as large as the game in expanded size and cost as much as the game did. They are worth every peny with additional map area, quest and characters. new characers also means new item lines for character. needless to say. I like the way they have it. as long as they keep the time to hit max lvl the same from expansion to expansion and base i am happy. they really fudged over when they made it to easy to get to max lvl on expansions. then started fusging the market place by making things more or less exspensive. if they don't screw with the market and they keep a balanced lvl up to max time all should fly smoothly. though i am not sure how I feel about a lack of healer chars, now that everyone will have heal moves. guess it could help since that was sorta why the game was declining when i last played. |

Guild Wars 2: Character Progression Information
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/03/10 12:38:42 PM
actually, this type of non lvl based system works. its known to most people as FPS style. in most fps there is no real achievement except in pure kill number and better weapons. true better lvl better weapon but lvling in fps's is sort of common place with prestiges and what not so thats not what the focus is on. the focus goes back to skill and content. this will be seen in guild wars 2 with new skills that have to be hunted out and new skill trees made. it makes it more like an fps where skill and precison are involved and less based on this player has no life and plays 22 hours a day against the casual players. |

News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 7/27/10 8:46:33 AM
sorry about blank. above, ok what i am not concerned with is this game so much but the following game blizzard releases. I am not trying to get up false hopes or spread too many rumors but after many hours of searching someone that went to blizz con said that it was announced that Diablo 3 would release after starcract 2 and before its expansion pack. So what I am saying is this is the mile stone to let me know now. and I am waiting for diablo 3 as of now. |

General: Kotick Wants Call of Duty to be a Subscription Based MMO
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/27/10 9:30:02 AM
the problem is there would likely be even more lag. theres always a minimal 10k people. Thats a small number when its server-matches, but to put 3k people on 1 server even....... that just leads to lag from excessive people. another thing is, mmo's are meant to be played in 3rd person to view your srroundings. COD has only just barely touched that and only for fun. COD is an FPS game for a reason. SIghts. When you have 3rd person 9/10 times you have a very slow aim or projectile path they show you. now if you said ghost recon needs to become an fps.... well now your talking. thats already played in 3rd person. more to my point. the weapon system is solid right now. Pure lvl up to get more. I don't think COD is willing to make a at least 30,000 weapons to make loot a plossible feature unless they made ammo a lute. thay might be done, but people like new and shiney things to find in mmo's . In general this was a bad idea. the best closest thing to this idea already exist in 2 forms. borderlands, and army of 2&army of 2-40thday |

General: Blizzard to Integrate Battle.net and Facebook
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/06/10 9:06:02 AM
Originally posted by Wraithone steam does not host online games or server.. battle.net does. big difference. the only thing steam does is have a friend list and chat option. it also distributes games as mentiontioned. I wouldn't be suprised if you could steam Diablo 3 when it comes out. (exe of steam not host= cod:mw2 IWNET is equivalent to battle.net) |

ditto with these other americans. I think the art style is fantastic. in fact i haven't seen an mmo that has this good an art style/graphics ability yet. and as far as hating on the artist. i love this artist. his models are freaky sexy as hell. so not all american's are the same. and btw i am a southerner too. |

General: 94% of MMO Subscriptions are Fantasy Games
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/22/10 4:11:38 PM
well i think the answer is obvious. people pirate games that are eigther strictly solo or have a large-ish solo play. becuase honestly ... who wants to pay 60+$ on a game that may last a month and has no multiplayer. not to say i pirate ;) but not many will pay for a soloplay game only. and cod that's just a great game all around so ofcourse it will be pirated |

Based off this feature list, would you play?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/14/10 11:32:04 PM
"Encounter many familiar...." this is where you lost me. if everything is just like every other wow copy or is another copy of wow with the same graphics same grind then NO What people want i think is a game with a well thought out skill tree for the common types. each character having two or 3 variations of ways to build it and live. new graphics that we don't see help. some jump is usualy nice though it doesn't have to fly. a new story line would be nice, but it can't be too basic and should be nearly cinematic. if not... it's another story i will ignore.
some cool perks i have heard wanted: weapons that can be improved so as to use them from lvl 1-150 class system that is unique and welll implemented new character types using something other than the primary seemless map is nice so long as it doesn't take 8 hours to travel to the next region, other wise it would require a wp system. weapon detail is a must for me. gear can not be limited to only 200 there should be at least 400 weapons/gear and constant variation in quality/stats upgrade items should be useful game should be a buy game with free server to play after buying. (im not a fan of p2p) -------------------------------- what was listed was kind of like the minimum requirements though i see 99% of all games already have something pretty close. |

one word. diablo. yes anyone who has seen me post has most likely seen me mention it. I will love it till the day i die. Diablo 2 and its expansion make the best RPG/story ever told. and the diablo3 first book is amazing. would read more but more local stores all sold out : ( |

the most epic and expected lols. I am an agree'er with author. but i have stipulations.
for one most games will never really expand their seemlessness in maps or do anything game changing in the p2p market. wow is one perfect example. along with eq. they both add periodic expansions and keep the same grind methods a good portion of f2p mmo's have. with that said. i look and play all games f2p. i was complaining my self , in conjunction with a friend, about how items should be more upgradable. As in we want items that are good from the time your lvl 1-150. I have only ever encountered one game that did an attempt at this. that's talisman online. the other complaints are common but i found the solution in an unsuspecting game that has many nice features. i went to an anime style(term used loosely) and found i liked the ether saga. it has gear that is swapped less often than some (every 15 lvls) and has many upgradable features. the map is indeed seemless run and is not overly vast when compared to movement speed ( does not take 4hrs to run across). auto run to features for random quest people/monsters. potions are done in semi not spamable though are still quick. mounts are unique and most anything can be a pet. i my self used to not want to touch any game that was not realistic looking after i got done with TOP. however relating back, you usualy find what your looking for in improvements is in unlikely areas. paying and better graphics will not be everything when looking for a great game. buy games then f2p server is really my fave style though. these are often times instacers but are my fave style always. great gameplay. story line is entertaining. graphics are superior since i had to buy it. the list goes on. you will never get realistic graphics from a wow game becuase thats not the intent. however a nice game like assassins creed...... what more need be said. games i think will be great and is lilely what people are waiting for: diablo 3 gw 2 blade and soul |

what do you prefer a player driven world or a story driven world
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/03/10 9:18:42 AM
i find most mmo's to be wanted to be player driven, but you still have primary quest. in that, most of the time you can't pic good or evil till very late in the game. as a result the question is more do you want awesome cinematics and instancing or do you want stremline dialog and crafting.
to me the answer is : depends on what games I just got done with and what I am in the mood for. I often play mmo's after I get gone with RPG's and vice versa, and both need a lil FPS relief all the meanwhile. |
|

ditto man. if someone were to come up with a really superior MMORPG it would simply take the market hands down. I believe the next closest thing to this will be guild wars 2 later this year. I have not too much against MMO's despite my very pro-instancing stance. They are great for the clans and guilds and what not, and have a much more intricate story line if not 2 or 3 story lines that people follow. There's just not that many great ones yet. |
|
|
yay this discussion is the primisses of instance gaming with a singular beatable story line. AKA Diablo and games similar. |
|
|
MMO's are great and have their part and all but, I enjoy knowing that I killed everything in that instance. Loot is still difficult at best . But, games just don't have story line that people can see played through anymore. |
