Xsyon
LFGame « General Discussion

Why?

That's the question I kept asking myself when I played Xsyon. Why should I build this homestead? Sieges and storage do not exist.  Why should I kill this player?  Point/rankng system does not exist.  Why are there no animals or trees?  They were supposed to exist.

It's great that Jordi and the team are working a lot on the game, but what you just posted as "new features", is literally nothing.  Thats all they have implemented?  Fucksake its gonna take ten years to get that game feature complete.  Not worth $40 + $15 sub in my opinion. Buyer beware.

About 48 hours, after unlocking Jedi(Pre-CU SWG).  Passed out fully clothed on my bed, for about 16 hours, woke up and did it again.

Try Allods.

Sweet, ty.

DOH!

While not an mmorpg, im sure most of you played the Duke Nukem Games "back in the day".  After thirteen years in the making, Gearbox Studios (who took over the game from 3D Realms) announced at the Penny Arcade Expo today, that the game will be hitting the store shelves in 2011!

Heres the article from Yahoo.

Awesome News!!

This soundtrack at character selection in LoL, is my favorite.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y62l8P0uz9U

prolly sol but id like one too plz.

SWG: Yavin IV (White sand beaches, Ruined Temples, Giant praying mantis)

WoW: Sholazar Basin/Azshara (Tropical Rainforest/Autumn + Grizzly bears and Naga+Ruins on beaches)

Allods: Holy Lands ( Floating Rainforest  island, Contested zone, temples)

Was in the Beta for this game way back.  Nice community, and really helpful gm's, I didn't get hooked, but some people did. One thing I will say, it was definitely Piratey!! Yarr!!

i got insulted and flamed for saying the truth about ALLODS.......

Now you all see how much they care about you . All they want is your $

Did you guys really believe that they invest 12m Bucks to let you all play for free ??

This seems to be something players just don't understand.  Free to play does not mean Free Game.  It means the game is FREE TO "PLAY", No retail/DD to get it, and no subscription/CC info needed, that's it.

So can you" PL AY" Allods for Free? Sure.

Can you get everything you want? Almost. Content and gear are obtainable through game play. You gotta work for it though.

Will you have to Buy items? If you are serious about the game, yes.

I feel bad for some of the gamers out there that wanted this to be their new MMO. It sounded great, a well polished, content filled, raiding, dungeon fanstasy game, and it's Free???Zomg Free WoW!!1! But  without $$ to burn, this is not  a good Replacement MMO.  You get a better deal with WoW or W/e P2P you like.  It works great for casual players though, who are only looking for something to log into once in awhile and just fuck around.

As far as the Cash Shop prices and the FoD problem, the best we can do is keep giving them feedback through forums and such (No Fix It Or Else posts though, they wont take those seriously).  Im sure these guys didn't have the intention of dropping 12 mill on a game for it to just flop.  Then again...a lot of MMOs that have come out recently have made dumb decisions.  Lets hope Allods doesn't continue this trend.

Like I've posted before, Evolve on what's been done right, and keep out the Suck.

/Cheers

Allods Online is what happens when you let Koreans develop a US-only MMORPG. What, you guys were SUPRISED this was going to happen?

Wait.......... what?

Try Fusion Fall.  Not exactly a Wizards and Magic type game, it's very Kid Friendly.  Made by Cartoon Network, and has a lot of recognizable characters that help you along the game (Ben10, Samurai Jack, Dexter, etc.) There is also a lot of Parental Controls you can setup.  Check it out.

Here's MMORPGs' Review

So, I was just patrolling these Forums, looking for a new game to play. I love mythology (especially Greek and Egyptian), Star Wars, and any other MMO that is sort of a sandbox. I love to explore the world, make good friends, and have a good time with Crafting, Guilds, and PvP. But where can you find something that is actually good? Enough WoW. It's overrated and irritating. Let's have something new here... Here is my idea:

1.) A MMORPG with a story. Yes, it has to make sense and be exciting, thrilling, and interesting. It could involve love, hate, sadness, happiness, whatever, just has to be legit and involves you thinking. I want a story that you will have to make your decisions, and whatever you decide will change the way you play the game, or the places your go. The story will not be like go see my great-uncle, tell him I hate him, and report back to me for your reward. No, it has to be more along the lines of : "Go explore the mountains to the east for this artifact with unknown properties that is hidden in the Temple underground. Find out what is going on, and report back to me." Which would you rather want to play? If we have an immense storyline, there will be more player-interaction and just make the game seem more real.

Sounds like SW:ToR might be what you're looking for story-wise, when it comes out that is. Here a short interview with Dallas Dickinson from Bioware, explaining and showing you how THEY do story.www.youtube.com/watch. Your example of a better quest isn't much different from what you don't like.  Its still playing "fetch" for the Npc, and actually sounds kinda like this quest: www.wowhead.com/. But yes hopefully more Game Companies take a look at what Bioware is trying to do, and get a really good, interactive story for the players to experience.

2.) Community. It's a key. Hop into a game with a spamming world chat and you'll probably turn that off within the first few minutes of play. No one likes a community where half the players are elitist fools who believe they are better than you. Yes, of course, there will be those kind of people all the time, but let's get the message across that the better the community, the more fun the game is. Are you guys not here to play for fun?

Definitely agree on community.  Luckily there are guilds in a lot of games that are "friendly" towards newcomers and current players.  Actually Alganon from what I've read, has a strong helpful community, probably because theres only like 50 people playing it though hehe.  Hopefully as time goes on, and more MMO's that don't suck release, the Casual players can be separated from the Hardcore players, instead of being crammed into 1 game, a.k.a. WoW.

3.) PvP, Raiding, and Crafting. The three main biggies. No matter if you are hard-core, casual, whatever, you will probably get involved with one of those three. PvP needs to be interesting. Not just you are teleported to a zone and told to duke it out. No, this PvP would be many types. There could be arena style, where a team could compete against each other in different maps, different gear, different games. There could be a huge island where PvP could take place too. Like Faction vs. Faction sort of thing, where one side tries to control the other side. It would be continuous.

^^This already exists.  That one game...... you know what it is.  Isle of Quel'Danas anyone?  I kinda miss Base Defense in SWG, sorta like a siege with laser guns and needing certain classes to Hack the base terminals. Short Vid : www.youtube.com/watch.

Then there is Raiding. Really fun, if the developers have it right. A fun Raiding instance would be when you go to a place with your team and fight through a series of bosses and not just fight one big boss then you're done. Give a little story-line, make it meaningful and fun. Not too long, but not too short. Give good rewards, and make it so everyone enjoys it.

Fo Sho.  Also, making the encounter different every time would be cool.  Sucks having to follow the same Strat EVERY time you go in because that one L33t guild did it and posted what to do, and then everyone just follows that.  Need a little mystery once in a while.

Crafting, of course, is last. How many good Crafting games are out there? It'd be fun if a game could have good crafting, raiding, and PvP. Haven't seen that yet. Crafting could be in minigames or just out in the open. You could collect things from your environment and have a variety of different professions. Player interaction would be key and a few minigames wouldn't hurt. Things like harvesting would be cool, where one player has his own house and grows his own crops and gains valuable experience, money, and materials from it.

To this day, I still haven't  seen a game that has a better crafting system then SWG. Grinding it up was kinda dumb, you honestly could just macro the whole thing, so getting rid of " You need to make X amount of this crap before u can make the good stuff should go.  But the ability to plant harvesters, and having to find a good % of resources made it interesting. Also the abilty to Color and Name Items that you made was a +. I also heard that Vanguard has a good crafting system as well.

4.) The Quests. Along with the storyline, quests are important too. No more go here, collect this, come back and you get experience. Make it along with the storyline, in depth and real. Collection quests are a huge turn off. I hate them with a passion, and they are too prevalent in any MMORPG.

They do suck. Especially when you group with a friend, and have to wait till BOTH of you gather all items. Arrgh.

5.) Economy. Player-run to an extent. Limitations are fine, but let's not lock up the economy and control prices. Free-trade is cool, but it can be restricted to combat RWT.

6.) Customization. Let's face it, many games fail at customization. Here you go, here's five different hair styles, seven hair colors, 2 faces, and the option of being fat or skinny. Let's get some more in-depth customization here. It's pitiful.

Yeh hopefully CoX/CO/STO type  customization becomes the new Standard for Character Creation in games. That'd be sweet.

7.) Guilds and the other Social Aspect. Guilds are pretty fun to be in, because you get to spend time with people and usually it is very beneficial. However, many Guild systems stink in a lot of MMORPG's. Let's get a good Guild Hall that can be customized with lots of little decorations and things. Provide unique ranks and allow for more options for Guilds. No more here buy your Guild Certificate, invite people and have a chat channel. No, make them apart of the game. Give them a Guild vs. Guild system. A Guild ladder like Guild Wars does.

I think Warhammer has a good Guild Ranking system setup too.  More of this kinda stuff would be great.

Another thing to add is good player housing. Don't you ever feel like you need a place to hang out and just stop after  you explored the world and defeated all these monsters? It feels good to come home and just relax, sit on a couch and gaze at the amazing architecture of your home. A fireplace could be going, or your friends could come over for a party. Whatever the case, make some good options for really creative player housing. Give the option for houses at different prices and add so much customization so you can say you want a landing pad in the middle of your house, or a stable near your room.

8.) A persistent world. All the companies say they have one. Truth be told, uh...not really. You just add more stuff in the game, you're not making borders shift or buildings collapse. Let's have castle sieges or endless sieges of cities. Make the game unique by invading a town, threatening the king, whatever.

Sounds great on Paper.  Unfortunately I believe technology is holding us back on this one atm.  You could probably cram stuff like that in a game right now, but oh god the lag.  Course this is just my guess, im not a expert on game design. Maybe they can do it, and just don't have time/money/urge to implement it.

My points above are what I think a good MMORPG should have. Get all those elements and you will have a game that I would enjoy playing. Let's get a break from those games like WoW and their clones. Combine all the elements of the good games and you'll get a masterpiece. Everyone is just trying to live off of the success of World of Warcraft, and it's really not fun as a gamer. Why aren't the CEO's, Game Developers listening to us at all? Many of us are just sick of games like WoW because it's just too...bleh. Combine the best aspects of WoW, Guild Wars, whoever else and maybe there will be the ultimate game. Will it happen? Probably not. Still looking for a game......

And hopefully as time goes on, We will see more games that "Evolve"  whats been done right, and keep out the suck.

/Cheers

From Yahoo:

Criminals can run, but they can't hide. Especially if they play World of Warcraft.

Just ask Alfred Hightower. Having successfully left the country to avoid being nabbed for dealing drugs, the fugitive figured he was home free. But thanks to his insistence on keeping up with his World of Warcraft habit, Hightower was tracked down by authorities and is now in custody, reports The Kokomo Perspective.

The saga begins in 2007, when Indiana's Howard County Sheriff's Department issued a warrant for Hightower's arrest on charges of dealing in multiple controlled substances. U.S. Marshals were unable to locate the suspect, although a tip placed him in Canada.

According to Howard County deputy Matt Roberson, authorities came upon the Warcraft connection during their investigation into Hightower's background.

“We received information that this guy was a regular player of an online game, which was referred to as ‘some warlock and witches’ game,” he told The Perspective. “None of that information was sound enough to pursue on its own, but putting everything we had together gave me enough evidence to send a subpoena to Blizzard Entertainment. I knew exactly what he was playing — World of Warcraft. I used to play it. It’s one of the largest online games in the world.”

Blizzard played ball, giving up Hightower's account history, IP address, screen name, billing address and preferred game server. One Google Earth search later, and Canadian authorities had apprehended Hightower in Ottowa, Ontario.

“You hear stories about you can’t get someone through the Internet,” said Roberson. “Guess what??You can. I just did. Here you are, playing World of Warcraft, and you never know who you’re playing with.”

Warcraft is just the latest ally in gaming's war against crime. Several weeks ago, police tracked down a New York thief by tracing his online gaming on a stolen Xbox. Federal officials have even begun using Sony's Playstation 3 to crack passwords used by child pornographers.

The OP demands neutral and balanced but to most people there is nothing positive about Alganon and thats what he fails to take into account. There is not one original redeeming factor about it which is sad and funny. It takes bits and pieces of other games that were decent ideas and cant even copy them properly into a somewhat coherent way.  The only thing one can say in a positive point is that DA will hopefully never ever  be allowed or financed to make a game again. Alganon will be F2p soon enough and even then no one will play it because you would have Allods which is superior in every single way.

^^

This.

Its just the spell push-back, u can get dropped down to like 25% of your cast bar from almost full, no glitch, just how it is.  Also it seems to lag for like a sec when  the channel bar is full, before the spell actually goes off/finishes.

Requiem: Memento Mori, Alganon shortly after its release, SUN online.

Atanas Atanasov:

My message for players is "Patience". We don't want to rush Earthrise to the market so we are working hard to deliver a game that players will enjoy for years to come.

And that's what a lot of us like to hear.  Patience is what a lot of  MMO'ers have, whether it be leveling or waiting for new content, we CAN wait, as long as the developer CAN deliver.  Rushed releases just kill games, and it's a relief to hear that Masthead doesn't want to disappoint like so many others have.  Good luck on a solid release, this gamer is looking forward to your awesome game.
