Fallen Earth: Fallen Earth Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/07/10 8:52:32 AM
Agreed. Fair review. The part about rolling the die to see if you hit has always confused me. I've never missed anything I was aiming at (level 38 atm.) I've heard this comment before and believe that people are experiencing it, it just doesn't happen to me :)

Fallen Earth: Review Retracted
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/23/09 12:11:24 PM
I enjoy the game. Your review can't change that. At best, it could deter new people from trying the game. With one big server, and rapidly growing population, I don't care if fewer people start playing. It's a fantastic game that keeps getting better. If you don't feel that way then play somewhere else.

There is a build calculator linked on globaltechatlas.info Browse through the pre-defined builds there and you'll have a better idea of where to start. You can learn all the tradeskills. You're not limited to a few. Basing this game on what you've done in the past is a mistake IMO. Get in and try it out. It's different from the others. |

FN pretty much nailed it. Using horses as storage didn't seem practical to me and the amount of space vs. the pain of pulling them in and out of the garage doesn't seem worth it. Mailing items back and forth for storage is not worth it either. The mail interface is slow (1 item at a time) and there is a 10 chip cost per letter. When you start, you'll feel like you never have enough space. Once you figure out what is valuable and what is readily available for cheap, you have plenty of space in your sector vault. I use the barter one for junk & things I probably won't need any time soon. Also, there is a banker vault when you get your rep up with the bankers. I think there is one of these per sector but they are global too. Don't forget the clan bank too. |

Clunky isn't the word I'd use, but neither is smooth. The mobs tend to blink around due to bad pathing which they are aware and working on. It's not smooth like a traditional FPS. |

I'll swear by the combat medic/crafter part. The weapon can be melee, rifle or pistols. It doesn't matter much except that perception (needed for crafting) matches better with rifles or pistols. I've been doing some group healing lately so here's my insight. Staunch wound is the main heal. The better your first aid -> the better your bandages -> the more you heal. This effect has a limited range so you'll find yourself in the middle of the crowd at the front lines. Duck down for the ranged types in the back. This kinda goes for all those in the front row. The best reason to bring a healer type is the HOTS and SOTS. Picking up a restoration mutation gives you an extra HOT and maybe a additional heal. This game doesn't play like a traditional tank/heal/spank game. Group combat is more about maximizing the spank. I wouldn't go into it wanting to create a dedicated healer. Healing is more of a side effect of the crafter types and gives them more utility in groups. Good luck. |

Let's not make this personal. Look. I'm playing a game I really like. Before it was released the developer was putting out screen-shots daily that just looked horrible. Thankfully it wasn't enough to deter me from trying the game. I don't think the screen-shots here are helping hype this game. I'd say they are hurting my opinion of this game. I'll take this to a general discusssion (or not.) Sorry to the Earthrise followers! Enjoy your screen-shots! |

Glad to see the game growing in popularity. Just keep your damn horses out of the bank. |

So... since we're all on the same server here...

See my signature for my alt names. Trevor is 23 or 24 (leveling is afterthought ) Sapo is level 12. Both are sitting in Old Kingman. Planning on running Prison tonight with my two other clannies. For some reason MMORPG is the only forum I can access from work (what I should be doing right now). I love this post as I would love to run with some MMORPGers. |

Fallen Earth: State of the Game Address

I'm too am tired of seeing your list, Brenth. No one here will be able to help you. Looking it over, I don't see how any of your issues could keep you from this game. I don't believe you won't play the game because there isn't any /follow command. This is old news anyway. The best part about this letter is you can tell the developers are hesitant to make any dramatic changes. This is very encouraging. Rode my level 24 from New Flagstaff back to Old Kingman to help some clannies. It was a long ride on horseback, but didn't make me quit the game lol. |

Fallen Earth puts most big buget MMO launches to shame

The game is so nice that I could care less what anyone else thinks about it. It is nice to know that I'm not the only one. |

I'll accept the label of "non-graphically minded" willingly. Did these screen-shots make you drool? |

Sorry to hear so many are disappointed with Aion. I had my choice of two games and it looks like I picked the right one. Aion had lots of red flags for me. I would gloat, but I know how bad it is when an anticipated MMO sucks when it finally releases (AOC vet.) |

On the fence, whats the population and the community like?

I'm usually annoyed by new player questions, yet in FE i spend hours helping people out. I think there are subliminal messages such as "Be nice" in the soundtrack. Only explanation I can come up with. |

I dunno. All i know is they make mention of charisma affecting pets and there is a skill called animal training that is worthless as of now. I've also seen it somewhere that Charisma will have more importance in the future. The developers are clever and seem to have a knack for making the game fun. Pets (combat and vanity) are a good bet for a future expansion. Housing is clearly on the radar. I've heard mention of an in-game radio like GTA too. As you play you get the feel that the full potential of the game is not yet in play. FE is a good investment. I rate it a strong buy.
Khalathwyr, you took the text right from under my fingertips. I have had great success chasing down the roads leading out of town to find the stables. They are always just outside the radar down the roads a ways. |

Spot on DarkPony. I can't remember the exact item, but it was some sort of camo pants and the tool tip was something along the lines of "They will never see your legs coming." That kinda attention to detail is what sets this game apart. Didn't know about using the gear window to zip coats. I'll have to check that out tonight. |

This game would rock, if not that awful AI and lack of challenge in PvE.

I was in S2 the other day and came up on a bunch of yellow neutral mobs. They didn't seem overly excited about my presence until i put a bullet into one of them. That brought two others into combat. One of these two joined in using sonic powers that blinded me, so that I accidentally shot a 4th mob. I'm not sure how many actually were on me by the time I died, all I know is that it was a victory for the AI and a lesson learned for me.
How long have you played....none. Bwahaaahaaa. This thread is full of win! |

Screenshots are worthless because they give relatively no insight into the game. These actually are worse than normal. I just don't see the value in screen-shot previews. |
