[Dev Journal] The Secret World: The Albion Theatre
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/11/12 5:05:07 PM
I hope to see some great artists play around and make something here :-) Might I suggest a feature: when you enter the theater, you can select from all servers and thus be able to jump to the theater you want to watch? Maybe even the artists can name it, and possibly set a time for a play? I would love to see a steady weekly show each friday/saturday

If you could travel back in time and tell the Pre-TSW-Beta "You" something about TSW, what would you tell yourself?
General Discussion « The Secret World 11/10/12 6:09:04 PM
Funny enough, if TSW had released today you would have seen hordes of people leaving another certain game to come here... this is obviously the better game released 2012 |

Funcom should have made the game less "On rail" feel to it

Im curious, how long do you expect yourself to play a game that had ALOT of content, but all the content was equal in difficulty and experience. Your character progression would not make you any stronger, because if you did then it would leave some content trivial. To make a game truly open for exploration you need to throw away character progression as this in it self makes content "locked" or "trivial"
Would you play such a game for years? Or would you just see it made, try it out and then leave it because "its not for you"? |

The Secret World; Is it worth going back?
General Discussion « The Secret World 11/10/12 5:26:21 AM
Originally posted by Zinzan I say that you are complete and utterly wrong. Id simply say that TSW is not for you, and find another less complicated game like battlefield or something... Because in an mmo you will never get the "complete balance" you are looking for The skill tree makes it possible for each and every one that is playing to be able to make his or her "perfect build". For me the skill tree is perfect, and while there always will be individual skills that need tweaking up or down this also means there will never be a "nerf" or a "buff" that affects 1 class and makes them overpowered. In TSW, if a skill is overpowered or underpowered, there is nothing that forces you to use it. Simply use another skill that does something similar but in a different way. This is character freedom at its best! |

The lairs have been made group friendly, with quests and tougher mobs. Alot more nightmare instances added, with one more comming soon. And the first 10 man raid as well
Next patch will include alot of big changes for pvp, described in another thread here on the forum. All in all, id recommend you back! Especially after next patch as that will improve the pvp, so if you want the most out of a 1 month subscription id say resub in about week :) The patch is probably the biggest so far so... :)

Exciting changes planned for PvP in 1.4
General Discussion « The Secret World 11/04/12 7:54:35 AM
There is no "godlike" build, as there is always a build to defeat your "perfect build". You can not make a build that is "perfect", as you by choosing a build or gear combo, will open up a hole for another type of build to utterly destroy you. |

And you would also get almost everyone complaining at "no endgame" because, well... what would be the endgame since everyone would be doing what the wanted most and there was nothing after than that!
I think gamers asks for alot of things, and want alot of things, but when it comes down to it, the players only want to pay for whats mainstram and familiar. More secure and familiar, and not more unknown because at the end of the day its players that pay for the game. And they have given a clear signal that the more similar to wow a game is, the more it will sell. |

[Column] The Secret World: The Price of Progress
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/02/12 11:14:05 AM
Honestly, TSW with their Lifetime subscription offer is probably one of the cheapest MMO's out there. Ofcourse, that is If you are a gamer like me that play a game for years. Usually I am at least subscribed to a game for 1-2 years or more, and I always have subscription in 2 games at the same time even tho I play one more than the other. I also always choose a 6-1 month subscription model since its cheaper to buy. I sincerely hope more game companies will offer a Lifetime subscription model!

As I understand it, Tørnquist still works for Funcom as well. The new studio appears to be working from Funcom offices, and Funcom seem have a business deal with Tornquists studio. As I see it, this is Tornquist doing something he has wanted to do for years part time, and the other part of his time he will still be working with The Secret World.
For me this wont really change anything, as I still see him working for Funcom writing and doing stories. Before he was writing the stories while beeing game director. Now he have alot more time on his hands.
I dont really see a problem here, only good things for gamers, Funcom and Tørnquist |

In general, there is no "i win" build. There are always builds that counter other builds... ;) But ofcourse you can never go wrong with more hp, some hit rating, ability to move around alot, and ofcourse be willing to change build when you face situations where your build doesnt work at all. The best part about the pvp here is the ability to completely change role and gear going from a dps based to tanking to healing, or a mix between it all based on your personal preferences.
There are some interesting changes on its way according to Funcom developers for pvp as well....
