ITT: Sheep begging to be fleaced.
When you buy an MMORPG, you pay 50.00 or so for the box. That is a game purchase. The game has been paid for.
When you pay a subscription fee, you are then paying for a SERVICE over and above the product you have already paid for.
Server time and bandwidth consume a much smaller ammount of this income than most people think.
As part of this payment you make for the service over and above the amount you have already paid for the game, you recieve additions to the game in semi regular intervals. These content additions are usually gameplay and astetics related.
Now, the subscription fees being paid, are paying for the time spent by the employee's in creating the astetic content on the cash shop. Man hours that could have been spent developing content for the game, and providing the service you are paying for.
Then, after you pay them to create the content, they charge you for it again in a micro transaction.
And most of you are so stupid you are just fine with the idea of paying for something twice.
I wish I could say this surprised me. |

I would appear someone has decided that this post on mmorpg.com is more damaging to the game than the posts i've made on SWTOR.com and all my posts for the last two days now appear after browser catch is cleared.
That was really, really fast.
Know it or not, you guys just struck a blow for a consumer's right to complain.
Thanks. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/24/12 7:19:19 PM
Originally posted by Golelorn My thread was the last post in each thread. When logged in as of the time of these screenshots, my post is visible as the last post in each of the two threads inidcating the last post by "slipfeed" in the screens.
When logged out they do not exist.
Also, when logged in, the threads I posted in come up at the top of the forum, because they are the most recently active threads (because of my posts). When logged out only one of the threads comes up on the first page, because it is not taking my posts into account. The posts where made, then the first screen was taken after I noticed it, then the second. If there had been a re-orginization due to activity the chronological order is backwards.
So Either bioware is panicing and trying to censor anyone that is against what they did to the game in 1.2, or they have found a way to reverse the flow of time and space. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/24/12 7:11:49 PM
So I posted a few things on the sage forums today. I've been outspoken about my distaste for the changes since the patch notes hit.
I logged in, posted, and closed my browser. Then, I went back to check on the threads....
This is what the page looks like when im logged in.
This is what the page looks like when I log out, clear my bowser catch and access the page as an anonymous user...
As you can see, when I am logged in, the posts I made are visible. However, noone else can see them. So, im pretty sure my account has been flagged for censorship, but I was never made aware of this.
When something like this starts to happen, you know a game is screwed. Developers would rather try to control the message than fix the game. |

Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/22/12 11:27:55 AM
Terrible game engine. Combat that feels about as fluid as a lame brick. A "roll more alts" solution to end game. A dev team that has absolutley no fking clue what they are doing. An art team that thinks the visage of a hobo that just crawled out of a dumpster after a hard night of searching empty whiskey bottles for backwash is an acceptable end game armor set. A rabid (small) core of fiercley loyal fans that will never allow any critisism to breach the wall of bullshit they have erected around their beloved "wowkiller". LoL. End of the day this game is just crap from start to finish, and unless you have three keyboards to burn through after you break the spacebar, even the main selling point is just so much worthless babble. PvP is so borken now in 1.2 there are some classes that cannot be killed "sentinals" and some classes that cannont do .. ANYTHING "sages". If you're still looking to try this game out later, I'll suggest you wait till it's sold off to perfect world sellilng loot in lockboxes for cash shop keys...
It wont be long. |

Honestly ! Who would actually pay 15 a month for this???
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/06/12 4:54:39 AM
I would in a heartbeat.
If the game wasnt down for three to eight hours every time I have four hours to sit down and play it.
Makes it kind of hard to play a game when devs are constantly bringing the servers down for a four hour emergency maintanance to add baby names to the credits.
for the last three days in a row, the servers have been down for at least four hours a day. We had two full days of uptime before that thank god, but the first week there where two back to back downtimes.
Honestly, this game has just about had as many downtime days as uptime days at this point.
If I can think of one thing that is going to cause people to not continue playing after the first month besides crashing, it's unscheduled downtime.
I dont care about your eight hour weekly maintanance. I do care when I wake up at 1am to play before work and see an "EMERGENCY DOWNTIME TO FIX SOME DERPY EMOTE!!! TEN HOURS!!!"
Ok then. Guess I'll go play wow. Thanks anyway. |

This will prob be SWTOR's undoing!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/04/10 9:39:08 PM
No, it wont. I didn't even read this thread, and I can reply with a resounding no. Look, lets just get down to the meat of the issue. There is a whole army of jobless losers out there that where hoping beyond hope that this awesome game would use the guild wars pricing model, so they could play it. There is another army out there of underemployed basement dwellers that where hoping beyond hope that the game would use a pay for power cash shop model so they could win while playing it. These two camps are massively butthurt, and in order to take out their frustrations, they are attempting to ruin the reputation of a game that hasn't even been released yet. When all is said and done, though numerous, these outspoken critics will be bowled over by a sea of star wars fans looking to get their hands on a star wars mmo that doesn't suck balls (im looking at you SWG). And all of your flailing about throwing fits will add up to a net loss of zero dollars and zero cents. Sorry. |

Do you think Bioware&EA are upset about all this negativity?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/06/10 7:09:33 AM
No, but I think I'd like to know who owns mmorpg.com.
My guess is whatever company owns this site also owns a free to play games company.
Unfortunately the contact for the site is lumped into Cyber Creations Inc. Which also owns 600 other domains including loads of porn sits, dead pages, etc.
So who owns mmorpg.com, and are they taking their ques from the success of the fox news propaganda machine to slur the competition? |

General: The Best Uses for a Cash Shop
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/06/10 6:51:50 AM
#1 best use for a cash shop. Rake in massive ammounts of dogh on a half finished game while promising to finish it later if only you can get enough money out of your cash shop. Get paid boatloads more than the game is actually worth due to pay for power kiddies spending thier entire 200.00 per month allowance on your game. Shut down game when profit margine reduces without ever providing promised completion. Lather rinse repeat. |

"none of the restrictions will wreck your experience" Really? Restriction to first tier skills only, cannot use items above uncommon, cannot expand bag slots beyond initial offering, cannot use crafting recipies above uncommon, .... Not wreck your experience? I smell a rat. As in, it seems like mmorpg.com has an agenda. |

EverQuest II: Looking at EQII Extended
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/05/10 7:08:59 PM
You cant play at no cost. This is just another demo version that claims to be a free to play mmorpg. Actually, most "free to play" mmorpg are just that. I don't know why the mmorpg community has such a hard on for games that cost 200.00 per month or more to be competative, or be part of a decent guild that does things together. Basiclly, in the particular scam, you can play for free, as long as you dont mind having the worst skills available in the game, the worst gear, the absolute worst gear, and not having the abillity to enter half the dungeons / zones. Seriously. You wont be raiding, you wont be getting groups for dungeons, and you won't be winning in pvp unless you pay way more than you would if you just played a subscription game.
BUT LUCKY FOR YOU!!! you can pay for a subscription for THIS GAME!! how wonderfull. Free to play mmorpg's now have two flavors. The slot machine money sink flavor that will cost you 200.00 + per month and the "bait and switch" flavor that is geared entirley to make you subscribe to a SHITTY GAME because you've already put the time in. There is a reason WoW kicked the ever loving CRAP out of EQ2 in the first place. Don't bother with the download on this deceptive marketing tool. |

Worst community you will ever find in a video game.
General Discussion « Global Agenda 10/10/10 9:02:57 PM
All the reply's here are interesting, and I respect your differing opinions.
I don't personally have a problem with the city chat spam.
What im talking about is the way people interact with one another in game. I once saw someone post in city chat, "99% of global agenda players are bad, 60% of global agenda players agree".
The problem with the community is mostly the competative nature itself. Now, to compete against an opposing team is one thing. But people in global agenda compete against other people on their own team. You will see robo's refusing to help other robo's for fear that keeping that turret up will cause the teamate to pass them up on the stat sheet. Healers not healing other healers. Its not everyone, but it does happen quite a bit. More than you may notice if you're not looking.
The very biggest problem, however, is the blame game. This game attracts the kind of people that, instead of asking the team "what can I do to help recover this situation" they say "If you didnt all suck so much, i'd be pwning".
Then, to top it all off, there's the "Powerelite" global agenda players. yes. There are people that believe they are actually IMPORTANT because agendastats.com says they are above average. Essentially they just stuck together, and harass anyone that even slightly disagrees with them on a small issue.
Its like a group of high school bullies.
That, in my opinion, is what has caused this games playerbase to go from 70,000 to 30,000 in a month, even though they removed the subscription fee.
You can argue that number if you like, but remmember that they are counting free trial accounts, and people that leave. Go to agendastats, (about the only thing its good for) and pass some SQL queries to the database regarding the number of unique player id's that have entered a game.
This community is driving new players away.
I have also recently had contact with the community management after trying to express my feelings on the global agenda official forums.
Here's a copy of the official response, and my response to that after all of my posts where deleted.
[quote]You were flaming/trolling an informational thread with opinions and acting like they were facts.
[quote]Its ok, i've already uninstalled your game. Its pretty sad that your company creates an elite within its playerbase that is beyond reproach. I can't forsee finacial success finding you on this venture with that kind of attitude to your customers.
In short, I stand by my original statement. Worst community ever. |

Worst community you will ever find in a video game.
General Discussion « Global Agenda 10/03/10 10:55:42 PM
The game itself is fine. It's really nothing spectacular but it's fun. The actual content is a bit short lived, you've seen pretty much everything there is to see by level 30 (cap is 50).
This games problem is not content, though there definatly could be more. The problem is the community. This game has the absolute highest concentration of asshats and "Pro" morons of any game I have ever played.
Integrated voice is sometimes a blessing, but mostly a curse.
This game tries to hold to the holy trinity, IE tanker, healer, damage dealer. The real problem from the community stems from a website called agendastats.com. Agendastats claims to track your skills in a more effective way than the in game star system. In fact the metric it uses is stacked heavily on kill death ratio.
Essentially, what you end up with is a whole bunch of "AOE" specced assaults in the second tier level brackets padding their stats for agendastats.com, and bitching that the healers arn't tanking.
Its alot worse than just that. If you play this game, and play the trial, you only reach level 12. Know that there are no more open quest zones after the desert, and understand that if you purchase the game and begin playing mercs in the 30-50 bracket most of the people you will meet there are the worst possible specimens of humanity.
On another note, this games hack gaurds are laughable. Aimbots are everywhere. People actually spawn NPC's in the dome (the only area besides the desert and mission maps) for fun.
Last but not least, there are only 13 skill points. So at level 30 you have all the skill points you will ever get. Charecter progresion from level 30-50 is strictly gear based, and you're going to have to grind through a whole lot of those horrible merc missions with the afore mentioned asshats to snag up that next piece of gear or level.
All in all im glad I bought this game. It was alot of fun up until level 30. After getting every class to level 30, it just seems like a massive pointless waste of time spent with people I wouldnt piss on to stop them from burning to death. |

The original knights of the old republic games featured a silly little rail shooter minigame. The knights of the old republic mmo will feature a silly little rail shooter minigame.
If you are surprised by this "shocking developmnet" please dont breed. We don't need your dumbspawn pulling us back down the evolutionary lader. |
